You solved my problem without even saying it... The B/G in the callsign/gateway fields needs to be in the last position in the box, I was typing my call sign, single space, then the B/G. Watching you hit the space bar until you hit the end of the field and then going back one space to enter the letter was what I needed. Thank you!

I did apply already (DSTAR registration and granted) and will join the PAPA system here in So. Cal. where you were from probably. I will switch out my NEVER NOT used from last week - 2M DVAP for both the 1.25M and 70cm DVAPS at HRO on Monday. ONCE again, even the old Ham at HRO (read Joe San Diego) said you were great on his D74A to assist him: so you can IMAGINE how great a HELP (you Old Man Elmer - I'm 10 years your senior) THAT you are to me. I had my first QSO with my club's president today - simplex. The D74A is rather hard to learn over my training wheels analogs... W6COP - steve

Don thank you for taking the time to do this video without this video I think I would of given up on Dstar by following your Video it has got me up and running well with a DVmega and the Kenwood D74E. I have not managed to get the Kenwood to change the reflector on the radio but I can chose the reflector on the laptop and use it that way. Got it going with my TH-D74 and my SharkRF. It works the same, just like it shows in your video. Two questions, do you have to erase those repeaters on the bottom of the list, or can you just add your hotspot to the bottom of the list, Also, I can change reflectors with the radio like you show, but if there is somebody talking on the reflector, I can't change the reflector until they finish talking. Is there a way to change reflectors if the reflector is busy, or do I just have to wait until they finish talking. Thanks for a great video.
you have to make room on the repeater list in the MCP-74 program using the edit area like I showed in the video. And yes if you have a long winded talker you have to wait until he stops to key in unlink command. If connect to a computer you can force a reflector to qsy
Don: for this excellent video, at about 13 minutes into it, you use the "Down Arrow" to get to the "Repeater Select" screen where you select Repeater List > World Region (hotspot) > Country Select (DVAP) > Group Select (DVAP 220), etc. With some Reflector already selected, when I hit "Down Arrow" first time to select "Repeater List", I just go down to next Reflector in memory. What is the deleting of repeaters for? Is that really necessary? I believe there are plenty of free repeater spots still available after importing Kenwood's repeater list. Thank you for the video!
I have downloaded the file from dstarinfo and when importing into the M74 (ver 1.03), it imports but there is an error that some data could not be imported and that invalid data exists. Anyone else see that? I could use the file from kenwood, but that does not have any blank slots for country. I guess I could overwrite one, but just checking first.
Got the D74 a couple of weeks ago, and have been watching all the vids I can find. FM 2M, 220 and 440 are all set up. But going to all the websites I can to get DSTAR to work is seeming fruitless. I guess I'm stupid or something because I cannot get it to work. All vids have too many in-the-know mode-specific abbreviations/terms, that are not explained. D74 specific functions are not intuitive for a new person. I would wish for someone to do baby steps on all the settings with "what they are", "why", and "how and why they work". Thank you for your video, but as a newbie, it gets me nowhere.

Can you scan the all of the repeaters or the groups of repeaters programmed in the DR memories? I really like the feature of the ICOM D-STAR radios.

Dells can be awesome, I use Latitude 2120’s and 1200’s you’re right, small cheap easy to use.
there is a gap between battery and radio back. Makes the radio feel cheap. returned mine to AOL today.

How do you select the reflector you want to connect to? Does the programming S/W and cable come with the radio?
