    You've managed to recreate the nostalgia i got every time I heard Tony sing and play these songs all over again. Thank you so much for taking the chance and giving these tunes a new life.

    Only problem with this EP is I want more.
    Well done on all cuts.
    Hoping maybe someday we'll have a deluxe edition of Dan's Tribute to Tony.

    On-screen lyrics read “I found myself a paper friend” but just like Tony, Dan sings “picker friend.” “Paper” would make sense in context but it’s always sung “picker.” Anyone have any insight?

    • @als1023
      @als1023 Рік тому

      That is a great question and I will speculater that Tony threw in ' picker' during recording and that's the version that went to vinyl.
      Hoping someone els has more insight. These issues aren't addressed in TR's book nor anywhere else that I've seen.
      There are minor lyric changes Tony made to Gordon Lightfoot and Ian Tyson tunes as well.

      I can tell you AND the history. The line is, "I found myself a paper, friend, folded up page 21 and stuck it in my shoe." History: In the '70's in the newspaper the the obituaries were in the "B" section around pages 20-23. The old southern joke is, "Had to check the obituaries to see if I was dead." "B" for Blake comes early so page 21. Checked, not dead, so I folded up page 21 and stuck it in my wore out struggling musician shoe.

    I've loved all of the tracks on this album but I have to take exception with this one. It sounds rushed and slightly off. I'm a big fan of Molly Tuttle but she does have a tendency to rush songs and make them feel uncomfortable to listen too. She sounds way better when she doesn't do that. It's not a race, it's a song.

    • @dancraggs
      @dancraggs Рік тому

      I always found that the original version feels quite "rushed" and I think this one, including the very Tony-esque solo, keeps that same feel.

    • @als1023

      I agree this one could have been slowed down a bit. The actual beat measure sounds quite close to NB's original version, it could be we want to savour the tune a bit more as the years go by.
      I know exactly what you mean about Molly being a bit rushed on some tunes, although with her own band things have some nice pace and measure to them.
