To FAIL is just a First Attempt In Learning. If we are successful at everything first time around we don't really learn everything about it. You are doing great! Much love. X
Love this agronim, I tell my kids this.
So happy to hear your acceptance of failure. My first year of university I failed physics and got a D in Calculus in one term 😮. I never got a bad grade I didn’t deserve and that was my first experience of failure. I regrouped and completed a BA In Mathematics, and went on to get both an MD and a JD. Yes, let this be your right of passage - you have what it takes for sure. ❤
I'm so sorry that you were having technical difficulties during your midterm exam, I remember that very thing happening with me years ago. I called tech support immediately and in so doing, the University was able to see that I was doing everything by protocol in order to get my exam submitted.
They gave me partial credit and I still came out with a 3.80 GPA
Keep plugging along sweetie...you've got this.
Thanks for sharing your life with us, the ups and the downs. Failing an exam is a big deal when it happens, but down the road it doesn't matter as much. So just keep doing the best that you can.
My first exams my freshman year (1966) made me start smoking. I didn’t stop for 10 years.
I can tell you from experience, failing a test or several tests does not make you a failure. All of us tend to see ourselves in relationship to our successes. But, it is in those times we fail, we regroup, rethink strategies, and (above all) see our strengths. My daughter this year completed her Master's in Nursing after 8 years of being very ill. I told her just keep going. See what you have accomplished after your illness. Take it a day at a time, see your successes and your blessings.
As I tell my daughters (I have two sweeties) in dark times, "'Don't look back toward Egypt.....have faith and continue on your life's journey." Jessica, You will survive, no one thinks any less of you. You are loved by so many and make so many other's lives brighter. God's blessings to you.
Also went to Guelph - I once failed 4/5 midterms in a my fall semester of 2nd year. There was a lot going on in my personal life competing for my attention. I didn't fail any of the classes in the end. Fail an exam, a class, whatever. It's zero shame - no matter if you tried hard or not. School is one facet of your life, not everything. What matters is that you stay true to yourself and know that at the end of the day you're a good person, friend, etc.
"Failure" merely teaches what technique(s) do *not* work.
Your friggen amazing how you explain your true experiences it’s absolutely sooo helpful for other who are getting ready to start thier university/college. Test anxiety is real for many and showing how you feel about it let’s others know it’s okay and it’s real. Your channel is amazing thank you for sharing your life and time with us you are a blessing to others 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm sorry that happened. You're right though, it is a right of passage. Always remember that you can't learn to walk until you learn to fall. You are extremely smart. I have no doubt...You got this!
there is no such thing as failure just a chance to improve your skills and I have faith in you 💪👍
Is it weird that i am addicted to the Brock women’s UA-cams. Lol!!!!
Love your resiliency and your wisdom in realizing failing is something that happens to everyone. I think it is helpful in life so we learn to adjust our priorities and try harder next time! Thanks for sharing, even failures. ❤
Hang in there Jess that's why they call it learning talk to your Mom or Dad maybe they can help you understand it better better luck next time take care. sending hugs ❤❤❤
You are always a winner some people don't get that far so never feel low always look on the bright side
Hang in there Jess. Once you find the study method that works for you it will click. Like the specs too.
Your putting in a heck lot of effort in your studie, I respect that, and I'm sure that your gonna be rewarded when it's all set and done. Wish more would do the same, focus on the important things at the right time, then a lot of things would be better and more safe for everyone.
Nothing better than pepperoni & green olives! Thanks for sharing your life!
It’s ok to fail - it obviously has made you more resilient and determined!!!! Honestly at times like these you don’t need tea you just need a hug from Mum or Dad xxxx
How disappointing to have something you have no control over keeping you from a passing grade. I always like to remember that failure isn’t failure unless you quit! I’m proud of you for your positive attitude and not letting it keep you paralyzed in fear to try again. Also, you are one amazing woman to go through all the medical setbacks you had and continue to go to school. You have a strong work ethic so I know you will conquer the next test! Stay strong 💪.
Jessica, my brother who was a teacher, gave me the best advice ever for exams, you know the answers of the questions if you have been attending class, and your brain will remember it all, so the very first answer you get in your head, is always the correct one, when you over think it you may get it wrong, try not to stress, remember, the first answer is the right one, good luck for the future, another thought, we do not always succeed the first time, but it gives us experience xxx
The ups and downs of uni. Great time but don’t miss it. Really hard work
I love your handwriting!
You are the best jess 💓.. sending love and support from Algeria 🇩🇿 ❤
Now you know to call tech support. You studied and knew the material...that's the win!
