I have the same '97 Spirit with the same bags, luggage rack, back pad,windshield...But I have crash bars and too loud slash cuts. I'm looking for a pair of stock mufflers because I don't really care for the popping and extra noise.
I have an '04 HSS-VT1100C. Excellent Bikes. Adequate highway speed and power. Looks are OK as far as proportion. They are a little short for the taller rider. Seat mod or forward controls or both may be necessary.
You do not need to re-jet if you only removed the rear baffle....you may want to check the plugs anyway to be sure you aren't running lean...if so you can just richen slightly on the carb
@@BitterDawn Thank U! I did that. Now it sounds Great - not too loud, but deeper, mellower. Feels like a tad better performance & it seems the jets are fine.
@@bub1683 I do not recall the dimension off the tip of my head so it would be wise to measure your exhaust, no suggestion on brand. I've done this mod on two Shadows I've had but inevitably I've put on after market pipes as it always sounds better imo. I found used drag pipes on eBay for cheap for my 1100 and they sound great, compliments from HD and metric riders if that's worth anything.
I've got an 07 I've been thinking about doing this too instead of springing for a full exhaust (I'm thinking a RoadBurner since V&H doesn't seem to make a full for the 1100 Spirit. Have you seen any negatives like lost power pulling hills or harder to start or anything like that? Thanks for the vid!
When I picked up my 95 Ace it already had the baffles removed. really nice sound. not to loud. Pretty happy with it...for now

1999 1100 with cobra muffler sounds like John Deere and running Lean
I agree with you.. Being 5'8", the bike fits me well :-)

Nice sound. I have same bike (2000). How did u remove the baffles? Did u need to change the jetting? Thx!
Hole saw. It attaches to a drill.
