Sanemi and obanai are actually one of the most caring outta them all...they are just REALLY bad at showing it but i can guarantee you sanemi and obanai would be one of the first to sacrifice themselves for even tanjiro,they are just very traumatized because of their backstorys.

I think it’s important to distinguish that understanding someone’s behavior doesn’t have to go hand in hand with condoning it. Those who read the manga and know why Sanemi does the shit he does, great- but don’t mix that up for excusing his behavior.
You do realize eating demons is taboo right? And look at it from sanemis pov instead of yours as a viewer who likes genya, genya is eating and essentially becoming the very thing that killed both of their siblings and same thing that made sanemi kill their mother that genya blamed him for so why wouldn't he be pissed? Yhea he was a little extra but what do you expect this is a traumatized man who hasn't dealt with he's trauma in a healthy way so ofc he's going to be a little crazy.

He had to kill his mom and the only survivor, his brother, called him a murderer... He may felt lonely and broken.

the reason why Sanemi is mad at Kenya is because he is his only family member left and he wants to protect him at all cost because he know that being a demon slayer death is around the corner. And you can bet he was even more mad at him for not leaving realising he helped out against upper 4
I think Sanemi wants to prevent Genya's ability to regenerate by hurting him
no he is hurting genya so that he can quit corps and live a normal life well and alive.

It's clear that he wants him to leave the corps, but if his intention is not to prevent him from regenerating, then how will Genya live that beautiful life that Sanemi wishes for him with a missing eye?

Its the true that genya would be blind from that attack but it is also true that if genya become blind ,he would immediately leave the corps and thus genya would be alive to live a life..
But here as Genya stays,although is not injured now but what is going to happen is future to him is much worse than being blind..
Sanemi already knew that and thus he is protecting is beloved brother.
Don't forget sanemi literally jump in front of death itself to save his brother : Both in their childhood and even in the castle fight.
Sanemi acting like that because he wants Genya out of the DS corps, he doesn't want his brother in danger too. It's an understandable course of action given their circumstances from their backstory. Sanemi wants to eradicate the demons who killed their family and he doesn't want his brother to follow him. He would rather make Genya blind then removed from the corps than endangering himself by being a Demon Slayer.
If genya wants sanemi to acknowledge him, forget doing anything impressive atleast try not becoming the thing he hates the most i.e demons🙄
It hurt so much to see Genya be treated like that - I hope things get better for him 😭

Sanemi is just misunderstood and doesn't know how to express himself without anger. But i assure you he loves his lil brother and has one of the softest hearts, they've just been through so much.

People who are hating on Sanemi so today I will answer them :
1. Why not Sanemi could have talked Genya to not join the Demon Slayer Corps ?
Sanemi wanted genya to hate him because Sanemi thought that if he died one day then Genya would definitely take revenge for his brother, which Sanemi definitely not wanted. Sanemi wanted Genya to live peaceful live that's why Sanemi wanted Genya to hate him.
2. Sanemi was about to blind Genya, which is not justified at all ?
Here my theory is, Sanemi just wanted to scare genya because i think Sanemi knew the whole time that tanjiro was there. But How can I so sure ?
Because No one was able to find Nakime's eyeball in the entire series because it was made for the purpose of hiding, but Sanemi found it just by a slight sound. Do you really think sanemi wouldn't know tanjiro was there ? Come on Bro, He is literally Hashira.
I think Sanemi was checking whether Tanjiro will save Genya or not if he attacks Genya. And when tanjiro came to protect genya, Sanemi sure that Tanjiro will protect Genya
3. Why Sanemi was beating tanjiro If Sanemi was sure that Tanjiro would protect Genya ?
I think Sanemi was beating Tanjiro on purpose. Sanemi knew that tanjiro hate Sanemi ( But tanjiro didn't ) and tanjiro is good friend of genya. So, Sanemi was beating Tanjiro which make Genya convinced that Sanemi is a bad person and other reason is, Sanemi thought tanjiro will say bad things about Sanemi to genya which definitely made genya hate Sanemi. That's why he suddenly allowed genya to go to the same training as tanjiro. So that, Tanjiro can say bad thing about Sanemi.
Sanemi lost everyone he care for like His siblings, Mother, His friend, His crush So he doesn't want to loose his only brother.
4. Becoming a demon slayer could also be Genya's personal choice so Sanemi was interfaring ?
First of all, Being a Demon Slayer cannot be anyone's choice. All the slayer become Demon Slayer for some purpose. And Genya's purpose to demon slayer is the same as Sanemi, "To Protect and Care his Only Brother" which Sanemi not wanted at all. He doesn't want genya to risk his life.

