Mints like the bombared mint boost their family. It means that they boost plants that are part of there classes. Like the bombared mint boosts plants that explode like potato mine, The spear mint boosts plants like lazer bean and bloomerang. The only thing is that they boost them for a short period of time. To unlock them you must require 100 candy mints to unlock one. The easy way to grind some is by playing arena.

What did the bombarmint do to the potato mines?
Some things about arena:
1. There’s a featured plant every tournament that is automatically put in your selection.
2. Certain families of plants are stronger, weaker, or doesn’t affect zombies at all. (Look at the symbol at the top left of each plant, that is their family)
3. There is usually a travel log quest (in the events tab) that features the arena that will be upcoming, so use that to plan out strategies.
4. You get a free play every 4 hrs or so and then after that you need gauntlets to keep playing.
5. Boosted rice bomb is stupidly op with power tiles
6. all other players are actually bots, literal A.I

8. Never go to higher level if your plants aren't that powerful because you will get you ass kicked trust me

The primal plants are some of the best plants in the game
Primal walnut can stall basically anything
Primal sunflower is a direct upgrade from all other sun producers
And primal potato mine is probably the best plant you get in adventure mode
Being able to clear entire levels just using its plant food and it being decently spamable for an instant
Tho primal peashooter gets overwhelmed very easily
Although I think moonflower is the best sun producer in the game when in groups (especially with magnifying glass spam) primal sunflower is pretty broken as well

A quick tip wolfy, yes the mints are actually boosting their own family but every mint has its own ability also, for example the bombard mint(the one you had) boosts the primal potato mines and blows up three random cherry bombs, so you can clear hoards of zombies by using the power plant to refresh the mint and use it again, this is my strategy for my arena setup but i use the Reinforcemint family plus Blover and i rank Gold league with it

Hey Wolfy, as you may have seen bombard mint also causes 3 explosions upon activation, which are actually as powerful as a cherry bomb so usually its best to use it at the start of a big wave
The arena is great, but i love to see you complete the campaign first so that you can unlock more plants to use. I am really loving the series so far
Yeah. Best to know what you’re up against first, so experience all plants and zombies in adventure and then go fight in arena.
Just pointing this out Wolfy- Arena isn't live multiplayer, you're not battling another player, you're simply battling a clone of their best run.
Bombardmint itself is really good, it sets off 3 cherry bombs pretty much. It’s just that the plants it buffs are mainly instant use besides the potato’s and balloon flower

Tip: With one use plants or plants with a slow cool down if you have a spare plant food you can instantly refresh the seed packet. This is very helpful when a plant especially the mints boost your overall dps. Knowing this can help and create some of the most broken strategies in the game like Blover + Reinforcement as one plant food is an instant screen wipe.

I'm also pretty surprised how much I enjoy Arena. I only played it for the first time around the start of this month while I was recompleting this game and it's basically all I do on this game now lol
also one thing to note with the mints is that they all have a some kind of effect or attack that they do when placed, with Bombard-mint causing explosions on placement. Fila-mint and Spear-mint are probably the best ones, so if you decide to get a mint then I'd recommend waiting for one of those.
I don't think you realised that Bombard-mint doesn't just boost explosive plants, but she has a standalone attack which is disgustingly OP, it's like setting off Cherry Bombs across the lawn. Case in point, I literally managed to win a game at the LAST second by planting one as soon as she recharged and just barely got more points.
Also, most arena matches are 3 minutes, but occasionally they're 2 or 1:30 minutes.

