USCG MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter start-up and take-off

- We are on the practice field at Maine Maritime Academy, where we see US Coast Guard Sikorsky MH-60T Jayhawk 6042 as it starts up and takes off from the field. The helicopter was here as part of a dual rescue simulation with a 47 foot CG motor lifeboat. The lifeboat came out of Rockland, while the helicopter came out of Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod. We will see one of the rescue evolutions in an upcoming video. 6042 is painted in the Coast Guard Aviation Centennial color scheme. The MH-60T was built in the early to mid 90's. Enjoy the sound of the start up of the GE T700-GE-401C gas turbines, as well as the view of the take-off. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The videos were taken on October 13th, 2016.

In my opinion, the Sikorsky S-70 family (Blackhawks, Seahawks, Pavehawks, and Jayhawks), is one of the most beautiful helicopters in the world! Great bird!
Devgru81 definitely
Yeah, my shared number one favorite spot belongs to the H-60's (pretty much all models) and the Soviet Mil Mi-24D, and then the second spot (also shared) belongs to the UH-1 Huey and the Mil Mi-8 "Hip".
Those are my favorite vehicles ever, but there's one non-helicopter vehicle that goes above all, and that's the F/A-22 Raptor!
I agree, looks wise. But there is a lot of work to be done before it can displace the uh-1 as the GOAT
ashley stovall GOAT?

For those who are curious, this paint job is the Coast Guard's ceremonial "Centennial" paint job.
Though make no mistake. This bird sees plenty of action.
Hoping they didn't buy too much of that color and plan on sharing it with the other A/S. Wasn't a fan when they painted the 140's black instead of leaving them white much less red (as the icebreakers they are). Hey, if they can justify painting the Mackinaw red when it's as much a buoy tender build as anything else, they could have painted the 140's red. Just my opinion of course.. :-)
@@tc1uscg65 I'd want black paint while flying around ice.
The slight extra warmth from the sunlight can only help keep the sheet metal skin in better condition.
But that's purely a practical standpoint, not an asthetic one.
I did wonder about the color. It sure doesn't look like our H-3s and H-52s did in the 70s. 🙂

My Uncle spent 30+ yrs as a civilian for the USCG and also was working on these when they were being upgraded to the Tango models, as well as frequently spent time at Coast Guard aviation training center in Mobile, AL and was also frequently at CGAS Elizabeth City, NC, he is one of many people who made the conversion to the new model a great success!
I was one of the first factory trained Army Blackhawk Repairers. I was stationed at FEVA for six years training AIT students to be Blackhawk Repairers. Excellent film footage and sound.
I'm proud of you man 😁✌️👍
Thank you for protecting our men and women from the bottem of my heart
The helicopter is already beautiful by itself, and the orange color is even more beautiful.
Do it justice with an honorable and courageous American coast guard.
Thank you kindly for posting. And a SPECIAL thank you to all the brave men and women of the Coast. Thank You for your service. What a marvelous sight and sound. Its funny = as the rotor speeds up - it looks like its stopping. What a strange optical effect.
6042. Crewed it many times at Clearwater. Nice to see it got the anniversary paint job.
I see them all the time flying over Clearwater. Always makes me happy.

Flew on her during Deepwater Horizon incident. Many flights, only one issue, a rotor brake caution light .. turned out to be a faulty sensor.
Absolutely love that helicopter
Used to be stationed at the Sandwich Canal Station up the road from the AirSta Cape Cod. Did a few basket drills with them out in the bay. Nice paint job...looks like something you'd find over in England.
how the hell can you even concentrate on any job surrounded by such beauty? Sometimes I fantasize creating my own Art excursion, to include some writing and photography and painting. I could only imagine how wonderful it would be to lose myself there for 2 or 3 weeks and just indulge in my passion. I tried really hard to get stationed there when in the Air Force. Not sure if we even have a station there anymore. I envy you so much!!
Over here in England our Coast Guard choppers are painted white and orange, usually, not the most interesting
@@krysler1490 but the RAF has S-70's in all-yellow livery. Mainly used in SAR missions.
@@krysler1490 They just recently changed the color scheme for some aircraft.
Such an amazing take off
This clip brought back great memories. My first ride in a helicopter was when a Air National Guard UH-1 Huey landed at Fort George in Castine, it was in the fall of 1989, my senior year at MMA, they asked if we wanted a ride, Hell Ya!. Working offshore I've flown well over 100 chopper flights now, not as fun as the first time though.
Back in my days,('74-'80) all the choppers were white with the exception of the ones on the breakers..they were orange.
Were your copters HH-1N aka Bell 212?
I love the scenery up in the North, you have these place that are schools and business and they look like people's homes.
That's so North East, Shaker style homes.
She sounds........Beautiful
What a beast of an aircraft!
That Jayhawk looks so thoughtful

