What do you think is the reason/incident Max gave to the team to justify ignoring team orders, regardless of deliberate or not which is irrelevant was it Monaco? Something else? Let me know?
you have no data only few clips and though you are not concluding anything but there is enough attempt by you to set the narrative. by watching your video it feels like you are justifying what max did. typical F1 and typical fanboi stuff...
for the sec of argument lets just assume perez cheated and actually did that ....even then a real man would go , confront and talk it down then n there. to hold a grudge for so long ( for a self assumed fault ) and to get all the help from the guy and then bring it out when he needs help is even more stupid , unmanly cowardly act.
@@cult_personality He didn't frame it like Max was justified. He says in the end that even if Checo did crash deliberately, that there's no reason or benefit for Max to bring the incident out into the public like this. Also, there's telemetry available that shows that acceleration spike very clearly. Of course it could be a mistake and even with all the telemetry available, it doesn't prove anything because drivers make mistakes all the time, so nothing will come of this unless Checo comes forward and admits it.

@@Aldas001 I think it has something to do with Max's unyielding on track personality which we are used to seeing in him never backing off in wheel to wheel battles. When asked about letting a position go and live to fight another day he said "only a weakling would do that".
I think a similar mentality is present here. Max feels like he would have passed Checo anyway had Checo not been asked to give the place and therefore Max feels he is not required to give the position back. Unfortunately, I don't think he really cares whether Leclerc or Perez finishes P2, and cares more about giving his best performance in any race even if the championship is already decided.
Aldas, I think this is deeper than monaco, Checo and Max unfollowed each other after the Mexican GP, and it's possible that Max also learned about Monaco only recently, might have been 6 months ago, but if that was the case for Max it would feel as a fresh wound.
Apparently after RB owner's death, both Max's and Checo's parents got into heated arguments about having more ownership within the team.
Max should get an Oscar now, holding a grudge all this time and acting like nothing happened.

One expects Checo is too professional to hang his dirty laundry out in public, which will happily only make Max deservedly look worse by comparison.
I can't imagine Helmut is one to ever mince his words, or tolerate behaviour such as Max's - talent or no, no driver is 'bigger' than the team they work for. I suspect he's been warned that acting like a SOB again will lead to his ejection from the team, and who would want him after?

If Merc get involved and it becomes a 3 way fight for the title. Max may have serious issues, because where 2021 he only really had to deal with Lewis and 2022 for half the season he had to deal with Leclerc, but potentially 2023 he could be dealing with Leclerc, Lewis, George and Sainz if he carries on this form. Then even as talented as he is, Max will need a teammate to help him every now and again.
100% right. George is the highest caliber teammate Louis has had since Roseburg. Next year I think will be very exciting. Alonso at Austin Martin who has goals of winning a title, Lando is really good in a good car and of course the two Ferrari and Merc drivers are all great.

@@jwyoungy Valteri is definitely fast driver, but he is late to the party. Mercs need George to help with the new car design regulations, George might understand how to work the car better than lewis. George will still be ahead of Lewis next year.
@@chadgtr34 I'm not so sure about that. I think George is faster than Val but Hamilton I think is still the best driver. Hamilton has done better than George on the last half of the year. The bouncing issue really effected Louis where George seemed to be able to work with it more.