In terms of mints, you absolutely want to get Spearmint, it is a free instant-win button on every adventure level except the second to last one. However if you don't want to is it for that, it's also technically the best sun producer in the game

The thing about arena is that is that it's very unfriendly towards newcomers, although matchmaking appears to be way better than it was originally.
It favors players who have played the game for a long time (like me) and p2w players as most of the meta is centralized around limited time arena plants like Pea Vine, Imp Pear, Stickybomb Rice, and Turkey-Pult. There are some exceptions like Bowling Bulb, Tile Turnip, and Primal Potato Mine. Although higher or decently levelled plants are practically required because the mode, like Penny's Pursuit was made with that in mind.
Mints boost plant families and have entry entry effects which like Heath Seeker trivializes adventure levels, although some mints are better than others.
Arena is also very repetitive because each weak or tournament has you playing the same level over and over again. I only play arena for the rewards. Penny's Pursuit is just cleanup for players who missed out on a plant's initial season. In June there are blowout seasons where players have the chance to obtain plants they missed or level them up (plants this time were chosen by fans as Pokra, PPM, and Imp Pear are amazing).
One mistake I learned the hard way about arena is that defensive plants are nearly useless because like Penny's Pursuit zombies are levelled up, so they are insanely bulky and have increased eating speed, so they just tear through walls. Infi-nut may come in handy sometimes, but usually only with Reinforce-mint.
Just stick to adventure for now.
The game sends the opponens based on your score and streak. If you are scoring higher, you will also face higher scoring enemies

The bombbard mint blows up everything in its path AND boosts its family plants. Primal potato mines deal massive damage and can destroy zombies in different lanes. Always play both of them down. Also, drag plant food to any plant on cool down and it instantly gets them ready to go. Hope this helps.
If you ever do decide to use mints, keep in mind you can use plant food to INSTANTLY refresh it's seed slot rather than waiting forever for it to reload
Also you should get the Imp Pear, its a really good plant that will help you out a ton on any level or objective

This is definitely my favorite series on UA-cam right now
Primal potato mine is pretty much the best plant you can get without paying money. It primes itself almost instantly, deals cherry bomb type damage, and has the same splash as cherry bomb (3x3). After it’s first upgrade, it’s splash gets even larger. Basically, it’s insanely powerful and easily spammable.
I would recommend finishing Adventure before delving into Arena, because then you’ll actually know a lot more about the plants and zombies you’re facing. Plus, make sure to read the “How to play” on the arena screen
i dont see anyone mentioning it so I will. Hair Metal Gargantuars are the strongest gargatuars in the game (either that or the jurassic ones). Their crushing attack shockwave is supposed to only happen during his "jam" (neon mixtape tour gimmick). A good counter for them are defensive plants like space johnny, because one crushing attack doesn't instantly kill them. Also primal potato mine is insanely powerful, practically acting like a 3x3 potato mine. Arena is definitely recommedned for post-adventure because then you know all the gimmicks and have the full array of plants

Well since your starting Arena Battlez, its important to note Buffs and Bruizes, and Plant Families. 3 families of Plants can be either buffed (increased damage), nerfed (reduced damage), and in the most extreme case, outright unusable. And each mint boosts a Plant Family, and has a special attack with 0 cost
5:41 oh yeah, you should probably note. Hair Metal Gargs in Modern Day have their "Jam" forever. Their "Jam" also gives them a Projectile
The thing is wolfy that the uno reverse cards were in there the whole time, you just did not see them until half of the video

Quick warning/advice, Arena can get very overwhelming very quickly, especially the higher up you go. So many Zombies, so many things happening at once, so many things you need to multi-task in order to be successful, and sometimes it doesn't matter how well you play, how well you pay attention, if you brought the best available plants for the current arena, you will lose regardless. Can be very frustrating, but also extremely fun and addicting.
Also, because arena is always different every few weeks or days, it's always fun to check out what new set-up and challenge awaits.

Here’s a tip, any time explosive plants aren’t nerfed by the buffs and bruises use explosive plants and sun production.
Wolfy, the 4 primal plants are upgrades of the ones you already had
Primal Peashooter not only does more damage and stuns zombies for a short time but has a chance to push them away from the house
Primal Wall-nut not only can resist some attacks that would kill a normal Wall-nut, but recharges real quick
Primal Sunflower produces way more sun and way more quickly than normal Sunflower
And Primal Potato Mine gets ready quick and also explodes in a 3x3 space, just like Cherry Bomb (and this area gets bigger as you upgrade it)

Hey Wolfy Imp Pear is OP, it can turn any zombie in the game into an imp, even Gargantuars