A very nice stable machine, best one CG has had yet.
I beg to differ. The HH-3F was the only true Work Horse helicopter the CG ever had. A real beast that could do it all. Sorry, but I had to say that. I was a Flight Mech. on them and as all aviators are concerned, whatever they fly is best. Actually all military helicopters are very capable of doing the jobs they are assigned to. With a few exceptions,....Ahem (dolphin) cough cough!!
I loved this paintscheme.
such a beautiful helicopter. its got beautiful lines like a 51 merc
Wow!! good to have a Helicopter in back yard
It is cool :)
How bout a Harrier Jump Jet?
@@AquaVlogs9001 even cooler!
something about that yellow and black nose colour scheme that makes it look so good
Class of '00 - Knew it was Castine from the thumbnail! We had the 6001 bird - the CG's first Jayhawnk - stop by while I was student. Also got to direct in a ME NG UH-1 on the same field!
thank you for your service
That's a serious ride. So well preserved. I haven't seen this livery before. Clearly not an emergency lift off here - but this outfit must see a lot of water rescue from the fishing industry.
Bob Boberson I can’t tell you the name because I forgot how to spell it but the comments above yours say the name... but it’s some sort of memorial livery, if that helps
That's a nice sound, so relaxing.
Keep it that way, looks cool!!!
Nice video dude! And nice chopper too , I really like that special paint scheme
Its flat yellow
I really miss flying on the Big Iron. I flew on the 42 in E-City back in the day.
AMT2 medically retired from AIRSTA Cape Cod
I did my time in E-City from '73 to '77 in H52s and H3s and a short time in U16s.
Carl! Get in the damn chopper!
Nice video, excellent paint scheme on that aircraft. It sure is clean.
Gives me goosebumps on the take off
Same
WOW!!! What a magnificent machine!
Beautiful video. Stunning
Nice video! Thanks for sharing
Nice video! in my opinion, yellow is a great colour to rescue helicopter!
Salute from Argentina, i see planes and helicopters all the time.
great video! thanks for posting!
After reviewing video . I understand now what he was doing running his hand underneath the front on cockpit . Heat signature from his hand ... cool shit
I'm digging the ochre livery. Sempur Visibilitus.
what a beautiful helicopter .
Yellow looks really good on that thing
Now that is one beautiful heli.
Great video! I really enjoy watching turbine helicopter procedures. Your camera work, fall colors, framing, and the bird itself makes this a spectacular video.
that is just amazing what a paint scheme
Those are nice homes at the background
Man, I love that yellow. I wish we had one at our airsta.
Love it, great video
looks like awesome jobs for everyone involved!
I honestly feel like they could save anybody from anything. You could call these guys and say I’m in actual hell and they would save you no problem take 20 minutes then go get lunch. Amazing.
Jayhawks get the coolest paint jobs 😎
Ahh yes the jayhawk one of the most coolest coast guard helicopter my favourite helicopters
When I approach the helicopter I'm always🤣😂 instinctively bend my head down
My dad is the flight mechanic on these :)
NO I AM YOU DAD!!!
Perhaps he will find the lost watch of the guy searching for it somewhere?
Ask him what engine is used? My guess is CT7 _ 9B
Blue Minion top
Tremendous weight to carry, not to mention a nightmare of keeping up with the (sometimes regular) unanticipated turn of events that come with this job!! Much respect for the man you are blessed to call Dad!!! Much respect!!
Beautiful bird...
Dream job...
That paint scheme is so tasty.
Beautiful bird.
Ohh love the sound to it
Nice fall colors...on the helicopter.
These birds went through vulnerability testing at White Sands Missile Range, NM after some hard elevator commands which couldn't be over ridden caused crashes. I flew in one of these amazing choppers back in the late 70's or early 80's at Fort Irwin.
Thank You Sir, Beautiful sound and chopper. Hats off to our Heroes. U.S.C.G
What an awesome capture, I've subscribed! 🚁💯❤
Beautyful and sounds mighty👍🏻
awesome machine
Beautiful bird
Great wagon wheel effect
Excellent visuals.
