Arc - Twilight of the Spirits was my favorite game on the PS2, I never have been that invested in a storyline and characters in any other JRPG. I still need to play the trilogy on PS1, I was sooo glad when I got the Collection for 50 euros because it's so rare nowadays. Unfortunately one of the CDs was broken, so I had to order one to replace it, and the CD costed as much as the whole collection...
it was for me too. if u were into that check out trails into daybreak, way better story, gameplay, etc. arcs over and we're finally getting games that surpass them
Played ARC 1 on the ps1 around 2002. Today i downloaded an emulator to play this. Now i just gotta figure out how to connect my old controller to the pc lol. Great video.
Nice job with the video, I like when I discover new channels like yours. There's a lot 'improvement opportunities' for your videos right now to act upon and get the production to a 'polished' level, but I'm sure you're aware of that and may even want to keep the videos like this for 'aestethic' reasons :). Either way, good luck and cover more niche games like this please, and one other thing, please cover the first game as well :).
There is so much magic in arc the lad II. It's clear the developers look at every little detail. For example when choko is put to sleep by an enemy attack, she brushes her tooth, gargles water and then lays with a pillow. It's done really fast but still is fun to see. This is just one of the many subtle visual pearls this game includes. Miss this game.
Great review. I actually learned some stuff. It makes so much sense knowing the composer is(was?) part of a jazz fusion band. It definitely has a 90s jazz feel that was popular at the time (like breath of fire 3). AtL2 is definitely special. It’s too bad AtL is in a weird place and it’s hard to get the rights to port it to a new system, especially the translation with working designs(r.i.p).
Arc the Lad 2 is the best one in the series by far. The third one isn't so much story driven as it takes more of a backseat for the sake of guild missions. I'd still try it out regardless. The 4th one on the PS2 is also not too bad. I still need to go back and play through it again at some point. The 5th one however...I would not bother. There's also the latest release of Arc the Lad R that tries to go back to it's roots somewhat...only more gachas involved. If mobile games aren't your thing then don't bother. Good video otherwise.
it'll be more interesting storywise if you play the first game, but its totally fine to jump in at the 2nd game. i like the 2nd a good deal more so i could totally understand someone skipping the first

the battle animations in this game were the shit
@@yoppimedia Depended on the character. Tosh for example had great animations, though they got a little long. He'd do a samurai sword slash 3-5 times.
Arc 1 is such a neat compact adventure. 2 is worth the time and effort.