Hair Metal Gargantuar, the Gargantuar of Neon Mixtape Tour and the worst one. The game doesn't tell you this, but Space Johnny (not the plant food just by itself) can block the shock waves and even when the hologram is out it can still block it making it the only plant to be immune to shock waves.
Some of the mints are actually kinda broken in adventure. My personal favourite is Spear-mint, if you have some plant food for its seed packet once you use it straight away, you have two columns of high level spike rocks that destroy every thing other than gargs, mechs, etc.
Btw every mint has an effect on placement that doesn't matter what you have on the field. Bombard mint causes a couple of explosions.
Primal potato mine is basically a cherry bomb.
Winter melon is great if you put on just lanes 2 and 4 which will cover every lane in slow
i have two things to say
1. warning, there are those sweats who get like 5 million points
2. Those shockwave gargantuar thingys, are the hardest zombie in the game, and after dark ages, have fun :)
Primal potato mine does a lot more damage, it has splash damage in a 3x3 area, but you’ll have to finish Dark ages , the next world, and most of the world after the next one to unlock him. In fact, all the primal plants are stronger than their normal counterparts, primal wall-nut can survive a hit from gargantuar.

Leveling up plants seems good on paper but its a actually shit if you ever wanna have fun again. If you have any fully maxed out plant you just put one in each row and you win, thats it. It almost works with just peashooters too, one peashooter in every lane and you win with no way to level down, thats fun. Just a warning for the future
You should try to get to high arenas, the 100 gem piñatas get a lot more seed packets as you go, so you can upgrade more and unlock mints. Also, the buffs and bruises correlate to the plant family icons. Green arrows are stronger, orange arrows are weaker, and red X's mean it does no damage. As a mint to unlock, I would recommend Spear mint, it slams down 5 leveled up spikerocks and buffs them.
Arena is for more competitive gameplay. Because the plants are getting powered up and buffs so the purpose of the Arena is to test your skills in strategizing againsts the given zombies while also the opponent does the same and which ever the score is the highest before time runs out wins.
Just wait until Wolfy finds out that the gargantuar in this arena is in the next adventure world . . .

For Guitar Gargantuar just set up a row of infi-nuts, they actually absorb his shockwaves, even if space johnny is fainted.
I enjoy arena for a few weeks now. You are pretty good at arena, i think. If you ever got to the higher rank, it will be rough. I have met people that got million and million of point. Personally i dont really care about getting high point, im just trying to beat the enemies point by a couple thousand point, my highest is almost 4 million (3.8mil) but again, i dont care that much. I have 3 power mint, pepper mint, enchant mint and ail mint with pepper mint being my favourite, mostly because i have lv 4 fire peashooter. USUALLY i go for dusk lobber with firepea shooter for main attacker, with primal potato mine OR cherry bomb for instas and pepper mint to boost my fire peashooter.
I've found cherry bomb is a hilariously good plant when not nerfed, what you do is bomb as many as possible all the way on the right for max points.
Arena is very repetitive, but the rewards are too good to ignore

Here, how arena work:
Arena record how you do the level and then other players play vs that replay when certain time passes the level change (you can actually try the level before entering arena in the travel log) you can play free every 4 hours or spend guantelets, the more points you get the more rewards you get and some new plants too
That's all you need to know, here you can unlock plants like seeker for free if you play enough, normally arena and penny persuit are "linked" so watch for both if you see something especial

The next time they let you use Premiums in Arena, I'm sure everyone would be fine with you using plants like Heath Seeker and Bramble Bush, since Arena is what they were made for. Really enjoyed this different taste of PvZ2 content, and I'm interested if you'll continue playing Arena even after you beat the Adventure
Arena is pretty fun especially since the level will switch weekly. I recommend getting as many plants as you can ASAP so you can try many strategies!