That is a awesome helicopter and very nice colors 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think that what y'all do is so awesome to me and so heroic too 👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Interesting to see the cewmember looking underneath at the powerplant drains.
Such a Beauty
I like the colour scheme.
Cool!
The sky is where it's at!
This man wakes up And Takes His Heli While Millions Just wake up and Drive their Compact cars 😂😂😂
I wish I had one of those in my backyard. I would be flying all over the place lol
Coincidentally I have one alike in my back yard, only use it when I"m late on my commute
Very nice catch! I like the white paint scheme better but it still looks nice.
it is a special paint job to commemorate 75 years of coast guard aviation
Pure gold heli.
Precioso este helicóptero, pero desde que volé en el Huey UH 1H, sigo enamorado del Huey. Un saludo cordial desde España.
Strong color...
0:20 I thought he was gonna plug in the block heater.
you have more comments than I have views! fab vid!
That’s damn impressive 😍
Mi26 is impressive. This one looks like a fish.
very good
Loaded my share of PTs from car wrecks onto helos on the highway. Bird is always light on the skids and ground EMS and FFs have to beat feat, only people near the bird are one ground EMS personnel and flight nurse to load PT.
that would be some alarm clock to wake up too
*sleeping*
*helicopter starts*
*peeks out window*
SHUT YOUR DAMN HELICOPTER OFF
With that paint scheme it would be difficult to misplace.
I Love to see Helicopters starting since i was a Child
its just Insane to Lift Tons and Tons with Air
Looks like the preflight checks take time for completion.as the rotors pick up speed the mechanical whine gives way to characteristic chopping sound.takeoff is effortless.
I need more power Scotty, I am giving her all the power I can Captain. When a J hawk screams to life.
One day I’ll fly one of these 🙂
3:23 is the startup
If that doesn't make you wanna go save some lives, nothing will!!! AWESOME!!!
The H-60 variants will be in service for probably as long as the UH-60 variants. Especially with today's insane price tags for new hardware.
It is the original color of Coast Guard aircraft and was painted this way to commemorate the 75 anniversary of Coast Guard Aviation!
Yawn, you need to bring that to Flo'rida! Cape Cod, jeeze, I love the shack there, deep fry and clams! I was sitting on the wall when a bird stole my dip LoL!
muito loko cara verdadeiros heroes
US COAST GARD CAPE COD MASS!!!! BEST IN THE BUSINESS!!!! OMG WHAT A BUNCH OF BAS ASS'S WITH A BAD ASS CHOPPER!!!!
TOO COOL!!!! Beautiful Jayhawker. Must to be brand new thened? I never haved seen a USA Coast Guard Aircrafts painted as that color before. Whened I see themed usual they are white and red arounded Great Lakes and at Santa Cruz CA whened I lived at there.
Probly just my visioned is fooled but cand any ofed one who does know it for sure tell to me ifed the top rotors blade does acshully passed betweened blades ofed the rears end tail rotor as the tails rotor moved around? As it was idling for warm uped it did looked as liked the big blades did to pass betweened the small backed ones as they turned. Ised that true? Or was just that my eyes geted fooled?
And all ofed ready I do know it I writed badly. At whened I was at 11 (I am at 15 now) I geted beated to near ofed deathed by #23 ofed my fosters fathers because I saided no when he came at my room at nites. He did turned to be a vile evil pedophile and he beated ond me withed a big ofed buckle belt. I geted a TBI and evened after brains operation still I haved damaged ined there which does maked to geted words right hard fore me. At school I do haved roommates who do editing my stuff fore class but at whened school ised done just it ised me and some ofed time my new fosters parents. I am sorry ifed you haved troubles to readed it. Just I am doing best as I cand do so you cand just to skiped it making ofed fund of it.
Cool. Haven’t ever seen an orange one like this though, I wonder why it is orange rather to red and white
PEppA they decided that orange sticks out the most
PEppA rather school bus yellow same color
Its painted yellow to celebrate the coast guards 100 years of aviation
"You! Yes, you! Stand still, laddie!"
