Hey man, just want to say that I really love your channel. I've watched every video and always excited for each release. Thanks for all your work, good to see someone else that appreciates the master piece that is Wallace and Gromit!
The reason why Wallace and Gromit is so tied to Christmas, in my opinion, is because it just has that warm, cozy feeling of spending Christmas day with people you love to spend time with.
I distinctly remember watching A Matter of Loaf and Deaf on Boxing Day 2008. We were too busy to watch it on Christmas, I think, so my parents recorded it for us to watch the next day. It was definitely exciting for me, since I was a big fan of the series, and this was the first new film they'd released in a few years. (Coincidentally, Curse of the Were-Rabbit was actually the second film I ever saw in theaters)
I didn’t know Wallace and Gromit were so connected to Christmas in the UK. In the US, we watch a different type of stop-motion, in the form of Rankin/Bass’ holiday specials.
I loved watching Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death and Doctor Who: The Next Doctor together on Christmas day in 2008. I also loved that they both got to be the BBC One Christmas idents in 2008 and 2009, making my teenage years feel like our childhood would stay forever. It would truly be a Christmas miracle to have these two epic franchises together on Christmas day in the future, though I'm unsure which one would get to be the BBC One Christmas ident if it's on the same year.
I like how your channel highlights traditions and culture unique to Britain. Between this, the tea monkey, and the Zoo Pals (I think that’s their name?), it introduces me to stuff I and others in the States and abroad would otherwise have no idea of (I know of Wallace and other Aardman cartoons but it’s nowhere near as popular as in the UK). Have a happy holiday and a prosperous new year, all!
I still remember eagerly watching A Close Shave on its Xmas premiere. It was definitely the point everyone realised these two were gonna take on. It's great the shorts remained a tradition for the festivities (and commonly air on other holidays like Easter as well), all the more wonderful that another film is being made to add to the rotation. We do at least have a Shaun the Sheep Xmas special, but it'd be cool if we got a proper W+G Xmas instalment one day.
I actually have those Wallace and Gromit stamps! Cracking little pack, it came with one of each of the stamps, and a little advent calendar type thing with some classic W&G info on the back, like Wallace's list of presents for Gromit and New Year's resolutions.
Looks like you have correctly predicted that Vengeance Most Fowl will premiere on BBC One right on Christmas Day this year! As someone who has never lived in the UK, this video has helped me understand why that air date is the case.
They don't play Wallace and Gromit in America. They play football and basketball on Christmas here. Going to the movies used to be a big thing here in America. But since 2020, that tradition has died. And most companies have figured out, "why bother splitting the revenue with theaters, when we can get 100% of the revenue on our own streaming service?" So nowadays they release the movies directly to streaming on Christmas. Netflix actually did something weird, that apparently is going to be their new normal, they released the creepy Pinocchio movie & the Knives Out sequel in theaters, and then on netflix at Christmas.
I watched A Close Shave and A Matter of Loaf and Death on premiere at Christmas, and A Grand Day Out and The Wrong Trousers on repeat, still at Christmas, before getting the official VHS releases, all separately in those days, boxsets weren't a big thing then. (They did exist in the VHS days, if anyone doesn't know, they were just rare, we have 2, one a Looney Tunes compilation, the other the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice series) Those VHS releases were the first home releases of something I ever bought. I still have them for the sentimental value of that. I also remember 20 years ago (agh!) rushing to set up the VCR to catch any showing of a Cracking Contraptions episode, ending up with a few doubles. It was only when The Curse of the Wererabbit was released on DVD that I finally saw the full set. Shaun the Sheep hasn't been as big a thing at Christmas for me, but it's Shaun, so I do check in. I got his advent calendar this festive season, for example. I still remember the Christmas episode where the flock set up a big day for the Farmer because he was going to be alone at Christmas. Sadder than that scene was Bitzer sobbing over it and Shaun comforting him. The feels! Edit: Oh, and I also got a Gromit plushie this time! Cracking!
I have memories of me & my Dad trying to catch an episode of Cracking Contraptions and being extremely disapointed when it was a re-run. I believe the series was created based off of a calendar in order to bridge the gap of content as Nick Park was busy with Chicken Run, and later Curse of the Were-Rabbit. There was actually a little tie-in web browser game based on one of idents from around the time of A Matter of Loaf & Death, I have distinct memories of it. Unfortunely due to Flash's death and numerous website updates, it's lost to time now.
I have a theory about the Google ad I think Piella was alive because she somehow survived being eaten by alligator and kinda went through an unseen redemption arc
when they are skiing in the snow do u think its a referance to the cooker from a grand day out also did u know one of the museum display cases in the wrong trousers had a puma from creature comforts in it
I wish they would release a proper Christmas special that is actually set at Christmas. They called the 2008 release a Christmas special but it was not set at Christmas.
That would be a cool idea actually. We SORTA got that with a couple of the Xmas themed Cracking Contraptions, as well as a Shaun the Sheep Xmas special, but no proper Xmas themed W+G short. Maybe after the upcoming one, it would fit the BBC format of a six episode series with an Xmas special at the end.
@@SomeBoiOnline oh I didn't realise it was BBC 2. Gutted I missed it! I know w&g is on BBC 3 tonight. I saw Shaun the sheep was on but I recently watched it on Netflix so didn't bother, plus I didn't have control of the TV so I was never gonna get Wallace and gromit stuff on anyway 😭
Hey man, just want to say that I really love your channel. I've watched every video and always excited for each release. Thanks for all your work, good to see someone else that appreciates the master piece that is Wallace and Gromit!
Thanks so much man, that means the world!