I would recommend finishing adventure before touching arena. By the time you finish adventure, your plants will be leveled up much further and you’ll just have more of them. For example: one of the current top starts is using plants form modern day, the final world.
im an arena player and heres some tips for the tournaments
tournament means nothing is buffing your plants in anyway
boosterama means all plants but mints are boosted as if they where from the zen garden
champion blowout season happens every once and a while and its tournaments based on the most used plants of arena that year (or from a vote on twitter from the pvz2 team as this time was a pole on twitter)
imp pear is one of the best plants along with primal potato mine
and thats about it for the tournaments oh and theres a new tournament after a set amount of days and with each new tournament (except boosterama's of the previous tournament) the amount of time you get to rack up points is changed

after every month or week or so the arena changes to a new season which promotes a new mint and plant for example this week's tournament has impair. as you progress in the arena you can get seed packets for him and unlock him very easily. Also at the end of every arena even if you are at the brick league you unlock 75 gems 5000 coins and 50 mints.
primal wall nut: for 25 extra sun you can get a faster recharge and eat multiple gargantuar smashes
primal pea shooter: for 75 extra sun, zombies stop moving for a bit after every pea, and peas have a chance to push them back, they also have higher dps
primal sunflower: for 25 extra sun, makes 25 more sun every sun it drops
primal potato mine: potato mine but cherry bomb

I'd personally enjoy it a bit more if you hadn't cut out the few pinatas that you got. That would've maybe been a bit exciting to see.

I feel pvz shouldve done multiplayer similarly to how bloons td did it, with live games where you beat your opponent in real time, the victories in pvz2 arena just feel hollow, and the gameplay is like they tried to shoehorn in the single player style of gameplay into multiplayer, which really doesnt work imo
They had a good multiplayer system with the pvz1 xbox 2 player thing, but we ended up with this
That Shockwave Garg is called the Hair Metal Gargantuar, he is more bulky than other gargs, his attacks send a Shockwave that kills the first plant it hits. If he kills a plant with his slam than the Shockwave will still be sent. He also attacks randomly. And the random attacks send Shockwaves. He is the most bullshit thing in this game, he appears in Neon Mixtape Tour.
Here is my strat, use the bombard mint when they send a Garg or at the start, then plant food the seed packet to instantly recharge it ready again
He actually did really good for his first time. 7 wins in a row
Buffs and bruises are suggestions. laser beans will always be better than peashooters against that many zombies
Wolfy the mints you get from the arena, you can use to buy each mint and upgrade them so they can last longer and keep the plants that belong to the class of what the mint is powered up longer as well.The arena is great for grinding both for mints and seed packets to lvl up your plants and mints
9:09 can I just highlight that this guy has a lvl 5 moon flower and grim rose, a lvl 3 Bombardmint, but has a lvl 1 dusk lobber.
Mints are a game changer! Each type has its own effect plus it boosts its own family as well. Collect mints from the arena to buy as many of them as possible, because they're event plant type only!
Fun fact: every opponent is an ai thats why its so easy to find opponents. every win the ai gets more points until you lose.
edit: still pretty fun to watch you strategize and find different strats to win

mint plants boosts family plants as everyond told ya, but mints also has some perks on their own! for example, reinforce mint knocks back zombies and another ability which is completely busted with pea-nut that i won't tell and the bombard-mint will explode 3 random available tiles. there are more mints for each but it would be a long comment and it would spoil the fun, i would reccomend the reinforce mint + peanut combo only for arena or penny's pursuit tho.

i feel like primal potato mine is one of if not the best non premium plant you can get, charges 3 times faster than regular potato mine and explodes in a 3x3 radius like cherrybomb

Wolfyplayz you should play 2-3 arena matches to try it out more because there is a lot different zombies and strategy’s and they allow premium plants just sometimes they don’t allow certain plants

bombardmint is really good! it sends out 3 cherry bomb explosions on the zombies as well as buffing explosive plants!

Bombard mint is actually op. when you plant it not only does it boost explosives, but it spawns explosions all over the board. basically 0 sun to spam cherry bombs everywhere
hot tip cam: on bluestacks you can set keybinds so for example you can make the numbers on your keyboard each slot, i find handy personally
if you press ctrl + shift + a that should open up a menu where you can set it up, its super easy to do!
