The fact that a person like him was a doctor. HE IS OOERATING AND IN MOVIE APPARENTLY HE IS THE BEST. its not like that. Alot of things movie are actually happening in real world too (its just disgusting that this movie is kinda romanticizing it when it actually is in many ways abuse ) but the fact that this movie is encouraging people like them with absolutely no temper control and freaks are being motivated too be a doctor. Giving the aspirants a wrong image of personality that a person should have in such a delicate field. 1st of all a person so messed up in head can't become a doctor leave the best in field. 2nd of all it jist degraded the dignity of all the doctor. And last but not the least, i had this "what the hell is wrong with them" face throughout the movie

Mad Men. Training Day. Wedding Crashers. Etc, etc, etc. It's like they just don't see themselves but have binoculars for everyone else.
It's like they forgot what an "anti-hero" in movies and literature is, despite soaking it up in their own film industries.
This is tiresome. Again we give a pass to others and come down hard on ourselves?

A movie that has a grey character is being judged for having a grey character. Imagine people judging Joker for being Joker and Leonardo's character in Blood Diamond for being unethical. Art can be anything. Art shouldn't be judged. And it's not the film's fault if half the world is liking the movie and making the protagonist a hero. It's not the movie's fault. It's people. The people are problematic. We can watch the movie as a complicated love story and leave it at that without glorifying the hero. But people did. And that's not the film's fault.

Thank you for saying this, you speak my mind. Art can be projected upon by the audience as they wish. Here we have a character sketch of Kabir and for me it was a good character sketch. They showed his flaws and how they led to his destruction.
But at the same time, they also showed how there are still a few good experiences that Kabir has in his life, the romantic bits of the movie.
This is good because even a person like Kabir does not just have negative experiences, he does have positive ones too, and that makes it a bitter sweet experience rather that just a plain 1 dimensional character arch. It's the audience's problem that they find these 'bits' as somehow glorifying Kabir....or promoting his ways..
It seems to me that despite the fact that the movie was made for adults, it's a lot of kids whining about what they have projected upon it.

@@devilslettuce7339 lol American society which you are idolising for freedom is facing societal degeneration and is crumbling , even normal white sane women who wants to live normally can't cope with their current society, the other day 3 woke radical feminists were shaming a woman on television show who posted her daily routine as a house wife and happy moments with her husband and 3 children on Facebook some years back.. and what there in America is not Freedom for women but radical Feminism which was created by smart capitalist "white dudes", how it is created by capitalists go do some case studies of feminism in America and how it is related to capitalits..BTW I m certainly not defending south asian countries because they are indeed judgemental and narrow minded against divorces and that too specially against divorced females because myself being a woman can't deny this fact at all.. but the last thing we should learn from America is "Freedom for women" because it is non-existent.. they are slave of radical ideology , they literally are making brigade of women who are highly toxic and is promoting ideology which is equal to toxic masculinity , they are promoting adultery in disguise of choice and will... If you argue how are they ahead rest of the world if not for their progressiveness my answer will be because of capitalism but they will not be on top for the long time because from societal values to innovative researches and including its economy are steadily declining .. Go and visit China personally you will see how China is now way ahead of America in many things but still have intact culture and less divorce rates... The thing what I m trying here to prove is we have less divorce in south Asian countries specially in India.. one factor is pressure from judgemental society but another factor is culture and religion which teaches us to be faithful/loyal to the partner (not denying that adultery also do happen in India).

The actors clearly mentioned that the film was meant to present problematic characters to the audiences, instead of a "Hero" or "Villain". My dearest Avanti, The main character in the Joker film, Arthur, never learned to forgive and held grudges. He eventually killed some people in order to exact personal vengeance, which ultimately destroyed all of his success. The lesson for audiences here is to forgive others and not seek vengeance. Kabir Singh belongs to a similar genre.
Every aspect of life contains both positive and negative messages. Kabir Singh is a film with two sides. It has the potential to motivate some people to make positive changes. At the same time, it has the potential to corrupt people and lead them down the path of self-destruction. It is now up to you to decide which message you want to take away from the film.

This is the reason why all aspects were shown organically in the movie. Rather than calling the whole movie problematic, we can just send this message that, the character of Kabir Singh is that toxic person nobody should become. What is a movie about a serial killer teaching you, where he doesn't get caught ergo no redemption? (Zodiac) or where he is killing but he is *inherently* good? (Dexter)
Or where people are messed up? (Cruel Intentions)
Every movie doesn't have to teach you something, it is not made for impressionable teens, but A rated.
It is just a goddamn story about a dysfunctional couple and how intense and toxic their love can be.
This moral grandstanding somehow just accepts that every individual who watches a 'Silence of the Lambs' will become a serial killer or in this case an abuser.

first of all i respect your honest reactions ,but i would like to mention that some movies are meant to give you a message and some are just made for pure entertainment like if i ask you what message does "conjuring" gives to you or movies like "purge"or like some mentioned 50 shades . the point is that these movies are just made for you to put yourself in that situation and get that experience while you're watching it. now some people may find that experience entertaining and some might not. But if you're going in to watch the movie thinking that i will definitely learn something because I learned something from 3 idiots, is just stupid and yes the movie will teach you a TON of bad things and that's why it is made for specific audience who are above 18 right, people who are intelligent enough to understand what is right and wrong. For example: now this is not a comparison with kabir singh alright but if we take example of fast and furious , does the movie teaches you to become a world class criminal for the family? no it's just a STORY made for entertainment so you may like it or not like it but questioning the morals that movie TEACHES you is probably not the the best thing to do. Personally i think it was good entertainment but along with action , romance and drama we can add 'PSYCOLOGICAL HORROR' as one of it's genre

For me in this movie if i think openly maybe the approach they showed wasn't a great idea. they were just trying to show that a boy loved the girl from the moment he saw her for the first time. And he was open about it that he likes her. if she had turned him down then if he was still forcing her to be with him then it would be bad. but it didn't happen. she liked him back. and what part was abusive? that 1 slap? she slapped him first. what that didn't matter bcoz she's a girl? it was girl who didn't took any stand for him in the whole movie. he was there for her from the beginning till the end of the college. but when he actually was alone thrown out from his house and he actually needed some1 she wasn't there. bcoz there was no emotional support his downfall towards alcohol and drugs started. And he could have easily gotten away with the charges of operating on patients while consuming alcohol but instead he owned up his mistakes and got his licence cancelled. for me that's a foot towards redemption. i don't know how you watched that movie and came to that conclusion. but i think you all weren't watching properly. if you want a boy who has a Zen vibe as an actor then sorry this movie wasn't for you. but if you look at the real world everyone has flaws and you mature as person with your mistakes and experience. and that was shown when he owned his mistakes and quit alcohol.

But the good qualities what he had are loving genuinely, being honest,
Having great skills in his profession which comes with absolute focus on academics
Director wanted to show a real life charecter not a cinematic charecter,
Cinematic charecters are generally hero means he has all good qualities
Villan means he has all bad qualities
But in real life it's not true