@@thetruebatman4632 to be fair with the onboard footage, even if checo didn't tell, the throttle spike is quite jarring. and with him either forced to admit or did admit by himself. its a bit of an oof moment because even martin pointed out about it. i will not say Max is justified doing his shenanigans, but that does mean even checo himself isn't an innocent angel or once in a while has its own agenda
The biggest issue I have with this is him telling the team not to ask him to do that again. That more than refusing to give up the spot shows that he already feels he is bigger than the team. Checo was ordered to give Max the spot and that is all good but asking Max to give the spot back should never be done? Regardless of if Monaco was an accident or not Checo did far more to help Max in getting both of his titles than he did to hinder that.
I was rooting pretty equally for Max, Checo, Leclerc and Sainz this year but hopefully Leclerc and Sainz will be much more consistent next year for one of them or Checo to get a title. Unfortunately F1 itself has been even or worse than last year as a whole when it comes to controversies and horrible calls and I don't understand why WRC doesn't seem to have nearly as many problems even with the FIA running them as well.
Well max might be right to think that. Not literally of course because of the Seb Vettel era, but when max came in the team was nowhere, rebuilding and relient on Riccardo. Max immediately starts beating Riccardo who quits seeing the writing on the wall. Max the with a car completely designed around him dominates Gasly and Albon. Max then essentially wins the title in the first consistently good car red bull has built in about a decade albeit with a lot of help from the FIA. So from his perspective the teams progression is in line with his own, he might think that red bull would be mediocre again if he were to leave and from a simple point of view every year he has been at the team they have improved in some way. This is the danger of appeasement those with the power will think they are more powerful than the circumstances that gave them power. Of course its beneficial for red bull to let their dominant generational drivers rule everything Vettel won 4 titles for them max already has 2.
The thing with F1, FIA and controversies is the fact that a bunch of corporate suits decide what happens in a sport that they mostly have little to no idea how it works or what the fans want. They always try to implement new things and expect for the viewers/drivers to be OK with them not working properly. As someone would expect from a multimillion dollar industry. I think FIA is a joke nowadays and will only get worse.
Looking back at how they handle most big events and rule breaks you can clearly see that the FIA has no idea what they are doing and are clearly hurting the sport if anything else.
@@kiritsakis1Yes, I agree completely with the FIA essentially creating its own controversies in both abu Dhabi and jeddah last season in a championship that was already better than most in the past 2 decades. This year them seemingly not knowing or following their own rules or precidents. My question is how do we as fans make that change without watching the admittedly still pretty good racing. @@phightinphil25 You make it very complicated,but in fact it is quit simple. They discussed this long before the race and all agreed. Max told them what they could expect, and even told them why. Than it is very inappropriate to put him on the spot by asking him over the radio to let Checo pass. So Max has my respect for standing by his word and not give in when things become uncomfortable.

Someone on Sky said that if he actually admitted that he had crashed on purpose and confessed about it to Helmut Marko he would have been fired on the spot. Also crashing out to secure P3 is so ridiculous, if he had been on pole and did that it makes sense its still cheating but at least it makes sense as to why he would have done it. This theory that Perez crashed on purpose because he wanted to be ahead of Verstappen is so BS concocted just to justify what Verstappen did in Brazil was payback and so its justified.

I just can't get behind the idea that Checo crashed on purpose. And even if Max had substantial reason to believe so, after coming off one of the most dominant title runs in recent memory it's surprising that he'd directly go against his team just to throw a jab at his teammate.
Perez is the last driver I’d expect to crash on purpose. He is too nice for that

Well clearly something ticked Max off he had nothing to gain but hatred for him when he did that, and he was willing to accept that to prove a point. @@samwlloyd Max and his father Jos have very strict ideas about right and wrong, and they will defend their view on what is "right" in their mind to the death, no matter what. Same for punishing the "wrong". Dutch speaking people knew that from seeing them for 20 years on Dutch TV and press already. This was not a surprise.

I dont remember but I am not sure if Lewis was always so overjoyed for his teammates winning. for example his rivalry with Alonso when he was the wonderkid of wonderkids or versus Rosberg. Lewis is the best driver of all time all he has left to do is accumulate stats and be a genuinely great person on his way out. This is not to defend Max's pettiness of course its just a reminder who often great drivers footballers etc. are incredibly petty especially when they havent achieved what is expected of them and what they expect of themselves. Its interesting how Vettel has become mostly less self centered ad far more calm and nuanced as he has gotten older and chasing Lewis or history has become impossible. I hope that when Max is ready to leave the sport he can be similar to Lewis or Seb more for his own sake than anything just look at he way Ronaldo is acting and behaving on his way out as the lesson to avoid.

