This vid brings back some really good memories... In 1981 I bought a lowrider exactly like this one, it had about 6k on the speedo then... Man, what was I proud as a 19 year old boy, riding this bike from my own hard earned money. I remember shifting and breaking it with my heels because it had no forward controls. Watching this vid now makes me feel I am back in 81 again ;-)
Thank you Todd for all the videos. I love seeing all of your beautiful bikes. I would really enjoy seeing more of the actual shop work that you put into your machines. You obviously put a lot of time and love into them. Thanks again.
put Marvel Mystery oil in each tank of gas, just a splash, and it will lube the guides. You can always covert the heads and guides, but not needed with this little trick
I bought one of these in 79 brand new... had several problems like if you got up over 70 mph it vibrated so bad the gauge needles would shake all over the place and sometimes a lifter or 2 would start knocking at highway speeds... the dealership never could figure this out... I couldn't stand that and sold it at 1900 miles... beautiful bike though...
todd. you mentioned that from 77-80 all Harleys had bad valve guides. but what about the bikes made during the origin to lets say 1977. if you put unleaded gas in lets say a 1970 sportster or any bike in the 70's wouldn't the unleaded gas affect the engine due to the fact that these engines were designed for leaded gas?
the sissy bar was optional. Solid lifter's was a way to get out of using factory hydraulic's. While the hydraulic's work good, when they work... when they fail..

My 2nd HD was exactly like this machine.

cool dude.
Love the bike but I can't get my brain to overlook that knock from the solid lifters. Beautiful bike though!
I’m considering buying one of these. What do you think?
Great bikes. Reliability is all about the mechanic.
Did all 79' model come stock with small sissy bar or was it an option? Think they looked better with out it just Me. Why the solid lifters?

I don't know if you'll see this but if you do any idea where I can find this exhaust
Ebay

My Favorite year Lowrider! How much you get for it if you don't mind Me asking?

Got to be a 79'.

Is that bike electric and kick start?
Yes, all FXS Lowriders were both kick and electric. These were made 77 to 84
11/16/17 I just posted that same bike in the same condition, for sale on eBay in the eBay motors section if anybody is interested in owning one.
4 speed on these models factory stock specs, always
You could not run unleaded gas in these engines? All they had then wasn't it?
Todd, I know you're talking 'cause I see yer mouth moving, but all I hear is potato potato.
