Witches butter is everywhere but other fungus are hard to locate because it's not safe in the woods right now...Too many hunters in the woods in the fall and winter. Dryads will start popping and morels shortly after in a couple of months. 👍
When I put panther caps in 75% ethanol(aka moonshine) put in the freezer for a couple months, I made a drink with it and I slept for over 12 hours straight. I never sleep more than 4 hours without waking up I felt great after
I’m only a few seconds in and just wanted to say real quick before I forget, I like your new intro and music. It’s different and fun ♥️ thanks for the extra little touch! Now, if you’ll excuse me, my pencil is sharp and I’m prepared to learn some new things!!👀📝
The Amanita Augusta was amazing mushroom to find. This year has been incredible with the amount if different mushrooms ive found around my property in nw Oregon
Thanks for going in the woods and enjoy for us!😄✨💚 I wish we could..., my hubby got hospitalized from a bad infection a week ago, we are busy dealing with it right now... we really appreciate what you do always!!💗💫
Love your videos, by far the best I have ran into. I live on Whidbey Island and try to take a hike in the woods a couple of times of week. I love your monthly walks and I am finally getting the eye for spotting mushrooms and have learned a few new ones since watching.
Hedgehog mushroom is without a doubt the best tasting mushroom I’ve foraged. They often do grow singularly, but I have found then in small groups too. Wonderful!
Me and my black lab Ruger just went out and picked some candy cap this morning 🍄❤️ love your videos we watch them all the time and Ruger loves to see Gunner walk by❤
Thank you so much for taking your time to teach us about the world of mushrooms. Back when I was younger people would say there only a few edibles, now I can pick a lot more...
I’ve found several patches of candy caps, dried them in my dehydrator and was so confused by the lack of intense maple syrup smell. I was certain I was correct in the ID, thanks for clearing that up about air drying them for the best quality. Legit thought I was losing my sense of smell! Thanks for another great video!
i've been finding a lot of great mushrooms this december too in seattle. i've been kinda surprised to find a lot of elfin saddles lately cause i thought those were spring mushrooms. most of them have been moldy...found a beautiful fuzzy one where the mold had just started in one of my favorite urban mushroom patches in another apartment building's small yard so so so love this channel. have been watching for almost two years and i'm glad your channel is growing
Repeat Repeat Repeat.. ALWAYS!!! sometimes at night... In my head...I can hear you say a mushroom and it makes me want to go out and start looking or just go out and be with nature. And there is always a babysitter for one magical night. We all deserve a break. But good find.
Thank you so much Aaron. We're just up coast west of you in Sooke, BC, on the Island. This season, you cleared up the Ambiguous Stropharia for me especially. For years I've been confusing it with an amanita, and one of your last videos made it clear. And heavens did we see a great batch of those questionable so and so's this year.
I've 3 dogs one is a greyhound, he loves yellow brittle gills, he won't touch any other mushrooms but them, when he arrives in a forest he runs around hunting for them, he's even got his known spots where he knows there's loads of them, its hilarious watching him foraging.
Aaron, I am obsessed with your channel; I vastly preferred the old intro (it gave such a sense of wonder that all mushroom foragers can relate to). This new intro sounds way too unnature-y with the trap music beats, etc. although I still like the 'welcome to mushroom wonderland' and the food scenes :)
Love the new intro! Another great video. I had to laugh at the advice to pick off trail! My brother taught me never to pick anything from average male's waist down. In his words " We'll pee outside any chance we get". 😂 thanks for an info packed video!
Thanks, and that's good advice! Also, thanks about that intro, unfortunately it was just a one time thing, I no longer own the rights to that music, so there is a different new one on the way that fits the channel theme a little better. I hope you'll like it! New fresh starts for 2024!
I was hoping you still would make vids during winter! I hunt in town every day. Soon I’ll have a truck and then I’ll drive to the forest. The city hunts I will never eat. But helps my eyes
I'm a resident of the Kitsap Peninsula as well and went to the Kitsap Mycological Society's show at Olympic College. I've always been fascinated by fungi and hope to attend a meeting at some point in the future. I've never been foraging but would love to go with a guide some time. I'm guessing that by connecting with the Society I will be put in contact with those who wouldn't mind showing me the ropes. Thank you for the content, it's really inspiring me to get back out into our wonderful environment!
I just picked a bunch of fresh late fall oysters and I have a bunch of edible coral mushrooms and most of all I have record amounts of winter chanterelles 🌲😊
I was taking panther caps intermittently over the course of a year and enjoyed them quite a bit. But they are nothing like psilocybin and require a very specific preparation. That a. augusta is insane looking! Man what a find!
Loved watching while cutting up turkey tail & reishi I've found in a couple of places here in South King County. I'm dehydrating so I can pulverize for powder to use for calming.or sleep. I was buying capsules for quite a bit & foraged for free, now. I have watched for a few months and I'm hooked. Thanks & I'll take a look at that merch. If you can accept crypto for payment, I could totally donate some XRP.
Your little skeleton that you found is pretty funny! Because last year 2022 in the fall I was nowhere within a mile of a house out in the middle of the forest and I found a 4-in tall Gumby toy figure. You know who Gumby is right? The cartoon clay figure. Which I thought that was extremely odd. So you never know what you're going to find out in the middle of the forest.
Yeah I know what Gumby is, that's funny! I have found some weird stuff but a fairy skeleton tops the list. Somebody else in the comments found one exactly like it I guess, but a hundred miles away 🤔😯
Thanks. Really want to try some shrimp russula. The nibble test has ruled out some I was considering. I've heard the ferrous sulfate drops are also useful for IDing these.
Love your videos. I wish there was someone like you up here in Northern Maine. I have a hundred acre property with lots of mushrooms that i have no idea what they are.
Another great walk ! I have tried to join so many times Aaron but it just doesn't work on this phone and I dont have a computer , sorry 😢 , love your video's ! 😊
I am in northern Cali and for the "woodland psillys" do you need to let them dry before consuming or can you eat them as is ...I heard they help with depression asking for a friend 😊
@@mushroomwonderland1 Interesting. We live in the Portland area on a small mountain at about 500 ft and we have lots of conifers including large Douglas Fir and I have never seen Chanterelles. I had heard they needed higher elevation but I guess not. What conditions are required for Chanterelles?
I live in Northeast Georgia and I have started forcing for mushrooms do you have any information that might help me while out there looking for mushrooms
I love your show, however I must admit I get a little frustrated by your random description of the mushrooms you find. You provide tons of information on some and very little on others. My suggestion is to cover a half dozen points for every mushroom first, then go on with other information. Then people can take notes and get the important points in the same order, first thing, every time. 1) Name 2) identifing charistics 3) edibility 4) Is it medicinal 5)type of strata it grows in 5) ways to prepare for food or medical. Just saying a standerdized format would help viewers get the important info without needing to search the video. Thanks for all the wonderful information and experience.❤
I don't like the callous way you pick the mushrooms and just throw them back down like they are garbage. Please leave them growing to fruit and multiply. They need to do their natural process all the way through. Please don't spread this type of callous behavior to others. Too many people are out doing this and that is very bad for the environment. We need to leave them be. Remember our National Park motto: "Take nothing but a photograph and leave nothing but your footprints."
As I sit here in cold dry nevada right now, looking at all that rain dumping right up above me in Oregon. The envy.🥲😂 so I thank you for everything you do for us, keep killing it bro. Love that new intro btw.👍💙
Thanks to Aaron I've been throwing mushrooms at trees for about 3 weeks now. The look people give me is hilarious