Bottas was completely subservient to Lewis and that was needed because Merc wanted to avoid drama. The best often demand submission or compliance. Max wants checo to block for him and get out of the way and if he does than everything is fine if not he probably feels he needs to remind his teamate who is the #1. It sucks for checo like it did for Mark Webber but he isn't even as good as Webber was so the best thing for everybody is to work out what scenarios if any are ok for Checo to win or be the lead car. As gauche as the crash was, it seems far fetched to think securing a p3 was that important to Checo. It's not like he knew Ferrari were going to bottle it. They still looked very much like contenders at this point. If anything, Monaco was the turning point. All that being said, I could see this being the incident that leads to a rule change just to put an end to this kind of speculation. Crash the car, get your time deleted.
It's about beating you're teammate so you can still get support in your championship bid. If the point gap is big enough all the support goes to Max that's what Checo was trying to avoid. After that weekend everyone was talking about how Checo was in the Championship fight and Redbull are being force to see Checo as a contender. So this Idea that he has nothing to gain is Laughable. If Max finishes ahead of him in Monaco his championship is over.
@@blockchainalpha Yeah I still find that it was pretty dumb of Perez to choose that moment to do something so shifty. There's no way he could know that it would work out as well as it did. I guess he must have been on a bad lap at that time and though he had more to gain by crashing than setting a slower time than before. The fact that he already had his new contract in his back pocket at that point probably emboldened him to pull the kind of move that would have compromised his standing with the team otherwise. I am coming around to believing the evidence against him. Red Bull had the telemetry data so he probably couldn't hide the truth from them even if he wanted to. Honestly, I think crashing intentionally for any reason should get you kicked out of F1 permanently. It's such an irresponsable, short-sighted and unsportsmanlike thing to do. It makes Max's beef with him legit and ultimately makes Checo the bigger POS of the two. It was short-sighted of Max to call attention to all this Red Bull dirty laundry but it's better for the sport as a whole that this bush league shit gets exposed.
Bring back one-lap qualifying for Q3 and we won't have this problem.
@@fleursbruyantes4177 your second comment is the most sensible thing I've read about this topic. I mean it's Monaco, every position counts as you can't really overtake. Strategy is the only way to really gain position in Monaco and being in front of max with a better shot at a podium or win would give him the better strategy. Seeing how close the championship was at that point he might have felt that it was necessary to stay close to max.

checo is a great #2 driver and that might be a reason to keep a driver who deliberately *crashes* your multi-million dollar car, BUT... what value does a #2 driver bring to a team if he's crashing cars to stop your #1 driver from winning?!?
with max and leclerc so close in points at the time, how could RB possibly keep a driver who was sabotaging max's chances at winning the championship?!? i love checo, but he could have been easily replaced mid-season without any real consequences for the team. if he really crashed on purpose, yeah he would have been fired immediately.
Spinning and crashing with the back end hitting the wall first risked damaging the gear box. That would have given him a penalty. If he really wanted to crash deliberately, he would have crashed nose first.
I don't think he would be fired, RedBull literally went out of their junior program to get him and I don't see who else could come with the experience and consistency he has. I don't even like Checo, but he is a solid driver
is it really? look at the telemetry, he completely floored it before he even hit the apex, and he's too experienced to make such a mistake. it's such a weird spin as well, normally you'd expect a spin at that corner to happen after the apex when the driver goes on the throttle again but doesn't have the rear grip for whatevr reason, what checo did looked more like something a drift guy would do to yeet his car around the corner.
If max is holding some grudge against checo imagine how he feels about Lewis. and then imagine how lewis feels about max

If it's true that Checo did this then I think it speaks volumes about what it's like to be number 2 at Red Bull. He helped Max so much in 2021 and to be forced to concede the lead and the chance to win when he's still in a title fight must have shown him that Red Bull only care about one driver. Webber had a similar experience and Ricciardo left as he didn't want to be a number 2 to Max.
Red Bull need to start taking some responsibility for how they let it get to a point where one driver is ignoring team orders out of spite and the other one is crashing on purpose to stop their teammate improving their qualifying time.
Re: The engine "throttle spike" - sounds an awful lot like the throttle spike comes form checo just getting on the power a hair too soon, and he immediately backed off once the wheels lost traction. Once the wheels spun, the RPMs rose even though the throttle was in the same position. If you've ever tried to hold a car at the limit of grip, that is definitely the sound of "You ran out of traction, idiot" which is then followed by the car getting a massive rear-ward weight shift, and either a spin or a slide or a crash depending on how fast you react and what's around you.
As for any arguments about intent, I agree with the call that if that's what Checo was doing, they would've noticed it immediately and he'd be without a drive. RB would rather take Gasly than someone who'd risk any accusations of race fixing. At least....I'd *hope* RB would be quick to distance themselves from it. We've seen stranger things already.....but I don't think that's the case here.

Yeah, that throttle blip definitely sounds like the rear tires breaking loose from getting on the power too early, but we cannot know for sure without seeing the full telemetry.

