I've always said that if you're not wearing a hat and singing with a "drawl" you ain't singing country. This is why this man epitomizes country music. All the flashy lights, feathered hair and "badonkadonks" are just not country. Those are things that Katy Perry or someone like that does. I heard a quote from Ray Charles at one point where he basically said that he liked country music because it always told a story. I think that's what's missing from a lot of todays music in general but it's really devastating to country in my opinion. The story is the very soul of a country song, and the reason why it evokes so many emotions in us as listeners.
I'm afraid we're all going have to support our local country music venues because we are not ever going to get true country from the corporatist in Nashville....

George still sounds like the king. His manager is a good friend of mine in Nashville. Erv. Terry Stafford wrote this song listed as #12 greatest country song of all time. Terry also had a mega hit called Suspicion. Terry died at 54 and is buried where he was raised, though he was born in Oklahoma his heart is buried in Amarillo.
My friends grandpa wrote “Hooked on a feeling” a couple songs for Elvis and a few other songs. Has collected royalties all these years and lives in a mansion plus made a shit load of money off of Guardians of the Galaxy! Guys a long haired hippie legend.
Aldous Huxley Mark James is like a few friends of mine that’s had one or two mega hits and the royalties never stop. Like Hey Baby, Last Kiss and Hey Paula. And Wind Beneath my Wings. Incredible.
I have absolutely no connection to the rodeo scene, and I’m not a country music fan (mostly Bach and all things baroque, actually). And I don’t really listen much to lyrics. But this song connects about as well as a song can. The first time I heard it, I immediately related to the words, much like “Wichita Lineman”, and liked everything about it. And no one can sing it like George Strait. I LOVE this song.
I'm from the UK, saw Ken Burns country music documentary during lock down last year and found George Strait, absolute master and this from Gruene hall is wonderful.

@Georgie strait l started listening to country in the early nineties. My wife bought me your CD, 50 number ones. My three favorite songs of yours are Amarillo By Morning, How bout them Cowgirls, Seashore of Old Mexico! I remember having country music forced on me at a job when I was in my middle twenties. All my ex’s live in Texas playing. I hated it. But now it one of my favorites. You see George, we do get smarter as we grow older. By far my most favorite George Strait songs. Heard it the first time in Amarillo in the 80’s while in inspecting a Marine Corps reserve command. It’s been my favorite ever since. Then had a Marine assigned to me from Amarillo. On my way back to the east coast I stopped by Amarillo to find him. Cates, I tried to find you after the Gulf War. Semper Fi
I love love this song and your performance. I never get tired of your voice and the tone and genuine emotion that comes through it. This is what country music is supposed to be about in my opinion!
George Strait - from his days as a "Singing Seargeant" thru his amazing career - has never failed to delight audiences. God Speed you on to all the great things you do - and to the reward you so rightfully deserve - hopefully not any time soon. Thank you so much for all you've done.
I’m lucky enough to have a horse in my Texas backyard…. Sun coming up behind a huge oak tree and horse grazing. I live about 30 min from gruene hall. God Bless Texas
First time I watched Pure Country and then when "Dusty" sang I Cross My Heart to the woman he loved, I felt this was one of the most romantic songs and not ashamed to say I cried tears of hope, happiness and love that were brought out by this man in that moment of a very enjoyable movie. Hearing this today, George still has that golden voice that carries you away with this song's story. To sing this well after all these years, simply amazing and so enjoyable. Thank you George Strait!

It's a song that moves you because the man in the song has lost everything that matters and it's his own damned fault.
Same for me. I think it’s because it’s a simple song, and that fiddle. The way the song fades to nothing but that fiddle; sounds like it’s crying.
The song resonates freedom. So it’s no wonder yall are crying like little bitches

@Susan Jones >Hey, I see you’re more of a country girl. would you to go on long drive in a big truck on a shiny little beamer with the ragtop down. Sittin' in the drive while the dogs were all barkin' and waggin' in the truck. Sippin’ on some cold Jack Daniel’s .
Joe Ohio Oh yes he is.
Incredible.
Top dos top
George Strait Your manager has it.
This is such a beautiful song, Toby was one of the best song writers this earth has ever seen, RIP Toby
I'm from the UK, saw Ken Burns country music documentary during lock down last year and found George Strait, absolute master and this from Gruene hall is wonderful.

Great song written by Terry Stafford and Paul Fraser. No one sings it better than George!

There has never been a better song written or recorded by the perfect artist.
Listen to the writer and original recording of this song by Terry Stafford.
@@rhondamalott9507 no I don’t think I will

I love it your song very memorable it nice
Always careful and take care yourself
I love George Strait, I’ms aging at about the same rate as he is. This gives me comfort about how short life really is.
I'm 57 and love song
@Georgie strait l started listening to country in the early nineties. My wife bought me your CD, 50 number ones. My three favorite songs of yours are Amarillo By Morning, How bout them Cowgirls, Seashore of Old Mexico! I remember having country music forced on me at a job when I was in my middle twenties. All my ex’s live in Texas playing. I hated it. But now it one of my favorites. You see George, we do get smarter as we grow older. I hope you come to Michigan, maybe my wife and I could come hear you sing.

Semper Fi

George Strait - from his days as a "Singing Seargeant" thru his amazing career - has never failed to delight audiences. God Speed you on to all the great things you do - and to the reward you so rightfully deserve - hopefully not any time soon. Thank you so much for all you've done.
His voice is even richer as he ages!
Thank you dear, where are you from?

I can see the cowboys on their horses walking through the tall grass on the plains coming home after a hot day on the ranch, love this song