yeah, nothing could justified such brutality that Sanemi tried to apply on Genya. But these brothers story are one of the most tragic there is. Poor Genya & Sanemi for having such life
Yes, you right. He (or even both of them) might be need some therapy. But again, the reasons are:
1. Genya blamed Sanemi for his mothers death and they never recovered after that.
2. Sanemi hates demons, he had to kill his mother after she turned into a demon (So finding out Genya ate a demon and effectively became a demon, he is very disgusted)
3. And as you can guess, the reason Sanemi wants Genya to leave the corps is because he doesn't want Genya to die. Since Genya couldn't use breathing techniques correctly, Sanemi was worried.
so yea he needs therapy like she said.
Sanemi does have feelings, he just doesn't know how to show it properly otherwise he would not listen to the Master in the first place. But I agree what he was about to do is 💯 unforgivable but he does have reasons. It's hard to explain why he the way he is because last season it was more of Genya's backstory than Sanemi's and his backstory is next season. Also no spoilers obviously but lets's just say he got traumatised so much that he lost his mind and act the way he is.

and thats how sanemi is misunderstood .not complaining though what you are observing in his character but from waht you have seen let me say to you sanemi does not hate tanjiro because is fighting upper ranks or getting better or whatever ,he hates him because tanjiro gets to keep his demon sister alive but sanemi had to kill his own mother at such a young age and now that he hears that his brother in order to get stronger eats demon he snapped at that moment as he w remembered abut his mom ...I am telling you you will love him and you will find him the most cutest adorable hasira among all te hashiras😊
Genya is too attached to his brother because you have already seen it he was the best big brother. But Sanemi is scared to show even an ounce of love towards Genya anymore because then he will never leave Demon Slayer corps. He wants him to hate or resent him so that he finally gives up on being a demon slayer.
Sanemi is the 🐐. Everyone is too sensitive, the demons are not light enemies. If you read the manga, you know what i mean.
I feel like due to Sanemi killing their mother it broke him and then his little siblings got murder by her, Genya calling him a murderer and Genya probably looks like the mom, the father always beating up the mother and now he knows that Genya is half demon, all of that would drive a person crazy, and also i think Sanemi is trying to protect him from dying,
The brothers had a good-for-nothing dad so they don’t really know how to express themselves, especially Sanemi.

Genya can only regenerate when in demon form and in that scene he was in human form meaning he would have been permanently blind if Sanemi's blow landed.

@@TayJonas His scar when his mom attacked him is still there and he got that scar in human form so if his demon form healed all wounds and scars from human form he would no longer have that scar. He also has a bunch of scars all over his body (most likely due to fighting demons in human form seeing as he only ever consumes demons and uses his demon form when fighting a demon he is unable to take down in human form).
sanemi loves his brother, but he has a lot of trauma and he doesn’t know how to express it. what he did this episode was wrong, but he doesn’t know it. you would expect him to be mature since he’s an adult, but let’s not forget that maturity doesn’t just comes with age, you have to learn it. almost his whole life sanemi was acting like a demon killing machine, he doesn’t know love, he doesn’t know how to express it. I’m waiting for your reactions to certain scenes in the next season. I’m sure you’ll love sanemi!

to be fair, it’s not like we can expect sanemi to be emotionally stable and mature because of the fact that he had to kill his mother to save genya, and on top of that genya calling him a murderer wouldn’t of helped his case. Sanemi is a complicated guy. With that said, I'm with you. I don't like him as a character.

He does need Therapy but eradicating every demon is the only Therapy that can help Sanemi. You are too emotional and sensitive to understand Sanemi. You are feeling bad for Genya but not for Sanemi why they both had the same loss but he had to kill his mother. And also his loss doesn't end there throughout the show Sanemi keeps on suffering. No matter what he does he always suffers the worst fate. You are also forgetting something Genya was a dick too. He changed because of Tanjiro and their last encounter. Don't you remember when Genya literally tried to break a little girl's hand in season 1 during Final selection ? Maybe not that's the issue here. His attitude was really bad from the beginning but you forget that because of the last arc so give some time and wait till you see what's actually happening between them. I am just saying Till the last arc what you said about Sanemi were also applicable to Genya but you don't even remember it. But now you feel for him even though he did some dirty things in the past. But mostly for him not for Sanemi. Sanemi literally said goodbye to his childhood at the age of 12. Genya is 16 years old and you feel for him like a baby even though he has been a dick all along until the last arc.
You literally had the same reaction as me (when Sanemi was trying to...) I was crying so bad:( as a older sibling, I can't even imagine to do that to my younger brother ☹️