Max is on a dangerous trajectory in life. Hopefully, he will realize sooner than later, that petty unforgiveness will only isolate you and that you will find, all the glory now is forgotten later. Great video. When max is older and reflects on this, he might regret it. It was ridiculously petty and unnecessary. He’s also created a mess for Christian who is trying to clean up the fall out from overspendgate. At some point Max will need help from Checo next year and it might not come.
A champion can be a narcissist, especially when Max is in company of another narcissist champion, Nelson Piquet. He may not regret this at all even 50 years from now.
Might? There’s no way in the world Max or the team can expect anything from Sergio here on in other than Sergio doing what’s best for himself. Just like Red Bull can’t afford to let Max go, they can’t afford to let Sergio go because they’ve got no one else to replace him with. They need a solid driver in the second car and there’s no one else to put in it. This is what a team reaps from a culture such as Red Bull’s; this has been a long time in the making. Max has spoken poorly about both Pierre and Alex in the past, viewing both drivers as inferior. Red Bull’s approach was to simply switch the drivers, reinforcing Max’s behavior and views. This is textbook bad parenting and how you end up with spoiled brats. Red Bull have no one else to blame but themselves for this mess.
It’s insightful contrasting the difference in radio instructions Alpine gave to Ocon during the race in Brazil to let Alonso through, getting to the point that Ocon was required to confirm he got the message. Alpine didn’t ‘ask’ Ocon to let Alonso through, they ‘demanded’ it even though Ocon tried to play dumb. Not only did Red Bull not demand Max follow orders, they followed that up with getting talked back to by Max. It was incredible.

@@stefanleonte3155 That's the thing, if your second driver is not close enough to offset other teams strategy with their drivers( looking more like charles,lewis and george), Redbull might find themself all at sea. just look at the help bottas offered hamilton in 2021, sweet fuck all. lol he even fought hamilton into turn 1 at the mexican gp losing both p1 and p2 on the 1st lap. Max will only know whats he's done next year when checo is holding him up or just letting driver breeze past.
Oh he will need help. The Mercs went from a bouncing joke to the fastest car in a matter of 20 races. The mercs are back. Hamilton is back. And Russel is nothing like the helpful teammate Bottas was.

exactly, its the public radio that makes it tough, i am a big max fan, and im dutch, but this is very very sad from max. I can hear it in his voice on the radio, it sounds like him back in 2016/17 when he had his shorter temper. This could even mean the downfall for a team, bc you've now broken so much trust. They seemed on such good conditions, and max even said checo was his favorite teammate, but after this trust might be broken and you could end up with a real rivalary in the team. i am very confused about this all. It does sound to me like Checo spikes the throttle a smidge more coming out of the apex, but he seems to do it at the same point that everyone else presses the throttle. Is that enough to lose rear wheel traction and spin is something hardly any of us would know because few people know what it's like to drive an F1 car, even fewer have driven this year's car with the new specs and, more importantly to this discussion, the new RB powertrain, which was acting up a lot before the summer break.
there's telemetry data showing he completely floored it before even hitting the apex, makes it clear that it was more than just a small mistake.
When you hit a wet spot on the track and the tyre breaks traction, the throttle sensors spike because tyres loose grip and spins faster

Regarding the 1st point, gearbox changes work differently this year I believe. They can be changed without penalty through the weekend. A gearbox penalty is only incurred if a driver exceeds the 4 gearbox pool over the season.

My view on this incident has changed quite a bit since it happened on Sunday. It's true that we don't really know what caused it, and we'll never really know if Checo's crash in Monaco was deliberate (though I highly doubt it was). If it was deliberate and the team and Max knew that it was, then I understand why Max would be upset (see Hamilton's reaction after Rosberg's mistake in 2014). But if it wasn't deliberate, then either it wasn't even Monaco that Max was referring to, or Max was just a racing driver and didn't want to give up the place. Not a nice look as a team leader though, because Checo might not be so willing to help anymore and this might cause problems especially compounded with the 10% reduction in aero testing for RB for the budget cap breach.

@@everydaydose7779 Yeah, at the end there, Max was 4 seconds ahead on him when they asked him to give the position back. Perez got passed by Sainz, LeClerc and Alonso like he was standing still and Max came up on him like a freight train, then waited for permission to pass.
Behind all the "race driver mentality" that max clearly has, I find it unfair that he would choose that particular time to go back at Perez. EVEN IF it was deliberate, it played no role in Max winning the WDC, all the while this tantrum might cost the person who he has to thank for the 2021 tittle the 2nd place and the team he owes everything to a first driver 1-2... All for a crash that after all changed nothing.
All that being said, it would be interesting to see what Max is really worth with no help from Perez.

