What a delight to see you seasoned sailors slide alongside so well and so differently from your early episodes - gives us all hope of making the same transformation one day. Great job with your sailing channel and your sailing journey ladies, I am really enjoying it. Thanks for sharing and keep going, please.
Thank you! I have not looked back at any of our early mooring videos, but I might do now that you have put it in my head 😄. There are lots more videos to come and I hope that you enjoy them. Thanks for commenting 👍
So happy dolphins! Beautiful although raw - that is Scotland for you. As always - great to watch you sail 😊
Thank you. Dolphins are always good and the small ones were having such fun. That area of Scotland is great to sail and we hope to do more of it
Thoroughly enjoyed the sail this week albeit a bit chilly. Nice to see the Lass hooting along. I note the discussion you have as you go, I was reflecting that’s exactly what we do when two on board, same discussion etc. when solo no mumbles back and I usually reply to me instead😮😂
Oh she was definitely shifting long nicely and next week completes the passage starting exactly where this episode stopped. We always chatter away under passage, but if we were solo and talking to oneself,..... well, it is never a problem until you answer yourself back and get surprised by the reply 😄
When you are tacking try dropping the traveller down before you tack, then tack and the main should be in the right place (or just need a small adjustment) for the new tack, this means you don't have to give yourself a hernia pulling the main against the wind to pull the traveller back to windward especially if the wind gets up. Enjoyed watching again
We will give it a go. Thank you and glad you enjoyed it.
I was feeling as if I was on the yacht trying to decide will they won't they stop at 6 or 8 then the video stopped! I was left in suspense. Captivating - 15 minutes has never passed so quickly.
Next week takes up exactly were this week left off. I 'm glad you enjoyed it.
Anchor project for autumn/winter sailing exercise some fine day
We have a few winter things coming up - if the weather lets us 😄
Your dolphins were well happy & playful 🎉
They were lovely dolphies. The little ones were a delight
Love the dolphin’s, looks like great sailing enjoy
Thanks Roy. The dolphies were great and the little ones were so cute! The sail continues next week!
Hi Lasses, I really enjoyed that. Is it possible for u to get some touch screen gloves, I saw Gaynor having to constantly take off, put on her gloves every time she needed to use the tablet. I've got a couple of pairs for different weather, they are a game changer, maybe take a wee look hey. Good sailing my sweeties. 🇬🇧🇦🇺😁🌈
The gloves usually work and work best when wet. These were bone dry probably caused by the wind and it was easier just to take them off. We often have rain or spray and it is never a problem. We are hard on gloves. I think it is because we use them every day for months at a time instead of once a week like a lot of yotties so we will need new pairs of gloves for next season anyway. What brand are these ones you have?
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass Magic Marine, Musto, Forward sailing, but I also like the kayaking gloves. It really depends on budget too, some of them are outrageously priced. Have a nice day Ladies and Bev.
Puilladobhrain is popular, but not full with 12 boats in. I have 45m all rope rode on my kedge and use it to limit swing. I tie the end to the bow and row out in the dingy anywhere between 45°and 90° in the direction I want to hold the boat and drop the anchor. Then go aboard and pull some rope in to set the anchor and position the boat where I feel comfortable with the swing. This only works well without (significant) tidal flow. Sometimes I have done the same off the stern (180°) if I have anchored a bit close to a beach and don't want to swing round and touch with a wind shift.
When we went in last time, the boats seemed to be anchored in such a way as use up as much space as possible, so we bypassed it then. We have been in there with more boats but we just decided to push on instead.
When sailing episode 32 covers fore & aft anchorage.
Yachting world also has storm anchoring episode with Skip Novak.
Definitely a good skill to have in reserve
Yes - it is something we hope to practice. There is a good anchorage just east of here.
Like a well oiled machine. 👍 I was surprised that the water was so calm when you had wind over. Particularly with the boils. I would not want to anchor stern and bow unless no choice. Someone else will swing or the wind will change and be side on it's to be avoided. Were the other boats in the anchorage doing this?
The Sounds are long but narrow so when the wind is across them the sea state is never too bad - there is no room for fetch to build up. Further south where the Atlantic gets to peep in, the sea state does get worse. The last time we were in Puilladobhrain no one was anchoring fore and aft but all we could see as we went past was masts so I have no idea what way they were anchored. If you want to look at it, this link on Google Maps should do the trick

@@SailingYachtSaltyLass Ah I know where it is now opposite Loch Spelve. We anchored in the loch under sail and there was a danger mark with missing light on the way in to make it interesting. It's a beautiful area. I hope to get up there soon. More practice needed first 🙂
It is indeed a great area and we do enjoy it. We have probably explored about 10% of it and Loch Spelve is still on our "not done" list.
Sitting on my boat. Just watched the voyage to Sween. The next best thing to sailing is watching other people sail! ⛵️
Sweden? Glad you enjoyed it anyway 😄
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass Sween. Corrected now!
😆😆 I was wondering!! Let's blame it on autocorrect 😉
"wind is a funny business on a sailboat" no way! really? 🤣🤣🤣
😄 Definitely. How is the new boat working out?
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass perfect. Thank you. I'm learning how to sail her, step by step.
Every boat has its quirks and little ways. Enjoy 👍
Women muscles are not as bulky as mens so look better . Go girl power
I need a leg operated traveller - plenty of leg muscles 😄
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass lie on cockpit floor brace legs either side of companion way & pull , get abs working too 🤣🤣🤪
Somehow I cannot see that working, but it might have great comedy value if we film it 😄
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass bwahahaha 🤣🤪🤣
