Forrrest Ackerman's writing in Famous Monsters of Filmland was a real inspiration to me when I was 10 years old, back in 1964. When I came to Los Angeles in 1981 I made it a point to visit his home, the 'Ackermansion', where he showed me around his collection of movie memorabilia. What a great guy.
Forrest J. Ackerman was The Greatest!! Uncle Forry!! I remember back in the early 60's reading with delight Famous Monsters Of Filmland. He was my Idol.
The man who made it acceptable to be a Science-Fiction, Fantasy ad Horror Fan. With his knowledge of Film, Literature, and Film History he would've made an excellent Film Studies and Literature teacher
I visited the Ackermansion many years ago. Forry was the most generous soul who ever lived. He let me try on Bela Lugosi's silk cape. Such a funny, sweet person. RIP
The Arthur C. CLarke novelization of 2001 explains the ending of the film pretty clearly. Kubrick did a great job of visually portraying the bizarre and incomprehensible experience of encountering the technology of a civilization millions of years ahead of our own.
Forry was the ambassador of Science Fiction and Fantasy, a man who created a bridge to the past that inspired and fed the wild dreams of the passionate young nerds who created the SF&F of the future. He truly was one of a kind. A funny note: Forry never put a period after the "J" in his name, and as a result, he often found junk mail stuffed into the Ackermansion's mailbox that was addressed to "Mr Jackerman." He got a kick out of that. Forry got a laugh out of everything.
@BUDDY6414724297 Forry , in an article he wriote back in the 80s, stated he didnt like the movie--(well, much asI like Bruce Dern, I didn't care for the movie , either). My very favorite SF movie is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Forry--a hero of mine--didn't like the movie at all. Oh well...
What I remember most about Forrest J Ackerman is that he insisted that his name not be spelled with the dot after the "J", it should NOT be spelled "Forrest J. Ackerman" 🤣🤣 Therefore, to honor Mr. Ackerman's wish, Mr. youtuber, you should remove the period after the “J”. 😉

Good ol' Forry. He was a wonderful friend and I miss him.

RIP Forry. I remember well the thrill of reading Famous Monsters of Filmland back in the 70s when I was a kid.
I discovered Famous Monsters in about1975--then scoured the back pages to order back issues and silent 8mm fractions of Harryhausen movies...
Forrey was an incredible SCI-FI man!!!!