Checo's intentional crash in Q3 in Monaco set the grid, with him positioned ahead of Max, which ultimately decided the win, his 3rd for Red Bull in 2 seasons. Max has three wins in the last month. That crash cost Max 2 wins in a row in Monaco and at that point, he was only 6 points ahead of LeClerc, so it could have potentially cost Max more. We're judging Monaco with the benefit of hindsight. We don't even know if Max was only recently made aware of Checo's telemetry from Q3. If I were Max, I'd be pissed off too. The number one job of a #2 driver is not to screw over the #1 driver and Checo screwed Max over in Monaco.
This is by far the best video on youtube that explains what the whole saga is all about. Irrespective of whether Checo crashed on purpose or not, its really petty how Max dealt with the whole thing. Not to forget what a crucial part Checo played last year as a great wingman in multiple races.

My initial reaction was why would you risk a gear box change? Also Checo has to know that even if he is in front of Max they would ask him to let him through or they would switch them via pit strategy like 2016 (I think) when Ferrari took the win from Kimi in the pits.

You forgot key facts, such as: 1) Fernando Alonso also crashed in Monaco very nearly to Checo 2) In Brazil checo gave the position due to Team Orders...Max did not gave it back. This mess that Max created hurt all of his team and him.

That could hit at an falling out they must have had before the race weekend and it could have been then and there Max got to know about the Monaco quali crash.

With regards to the point about risking a penalty due to gearbox damage for Perez, gearbox penalties no longer work that way since the start of the 2022 season. Drivers have a pool of 4 gearboxes that they can change after running begins on a Saturday without incurring a penalty. Any new gearboxes used outside of the pool would then result in a 5 place grid penalty.

The first time you use one extra component is a 10 place grid penalty, not 5. 5 is for repeated occurrences.

Webber not getting 2nd shows how competitive the field was and how it wasn't a dominant car as everyone persumes it to be.
Correct. RB9 had tremendous amount of downforce but was running on a Renault engine. Vettel's driving style, braking and cornering is what RB9 look so unstoppable that people believe it was just car and not the driver.
Well, I agree on that first part but for the second one I disagree. Alonso ended that season as the 2nd driver with almost 160 points of difference behind Vettel. That's a huge of a difference! Webber was 3rd with almost 50 points behind Alonso who drove Ferrari which was 4th fastest car on grid after Mercedes and Lotus. Webber was just an average or even slightly below average in his last RB season and Vettel was clearly a better driver. Much better then Webber was in his prime which tells me that RB09 was indeed a very dominant car.
I see where you’re coming from, but Webber also struggled with the Pirelli tyres and, therefore, underperformed sometimes in the races

There’s no reason fir Max to be holding a grudge against Checo like that. Hes just simply like every other on the grid: he hates being passed.
I don't think whatever happened in Monaco was the defining factor why Max did what did. And I'm not even surprised he did. It was certainly a dick move, which wouldn't win him anything and probably could cost him more. But I do recall that people were already making suggestions in Mexico about whether "Max will let Checo through for a home victory", to which Max said that Checo doesn't need his help for a possible win because he can do it on his own. I think that's what Max's gripe is all about, asking for freebies (even if it's the sensible thing to do). Max pretty much had the job done this season all by himself. Ferrari's shambles helped, and Checo's move on Charles at Suzuka was beneficiary for sure, but it's not like he wouldn't win the championship anyway (he won despite these factors, not because of them). And yes, Checo's contributions at Abu Dhabi 2021 shouldn't be taken for granted, and it was one of the defining moments why Max had a chance to win that race. But that wouldn't have the significance it had if Checo was a better and consistent drive throughout the 2021 season. The same can be (in some regard) applied to this season. Especially in the second half of the season where the RB18 is the best car, he is fighting with the Mercs more than consistently challenging for podiums and wins while his teammate pretty much won everything.
Bottom line: Max deserves the bashing for not giving up a position that would've gained him nothing. At the same time, Checo and Charles (who were puffing to be championship contenders) are asking for handouts for P2. Which I understand from their point of view, but this is Formula 1, not a charity.

My take is that as Max was close to wrapping up the title, the team and him probably had internal talks about letting Checo through if it could get him 2nd in the championship and Max, being the dominant driver he is, no doubt said no, and that if they ever asked him to move aside he wouldn't do it. Hence his radio message of 'we've already talked about this.' Seems the most logical answer to what happened imo.

I do believe that on the first part of the 2022 season Checo was a bit faster than Max , a real treat for him , however after some changes in FIA rules the RB car suddenly fit Max style better than Checo and the gap appear in perfirmance . It was a very noticeable situation .