That Google ad was the greatest crossover event ever. Loved it so much.

That sounds pretty similar to my experience 😊
You are a rather young lad!
Glad to see younger people enjoying W&G
@@nicks4802 not really that young, I'm 26

Yeah it's definitely a weird British oddity! 😅
The UK had those too but they got Phased out of TV in the early 8o's thanks to stuff like The Snowman and more UK created ones.
Banger, found this vid after watching the wrong trousers yet again. Cracking video, gromit.
Thank you! 😊

Agreed, how magical that would be!
I'm sat watching this with a Wallace and Gromit mug I got for Christmas, filled with PG Tips tea :D
The ideal way to watch 😊 hope you had a great Christmas!
@@SomeBoiOnline thanks you tooo :D
Haha watched all four films this morning on BBC 2. Always a tradition to watch every year
Great, I saw that they were all playing earlier!
By the time I get to watching them (after Christmas Dinner), it was either The Wrong Trousers or it was A Close Shave I was able to see
Brill! Love sitting down with a cup a tea to watch your videos. Aardman should see these.
Thanks so much, that would be a dream come true 😊

That's brilliant to hear, exactly what I've been going for 😀 Happy holidays to you too!
I demand the best of both worlds - Gromit as the new Doctor!
I couldn't argue with that! 😅
Gromit is my 2nd pick for my top vote for the next doctor (behind any of the Muppets)
Thank you for all this about W&G.
Now I just want a bit about CHEEEEEEESE, Grommet.
Definitely. Ever since 1993 when i was little. Many many fond memories

We're finally getting a new Wallace and Gromit at Christmas this year!
Looks like you have correctly predicted that Vengeance Most Fowl will premiere on BBC One right on Christmas Day this year! As someone who has never lived in the UK, this video has helped me understand why that air date is the case.
oh I remember being hyped as hell for and watching A Matter Of Loaf And Death as it premiered in 2008
2:29 Haha, so creepy but cute XD
It's somewhere between the two isn't it? 😅

Yeah I'm not sure I like the direction it's all going to be honest...

Wonderfully done as always, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all. :3
Thanks so much, you too! 😁
A idea becomes a reality, Merry Christmas Some Boi Online!
Indeed, thank you!
I normally get excited to see a new short reference to them like the bbc one transition or something.
Only happened on a couple of occasions, so it'd be a big deal if they did!
I love these two, especially at Christmas!! ✌️☺️

Yeah it definitely was to provide some content whilst The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was being conceptualised. That's really interesting!
I also heard that Japanese networks were asking them for more Wallace and Gromit content they could air, since the duo were pretty popular there.
2023 Marks 30 Years of Jurassic Park, Animaniacs and of course FEATHERS MGRAW!!!
Although a bit more of a Thomas The Tank Engine man myself I've always popped these on for the family at Christmas.
A wise choice 😊
Have you heard of the gromit unleashed merch shop in Bristol.
It has so much merch such as gromit mugs
I have indeed, cool place.
@@SomeBoiOnline yeah I love to visit it. Has lots of merch.
Merry Christmas, and a happy new year🌲
Same to you, thanks! 😁
To think ur prediction has come true to think now we only have less then 50 days til the film drops ! 🥰❤️
I have a theory about the Google ad
I think Piella was alive because she somehow survived being eaten by alligator and kinda went through an unseen redemption arc
It's fun for a crossover but I'd hope they wouldn't do it in the films, she was a serial killer after all so she had it coming 😅
when they are skiing in the snow do u think its a referance to the cooker from a grand day out

Possibly a Grand Day Out reference, didn't think of that!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hope christmas is going well for you! From the US, but I hope we get the new film the same time as the UK!

Does the Snowman-o-matic (I think that was its name) from Cracking Contraptions not count?
Well BBC two this year since the king booked in his first speech for BBC one lol
I've heard you own a dalek prop but what I'm wondering is have you ever got inside it.
Amazingly I haven't yet, I'm planning to do a video on him soon so may demonstrate it then 😆
Cool
3:56 Spider Gromit
Wallace and gromit wasn't on BBC 1 for this Christmas. Gutted
I believe Shaun the Sheep was which they technically make a cameo in 😅 though they played every W&G film on BBC2 Christmas day.

Yeah it can be confusing as they appear across the three BBC channels.
hmmh, good pass time for christmas day if i get spiderman 2 on ps5, if i let that download on my console then watching W&G
