  • I thought I was gonna be able to fit everything into the last episode, but it turned out I needed to make one more and it is a long one too. So it might be boring, but it is detailed and can be used by someone who needs to do the same job as a what to and what not to do video :) Learn from my mistakes... it is free LOL

Thank You Elin!! Very happy Triumph owner. This experience of dealing with you has been wonderful! So fortunate to have found you and have you rebuild this for me. Feel like I have made a new friend in the process. Barry

Superb set of videos which I will definitely use when re-building my GT6 box. The explanation of gear ratios and synchro operation makes the understanding of how it re-assembles easier to carry out.

So cool! I remember having done that job on my spitfire end of the eighties, i was 19 and close to dispaire getting the auxiliary shaft back in. No Elin at that time yet... Thank you a lot! Kindest regards, Jan

Hi Elin, very instructive lesson. As I wrote to you earlier, my transmission is Moss box belonging to a jaguar mk2 1964. There are differensces so I had hope you knew this box. I have problems connecting to the 4th gear. All the others are ok. hope you can help.

Elin, for the bolt that goes through to the wet side of the gearbox, i believe i have seen that bolt sealed with gasket sealer on the threads to further reduce the possibility of a leak. Great video!!

I’m pretty sure in the factory and all the manuals they use Zero gasket maker on assembly with perfect results... especially on the top assemblies where there is no oil or pressure...

Hi Elin! As a fellow Spitfire owner, I have been watching your videos for a few years to learn more and I'm always excited when I see you have posted something new. Well done and please keep posting! I do have a question that I would appreciate your opinion. I recently rebuilt my 1978 Spitfire 1500 gearbox. I installed it a few days ago and took it for a test drive. Everything works great, BUT, first gear has a whining noise. Doing some internet research, one reason could be the 1st/2nd syncro hub gear that engages with the reverse idler (when in reverse) is also engaged with the reverse idler when in 1st gear. These are straight cut gears, so inherently noisy. Is this possible? If so, is it normal? I see no way to adjust either the reverse idler, syncro hub or the shifter fork to resolve this. Trying to understand if I should try and resolve this or just leave it as is. Again, appreciate your thoughts. Thanks Elin!

Great to see the rebuild done.... it would be good to have a summary of which bits you reused or repaired from all the stuff you started with, and what you had to buy and from where.
Do you think that some bits that came from your car were not GT6 ?

I didn’t use anything from my parts. They turned out to be Spitfire parts. I bought everything I needed from Rimmers Bros. They have an overhauling kit, but I also bought some extra parts. There was a point in one of the videos when I went through all the new parts that I received.
