From Guwahati To

This month 25 years ago, India was caught unawares as Pakistani troops in the guise of terrorists intruded into the Kargil sector. What followed was a war that eventually culminated in an Indian military victory two months later.
StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale was then posted in Guwahati as the Northeast correspondent for 'Outlook' magazine. An urgent call from the Editor's office brought him to Delhi where he was told to proceed to Leh the very next day.
The onward journey began on June 2, 1999 and the areas he had never visited before would be his area of operation for the next 45-odd days. It was tough but an experience he cherishes to date, as he recalls in this episode of 'Simply Nitin'.