Fair enough, and I kind of agree, this probably isn't permanent, was just messing around with different things. But I like the direction you're going.

Just checked out the Myco Society website and will have to wait until after Christmas to sign up, but I'll be on the forums soon!
Ive been an avid mushroom forager since childhood. Love your videos, they are definitely informative to those who are looking to get into mycology.
Different intro, nice!
love it

I like would foods UK!

@@mushroomwonderland1 thanks!!

This both fascinates and intimidates me even more about the fungus.
Love the video! Great stuff. Loads of awesome mushrooms still out over there. Thank y’all.
This is an amazing episode. Thanks Alan.

Great winter mushroom season here in Norcal, finding tons of great specimens this past month!

I have made young Laccaria laccata before the caps open, cooked with garlic and butter and they were very good. Excellent texture. Try again I say! 😊

I'm glad you specified the difference of Chanterelle that made you sick, i haven't had a reaction to either but it is good to know info
Love the music! Fun video, I live in north Kitsap and my wife is a mushroom enthusiast. What are some of the better hikes/walks to mushroom hunt?
Right on, this area is great for mushroom hunting. Pretty much any county or state park is a good bet!
The western elfin saddle scared me 🤣 all i saw were baby gargoyles 🫠
12:00 Well, I USE THESE PANTHERS! Pull them up and send them to me! I will buy them!

Exactly like that one.
Really? Where?

Is the Russula brevipies also known as the Trooping Funnel?
No
Clitocybe geotropa I believe.
I know climber hands when I see them...

A lot of the information in this video is still relevant for your area although the habitat is totally different. 🍄