I got a D in physics in my first semester of college, then failed chemistry my second semester. I retook chemistry in the summer and missed making a B- by 1 point. Argh. I quit school in my sophomore year as I decided I just didn't know what I wanted to do in life. I took the year off, regrouped and went back to school in a different major (art) and got mostly A's and B's. I worked for 6 years then went back to Grad school after swearing I'd never do this again. I made nothing less than an A- at the University of Notre Dame and got my Masters of Fine Art. I learned sometimes you just need to regroup and go a different direction. Don't consider it as failing, you had some technology issues, consider it as learning new things.
I went through so many of those cups I eventually started ordering them in bulk packs on Amazon. Love a good tumbler!
I hate... HATE proctored exams!!! I failed my first exam in FOREVER on Wednesday (yeah, I'm 45 and finally in my last year of college) BUT, as my son (21) reminded me " at least you got some points, which is better than a zero." Fun fact, it was in my Bussiness Statistics class too... Watching your mom's videos has been a huge help in motivating me over the years (which is how I learned about your channel... just so you don't think I'm some creep. lol ) You got this kiddo! Much love from Kansas.
So sorry you struggled with your exams. However I am so proud of you. You are going into a field that not a great deal of women are drawn into. Pepperoni and green olive pizza?? You are a girl after my own heart.
I get to see a day in the life of Jessica very interesting and informative because now I get what my Daughter tells me about her exam days 🤣
Some times technology is not the best option. Keep your nose the grind stone. you can do this.
YEAH! Green olives on a pizza! Green olives and Sauerkraut are also good on a pizza. Love your resilience, it shows great maturity.
I remember failing my second year chemistry exam I was gutted, I submitted a paper and went on to get a decent degree like you say it’s a right of passage chin up darling you’re doing great ❤️
I am so sorry you didn't pass your exam, but I am very proud of you not letting it defeat ya. Keep up the good work Jess you're going to do great.
I was never good at school but as a much older adult I can only say Failing happening but its what you do after that matter. Do better! Study harder and longer and just do better. You can always improve if you try but giving up should never be an option here with schooling. I wanted to give up many times but never did and completed what I needed to! I wish you better luck on the next exam! You got this!!!
If you are as strong and talented as your mother than you will pull through things like this. For Sandi I am sure she feels that way sometimes with the sheep, working so hard and getting nothing out of it. Stay strong and know that the Lord is with you every step of the way!
If you have the option for tutoring labs/groups, do it. It was how I survived Math/College Algebra. Getting help doesn't mean you are a failure. You worked so hard. Proud of you 👌❤️
Jess, I noticed you appear to study by yourself. I had issues studying that way . I had trouble retaining what I had read. What got me through University was study groups. Just hearing the subject matter and discussing it among my peers boosted my retention. Not sure if you are doing that now, but you might give it a try if not. Best of luck.
Don't remember ever failing a test in college. But I did get a D my first year after being out of school for 6 yrs (military). But pizza in Chicago was simply without parallel. Go to genos east and look at their deep dish. But we also had a burger place just across the street where we could get a burger, fries and shake for under $5. Sometimes, if you were willing to go the pizza (6 city blocks away) someone else would pay for the pizza. 2 slices and you were stuffed! I'd love to go back to college. Great time and learned a lot that I still continue to study. Hang in there. You'll be looking back at it all before you know it.
You know what you've got to do but remember to keep a balance in your live. Live is to be epreciated and enjoyed, don't beet yourself up. Keep going, you can.
Ms Jessie, you are soooooo good at soooooo many things, don't sweat this class . My daughter put herself through nursing school straight A's all the way until 1 class. Failed 1st time, retook it and passed. You can do it. Don't get discouraged. We have your back.😘
It reminds of me when I went to college. I wish I would have known back then what I know now. Because I had such a poor diet in college Im now dealing with bad arthritis. The right food is medicine.
Thank goodness you can accept anything difficult. You're like your mom, courageous and committed to your happiness. So extremely proud of you Jess❤
Sending prayers your way to you and your family - with your positive attitude- i know you will kick this cancer in the butt!!
Jess, "winners never quit and quitters never win " Good luck with your future.
So good that you recognize a “rite of passage” for what it is. Try to enjoy your journey, you are going to fail, everyone does. I f you never fail you are missing out on the most important lessons. Keep your head up and keep moving forward. You are a woman to be proud of! Thank you for sharing your journey. 😉🤗
Don't feel too bad Jess, during my 5 years of college I kept failing one class over and over. Finally I was fed up and I left school, I still love learning and I hope to go back in the near future (tbh I've only got a few classes left) but for now I'm focusing on saving some money and working on myself. Good luck to you 😊
Yeah. Technology can undermine testing at times.
