  • In this video we take a look at some of the changes done to the software.
It may look like less progress than from the other updates but actually many parts of the software were partially rewritten and required a lot of testing and development time in order to make further development easier and everything more capable.
This video is mostly to show you that there is indeed a lot of development still going on even if most of the changes were improvements of existing features or mostly invisible. A lot of time was spent making sure everything works as intended after porting over to FreeRTOS and improving the overall stability.

This project is astonishingly comprehensive. Having recently purchased a new wheelbase I won't be using it in the near term, but have dreams of graduating to a more robust rig and I can't wait to utilise this project. It's already so complete I'm looking forward to seeing what you add next.

    G'day again mate.
I managed to re build my very ordinary ff wheel for now, buying me more time until you reckon you have a near finished unit. I steer like a boss yet don't understand a thing about tech on your projects development. So will wait patiently and hope for quote on a full built unit to purchase.
    keep up the efforts.

awesome work on the UI, and implementing all the functions
oh and, will there be Linux Support (i suppose, due to the open source nature of this prorject)

amazing! great job . I recently bought odrive, and i 'd like to know, is it possible to use a stm32f407 discovery to control it using your firmware? cause i just dont have the openffboard yet, and odrive seems up to the task, its a good motor controller, already comes with braking resistor circuit, and with two channels (motor 0 and 1) it opens the possiblility to use multi axis motor control someday

Odrive support via CAN was recently added. I would recommend the actual FFBoard hardware for that because it has a CAN transceiver on board.

Would it be worth implementing a seperate power just for the end stop? Giving the ability to have the endstop at a high power level compared to the forcefeedback effects.
Also thinking about it, (this would take alot of time and might not be worth it) you could probably use FFB to eliminate the inertia caused from the mass of the rotor and attached steering wheel. (this could be used the other way to simulate a heavier wheel, this could eliminate the osscilations you mentioned.)
btw love this series just starting watching :)

It is already the case with the endstop. You can set a lower effect percentage. The rest is then only endstop.

What's up buddy? I'm really enjoying your channel. Could you teach us how to ride a wheel like this from the start? Thank you and stay with God.

There is a video about building a setup like that but when it gets more polished i might make a video how to set it up and tune everything.
