Hello, I am the anonymous submitter (or at least one of them, idk if anyone else submitted BAUHAUS). Thanks for giving it a try! I was worried about submitting it since I felt like even on -fast it would be way too easy for you, but I felt like what the wad (and specifically map 4) did have to offer would make for an interesting albeit nonstandard submission. The wad is obviously focused on showing off the ability to create Bauhaus-style architecture and art in doom maps, and the first 2 maps are pretty much just art demos with little combat. However, maps 3 and 4 blend architecture with actual gameplay, and have solid encounter design (heck, map 4 even plays around with kinky boom stuff), which is why I submitted map 4, since in my opinion doom levels should be playable. Personally, I just wish the wad was longer - as you progress, the levels gain mechanical complexity and thus become more interesting, but then the wad ends on map 4… I would have loved to see the extension of the wad concept further. I honestly think that doom maps and Bauhaus art can mix pretty well since both heavily rely on "simplistic" shapes and layouts. Some specific comments on events in the run - yeah I think the supercharge puzzle is just there to drag people around on a string a bit, since he probably assumed people would go for area “E” first so they hadn’t seen a supercharge yet. Pity about the shotgunner - it seems like there’s a murphy’s law with you and failed spawns during recorded runs. Also, it seems like god mode also applies to voodoo dolls. Neat! Regarding: the getting heavily lost while blind, I commiserate completely - in my first run, it took me hours to figure out how to get the lifts to work in the "I" section. Pain. But yeah, if people are looking for a healthy dose of doomcute or just like Bauhaus art, they should check out the wad on idgames. Another good wad by didy is sigma. SIGMA B-
Calling Maps 1 & 2 "just art demos" is a bit harsh though. They are both just as playable as Map03 & 04 just not as difficult perhaps. But in a wad all about eye candy the best map isn't the one with the hardest fights. Map02 features some fun gameplay and i personally would pick it over Map04 as both visually and atmospherically more impressive. The first two maps showcase more of the actual exterior architecture Bauhaus is famous for while in the later two maps in becomes far more abstract. The first two maps also have the better part of the soundtrack compared to maps 3&4. But they're all great. I especially love the end of Map04. Maybe in the next submission round we can get decino to play Map02 as well.
I disagree with Decino on this one. No matter how beautiful or skillfully made a map if you gotta say "play it a few times and it'll make sense" then it's a bad map. That reminds me of Doom 2 city levels that needed an arrow to tell the player where the heck to go. Function over Design. Always. Bauhaus needs to remember that.
@@AB0BA_69 A bad map for you maybe, not objectively. Objectively a lot of great works in every media take time and effort to fully appreciate. As long as it's enjoyable to experience though it has value.
Bauhaus was actually one of the first Doom wads I ever played after I finished the IWADs, and it's more than worthy to cap off this round of viewer submissions. Such a neat wad - we need more Doom maps that take on bold architectural aesthetics like this!
I've been studying graphic design for a while and my professors would snob all the time about Bauhaus. I'm so tired of hearing about Bauhaus but the map does look very nice.

While this is an amazing map. We have to admit that alien vendetta is the pinnacle of doom modding. Besides vendetta we don't really have a glorious wad. Just runner ups and usurpers to the throne.