I've seen it happen & Instructors are generally not sympathetic with it because they have no way of knowing if it's a tech issue or an excuse. So it stinks when it's a tech issue.
Don't give up. I'm so sorry that it happened.
Hang in there honey.
Failure is just growth.
Keep your head up. You got this.
Two observations, Jess.
We learn more from failure than from success.
Farm girls make the make the best partners.
Hang in there girl!
Handling this with grace. Life lessons are a daily package, even when tied to school.
Stats was the DEATH of me in the beginning. I reached out to my prof, and he gave me some really awesome tips for success, and then I got myself a tutor. Oddly enough, I fell in love with stats after all was said and done. But I won’t take it again.
Also, your choice of pizza toppings is the best! 😍😍😍
We learn the most from our failures most of the time. Don’t feel bad. You will do better. ♥️
The other night I was watching UA-cam and I ran into your mother's UA-cam station and it was very interesting and then I looked into her more and then I found yours so I subscribe to yours too Carrie from California
I failed an exam when I was at UNI (Australia) I knew when I finished it I had already failed. I ended up taking a new subject the next semester and enjoyed it more than that subject.
It's not the end of the world and you are doing soo much at the moment. I'm not sure what it's like in Canada but in Australia you can re-take a class or do a differnet one to get enough points to graduate.
Thinking of you
I have test anxiety. No matter how much I knew - I remembered nothing correctly during exams
Just keep swimming. You got this.
To bad that the wifi went out on you for your test. Glad you had a wonderful time out with your friends that night.
Your glasses are classy. You should get bonus points for that ! Hang in there. And study groups were always extremely helpful for me when preparing for exams. Just an idea… ❤ Sending positive thoughts your way. 😊
Oh yes, the ups and downs of university. I had to do a stats class as part of the technical IT degree I was working on back in the mid-80's, and it was absolutely no fun. 😕 Or the couple of accounting classes as well... Ugh! And having to hand write all that stuff on ledger pages!
You're smart and resilient, Jess, so I'm sure you'll rebound from the challenges that will come your way as you work towards your degree, just like you talked about in your editing post-script. Thanks for taking us along on your journey! It brings back lots of memories. I love the shared house you're in for this school year. Take care! 💞
Like you said, we've all probably have fail some type of exam. As long as you tried you best. I appears that you didn't shirk your studies and go out partying instead. You'll do better next time. Hugs from Oklahoma
I always struggled too when I needed to cram so much right before exams... learned that lesson the hard way.
Ew. Stats! I so feel your pain. I failed midterm stats as well back in the day as an undergrad. I barely got a C in the end and could live with that because, well, it's stats and it sucks. You'll come out of it just great. You're a fighter, you will do it. Glad you're also finding time for fun. Just remember to drink lots of water when you go out and in the morning. It helps with the hangover.
Don’t worry I’m sure you did better than average. Wait for the curve in any case you could always take the class again this summer(community college). Weed’em out classes always suck.
The only thing is when you graduate it will seem like it went by quickly. Remember that your family is there for support..
I’m sure you tried your hardest, I have no clue about university exams, but I’m guessing they don’t make them easy. You get it next time I’m sure of it you don’t seem like the type of person who excepts failure well. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚🙃
So did I at your age - in fact I never learned to work properly academically until I was twenty three or four. Along the way I got lousy A level results and failed after my first year at Agricultural College. Then I got a charismatic lecturer on a specialised course and it wasn't that he put the fear of failure into me, but rather that he lead rather than pushed although I was fortunate that i was one of only fifteen on that course. Failure is something you have to learn to live with but not like because it will happen to all us sometimes, just as we all have good and bad patches in life.
I hope you pass your repeat exam. From Ireland
I’m sorry about your exams sweetie! But just know there are always better days ahead.
Wait.. why... Aweeee... It hurts seeing you like that.. and this is literally the first moment I'm ever seeing or hearing of you...
When I was a senior in high school, and talking about post-secondary education, my father said to me, "What do you need to go to college for? You can get a job slinging hash." In other words, he considered me no better than waitress material. Sadly, I had been so badly damaged by then that I stopped thinking about college or university, and just got a job after I graduated. I'm 70 now, so obviously I've survived. Surviving, however, is not really living. Stay the course, Jessica. You'll never regret it. 🤗🥰👍
It always sucks to not get the grade you feel you’ve studied for and deserve. Technology is wonderful until you fall into a glitch like this and you have no control over anything. You’re smart and determined and you’ll get through this.
Life is like a failed exam... you just roll with it.