Ahh but Perez made the calls for himself in the race which meant he and Sainz jumped Leclerc, the reason he made the calls that he did were because he had nothing to lose being the 2nd driver and having only an outside shot at the title. To add more context to the "intent" crash. Let's get the full picture of the sectors:
Perez was not that low in that final lap, and his best sector was Sector 3, almost purple it every time.
Verstappen slowest sector was sector 3, so having purple sector 1 was not a guarantee that he would have been in front of Checo.
Checo was ahead all weekend.
His accident was unfortunate and makes no sense even though data seems fishy, we don't have the full picture on this to assume he did it on purpose.
For me, he tried a different line and lost it. He had to speed up to reach Leclerc....
More context:
1. in what world does it make sense to lock your two main enemies in the front row at Monaco?
2. Alonso crashed even more inexplicably (just go back and watch it! it looks almost like he just *slided* forwards at very low speed) about the same exact time, one or two curves behind Checo (hairpin). He mentioned some sort of "mist" that seemed to cause his very weird loss of control (remember, this is ALONSO).

The so-called "telemetry" is just a bunch of people thinking they saw something which confirms their beliefs in a video of an onboard lap and calling it "telemetry." Notice nobody with any racing experience has confirmed any of this nor did any analysis confirming it.
People keep heavily focusing on the "Gearbox" as a reason why Perez wouldn't risk crashing at Monaco. I feel this is heavily influenced from Charles crash the year before.
I just want to remind you, that Charles crash was over 2x the speed of Perez's. Crash's are not linear in terms of force, but rather exponential. Charles crash was likely 4x more force than Perez's. Based off other low speed collisions in the past, the chances of him having severe enough damage to take a penalty is pretty low, and he would know this.
"Why wouldn't he go nose first." because it would be too obvious. There would be way more controversy. How long did Perez's crash get caught in the media? It was barely a blip, until now it basically went unnoticed.

He just renewed his contract with Red Bull, was in his mind, still in the fight for the championship so it was important to him to be the lead Red Bull at a track where overtaking is virtually impossible under normal circumstances. I am sure that when Max studied the data and onboards, he didn't need anyone to tell him what Checo had done. I don't for one minute believe that Checo owned this up to Christian and Marko. He didn't need to.
I remember the story that Peter Windsor told after Max's first win in Barcelona in 2016, that when Max took P4 in Barcelona, he was angry at himself that Ricciardo beat him at the last run in Q3 and he stayed on the track the whole evening, studying the data with his engineers, finding out where he could have improved and how Ricciardo beat him in that final run? He is relentless. Any normal person would have said, P4 on debut? Fantastic! Time to celebrate a job very well done. But not Max.
He is just not such a guy and when he feels that he is being cheated, beit Esteban Ocon in Brazil in 2018, Sky Sports, other journalists that had a stab at him for making too many mistakes, etc, he will speak out for himself and doesn't take any prisoners. And don't we like him for that? That take no prisoner's attitude, fight to the Max.
Let alone if you deliberately screwed him over. He will never ever let that go unanswered. So, he decided to get back at Checo, just to warn him that you just don't screw Max over. I honestly feel that Max always wants an equal fight and not play dirty tricks, so if you do the dirty on him, he will not forget.
Having all that said, what I don't understand about this whole saga is, that if Max had already told the team in the summer (!!) why wasn't it dealt with indoors by Christian and Helmut?? Why let this open wound linger?
This also shows that how great the performance/attitude of Mercedes has been because when you're winning, things are easy. It is no suprise to me that at a weekend when both Red Bulls were greatly off the pace, cracks start to appear, pressure mounts because it is no longer plain sailing and these types of incidents were happening.
Hope this will have a happy ending for Checo and therefore, also for Max. They need to be excellent team mates because the competition is going to be a lot tougher in 2023 than it has been in 2022.
And so by being their number one driver he has it in his contract that his car be superior to what Perez drives because I don’t want to compete with a no2 teammate and of course they go along with his wishes. That also explains the slump on Perez side of the garage right after Monaco. I remember the next race at Baku Perez best track and he was no where. No one is allowed to race Verstappen and Jos reminded them after Monaco who their no1 driver is.

I think Max is well aware that the Monaco thing even if true, isn't a valid excuse. Max had a weekend that went against him and wasn't thinking straight, the last thing he would've wanted to hear is a radio call telling him to give a position. Disappointing for sure, but losing sleep over this is ridiculous.
Good point. Even if he's won 14 races, he was probably still quite frustrated with how the race had gone.
