    just love Marks analysis. Marc, i have learned more from you in the last few months than many many years of reading, just by you showing the board and making commentary on position, structure etc. thnx heaps !

    Great video, thank you! I found that outside prime is not as effective, because the return of any hit checker is easier than in case of an inner prime, where the return is prevented / obstructed by the prime itself. And of course it is also absolutely true that in case of outside prime it takes more time to put all own checkers into the home board (during which time the opponent's checkers can easily escape).

    Amazing video. I would appreciate a video where you would explain how to count PR, what is luck rating, equity etc.

      Great suggestion! PR is not something you calculate. It is your "Performance Rating" calculated by Extremegammon, the strongest Backgammon engine in the world. It is essentially an error rate, the lower the better. If you play 0.00, then you play perfect according to the engine.

    Thank you for sharing. Could you please make a video about the shaker-cup.
    Why do different boards have different shape shaker-cups?
    Why do shaker-cups have a lip like groove built on the inside?
    How to use a dice with shaker-cup correctly, or with special shaker-cup technique?
    What are the rules of using the shaker-cup?

    Excellent stuff. Do you know why an outside prime is called "California prime by Paul Magriel? In 1997, I attened the Nord Wide Open tournament in Copenhagen. The final was played between Tommy Westerlund and Thierry Manouck. The final was live commented by Paul Magriel. And when an outside prime was on the board, X-22 in his live commentary sometimes called this structure "California prime".

    Are you guys going to post a video about playing a back game? Your rating system doesn't appreciate it, as someone confirmed in an email to me.

    • @BackgammonGalaxy
      @BackgammonGalaxy  3 роки тому +1

      XG 3-ply analysis plays backgames better than any human. So it is not anything to worry about, even though there are some rare cases where 3-ply gets a decision wrong. Making a video on backgames is a great idea!

    If the outer prime is not as good for the race then, conversely, it must be better for timing in a prime vs prime battle or in a prime vs backgame..

    • @BackgammonGalaxy
      @BackgammonGalaxy  3 роки тому

      Well that really depends on the rest of the position, especially where the opponent's anchor is placed. If you have an outside prime from 5- to 9-point, and your opponent has his anchor on your 4-point, it is not good for timing, since you will be running out of mobility earlier, and have to crunch your 9 point earlier.

    I make the correct move 13/10(2) 13/7*(-0.149)
    The computer says you made a mistake and you should make this move 13/7*(2) what's going on ? my checkers end up in the same position as what the computer says is the correct move yet when it comes to the PR I don't win the game. Look at my last example on here I win 6 out of 7 games and my rating goes up just one point so what the computer is saying is that they played better than me if that is correct how come they did not win the games? Also, the rolls are crazy it's like every game you get unreal rolls. still, it's a bit of fun and as such that is the way one should look at it.

    I played today I have a 6 prime lots of time I double he takes at present he has higher rating than me he ended up winning the game I don't think in all the years I have been playing anyone has taken the cube when I have had a 6 prime it's going to be interesting as to how long it's going to take me to reach a rating of 2400 and become a grand master

      Just felt like commenting on your comment on becoming a grand master. Indeed, it can take a while, but not as long as in chess. So keep at it! Also, for the record, although Backgammon Galaxy labels those as above 2400 as being grand masters, plenty of them really are not (myself included). If you want that prestige, you need to have an average PR of less than 4.0, and need to prove it through a rigorous process: bgmastersab.com/

      @@mackenzieusher8025 Thank's for the info very interesting I have stopped watching football when I am playing so the rating now is up to just under 1950 I intend to play a live tournament some time in the furture I remember when I played in the World Championship in Monte Carlo I took a big bag of money to bet on myself in match's but because I had beaten the current world champ in the British Championship I could not get a bet down my odds were very short. When I play live in the future I intend to take another big bag of money as this time no one will know who I am 'I will be what they call a ringer lol

    I win six out of seven of my last matches every one I played had a higher rating than me how much did MY rating go up? the answer one point.
    This cannot be right there is a flaw in the way the rating system works.
    In my opinion, the way the ratings are worked out needs to be changed.

      Backgammon Galaxy is still under development... We have a small team, which is about to grow! So we will be doing our best to fix all the remaining small issues, and even develop further.