I’m a almost 63 year old Grandma if ten. My senior year in college, I had kidney problems and had to take I completed. Went back the next year. Was ten credits short of graduating and I never finished. Wish I had now but in the big picture of life, whatever will be, will be! Best of luck with your future. Love your family❤️
Great video Jessica
Jess, you’re exactly right! No one gets through school without a failure of some sort, at some time! I’m so glad with how you dealt with it and accepted it! You’re doing great!! You’re on your way! Much love from Oklahoma! 💗💗💗
So sorry, dear!
I failed Calculus twice. I took a College Algebra class to hone those skills and was shocked by how much harder than high school algebra it was. Took Calculus again (it was not even required for either of my majors so whyyyyyyy) and the Prof gave me a D because he could see I’d tried so damned hard. He also asked me to stop torturing myself over it.
I later audited a community college Calc class. Either it all somehow processed in the 10yrs or the instructor just made sense but had I taken it for credit I would have had an A.
Without failure, you can never enjoy the taste of success !
I just found your channel through your mom's didn't even know you had a channel sorry about your exam never mind 😸
Sorry to hear that your exams didn’t go all that well for you Jess, all you can do is accept that you tried and knowing you studied hard and that’s all you can really accept and just try harder next time, and that always helped me during school though the good and bad, and me personally I never liked test or anything long that line. Just keep studying and keep doing good at your work. Have a good week.👍👍
Girl college is rough & I am sophomore you got this girl!! I have faith in you! ❤❤❤❤❤
You are working so hard! Proud of you and those tests are just bumps. I’m going to pass on a nugget I was given in college. Stop studying 1 hour before the test. It will help get everything straight in your mind. It really worked for me. Good luck honey, you’ve got this!!!
There is a saying” if at first you don’t succeed…” I’m sure you’ll get there eventually, life throws us curve balls, it tests us, and you’re not failing if you never give up. Keep going, have fun, rest, and continue to push forward. 🙏🏻
Pepperoni and green olive! The best!!
You are so much like your mom! Stop beating up yourself your going to be fine. You're a very smart girl. Just hang in there 😊😊🤗🙏
I lost 10% of my body weight in my first year of college. Freshman year was horrible.
Jess, don't stress...I found that if I over studied, crammed, or tried to overload my brain with information, my information got muddled up & I couldn't think straight to answer my exam questions.😘
Sometimes you have to redo some classes. Had to do it several times since I had learning disabilities. When I retook my classes I got a's and B's. Dont be too hard on yourself. Have a great break.
Teacher here. Failing an exam has happened to most of us at some point in our college experience. Sometimes it is the subject matter that is difficult, and sometimes it is learning what each professor thinks is important to know that is hard to figure out. Determine where you can improve and then put it behind you and start fresh. Your attitude is commendable!
One hint a professor gave me years ago, back when the dinosaurs roamed, was to drink a glass of orange juice daily, and on days you are taking a test, have a second glass an hour or two before each exam. He said it raised the IQ and improved memory. Decades later, science is proving that this is true! All I know is that it seemed to help me and you might find it worth a try. Hang in there!
Don’t worry about failing some of those test. Most of us have SO been there! Just don’t give up on your dreams. By the way, what is your major?
I was trash at college level math! I hadn’t done advanced math for a couple years and it was HARD. That said, I think I learned more from the college classes that didn’t go well than the ones that did--not that acquiring life skills is FUN really.
college dose have there ups an downs . you will do better. i have a daughter 2 that is attending college. she also have her up an downs. still proud of her. Hope everone is ok. I have not seen you or mom on you tube.
its bad u failed the test. but as I say when u fail u fail and it is two things to do, one is to give up and the other is to keep on trying, and for those who gives up is tired and wont make it, and those who keep on trying will win in the end
I havent been in college for a long time. And the college i attended was in the art field. I attended university of pittsburgh online for graphic art i think. On the one you have a bad mark. What happens with the class you failed. Do you take it over? I think thats what i had to do. I never finished it. I was pregnant at the time i went to college. The first quarter i got a 4.0 which i was so happy bout. Then the second quarter my health turned bad. My blood pressure was up. And my pregnancy went to high risk. I was told i couldnt sit in a chair for very long. Cause of severe swelling. I tried to go back to college to take the class over. Couldnt figure it out. So it never happened.
Don’t let it upset you just keep your chin up you can only do your best xxxx
And this wont stop you. ❤
I agree with the person that when you have technical problems during a test to immediately call tech support to get it documented that there is a technical problem.
Try looking online and on UA-cam for what your classes are covering. There are many ways to present material and you may find other ways help with understanding the material.
As soon as you sign up for a class, start reading up on the topic to help come into class and office hours with questions.
Hang in there!! You are a smart woman...we all have bad days! You will do great next time! From Montgomery al 🙏 ❤️
