I was an audience member for one of his very first shows in 1984 I got to shake his hand at the end of the show and tell him how wonderful his show was and I do not remember what he said to me but I do remember him smiling and saying thank you he seemed so kind and gracious and I will never forget that day it is such a wonderful memory!
I was very little when I watched him and Kelly ripa on TV but I distinctly remember how my parents watched the show every morning. Regis was such a memorable person, even from a young kid's perspective. May he Rest In Peace
Regis Philbin admitted that he never really kept in touch with Ripa after he left the show. He said that apparently, she was upset that he hadn't informed her of his plans to retire (not unlike her anger when Michael Strahan left). Mr. Philbin remained very close friends with Kathie Lee Gifford right up until the time of his passing in July 2020

November 18th 2011 was the end of the great morning television period. Even now in 2021 i watched regis and kelly last show for the 10th anniversary yesterday.
Regis Philbin appeared on his last episode of Live With Regis and Kelly in 2011 and now almost a decade later, he'll be gone again but this time for good. However the memories of when Regis was here will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, you had a great life and a long television career and there will never be another television talk show host like you (1931 - 2020).
Regis was the best. When he left it was the last time I watched any daytime talk show. Nothing compares. The last of a better, and more civilized age of television. When he left it was gone forever.
I started watching Live in 1989. I was pregnant with my first child when I flipped the channel and Kathie Lee was talking about pregnancy. I fell in love with the show and the rest is history. Every morning I would laugh and sometimes cry. It was like watching family. I know you're up there with all the greats. RIP Regis You will be missed.

Whatever happened she did not speak to him or capped him the rest of his life from reports allegedly. He seemed to be genuinely hurt. I haven't watched the show since je left. Kathie Lee made a mensch out of him when he was so unsecured. She really knew when he needed a little boost during the show. He couldn't have done it without her. Kathie Lee deserves a lot of credit and I can't believe her name wasn't mentioned at all. R.I.P. Regis.

He was truly a man of his craft and came from an era when "television personalities" were actually people with personality, talent, charisma, etc. instead of having to rely on gimmicks and/or their parents' names and money for screen time. I saw an interview with him and Larry King where he said Kelly never talked to him after he left the show, that's very shocking considering how she seems so appreciative and emotional on this show. I don't get it. RIP Regis. the world will miss you.
A sad, sad day. I really miss him. But when he died was even sadder because of the finality of it all. But I'm sure that heaven is well entertained now with him there. Such an amazing career and a good person.

Even if they only did 6 months worth of shows a year that comes to just under 3,000 shows (130 shows a year at 23 years)....course you know they did more than 6 months worth every year. Even just 200 shows a year puts him at 4,600 shows. There's a reason he's got the record for most time in front of a camera.

I doubt if they really liked one another. Her speech to him at the end of the show was so phony. She didn't make a "real" announcement when he died, it came from the show. Kathie Lee's was more genuine and heartfelt. IMO
@@kcholden5180 Yes, correct again. When his good friend Larry King interviewed him and asked if he had ever been invited back to the show, Regis said no and he didn't know why. He was a real gentleman. I think he realized that Kelly was not interested in having him back, but he said nothing against her. That shows his real character. You don't see that quality of character much anymore!

He was a classy man. There is not one bad thing I can say about him. Heaven gained an amazing person. I am so sad he is gone.

@@larrydewein401 Regis and Kathie Lee would also go to the casinos and resorts here in the tri-state area during the weekends. Regis and Kelly just seemed to be a "working relationship". I doubt if they really liked one another. Her speech to him at the end of the show was so phony. She didn't make a "real" announcement when he died, it came from the show. Kathie Lee's was more genuine and heartfelt. IMO
@@kcholden5180 Yes, correct again. When his good friend Larry King interviewed him and asked if he had ever been invited back to the show, Regis said no and he didn't know why. He was a real gentleman. I think he realized that Kelly was not interested in having him back, but he said nothing against her. That shows his real character. You don't see that quality of character much anymore!
@@larrydewein401 AMEN to that one. I still can't believe he's gone . I feel like I lost a family member. I literally grew up with them. It makes my autographed picture from both Regis and Kathie Lee that more precious.
I'm crying right now I'm going to miss Regis
Regis will still be truly missed!
