    17:45 from what I've read, when helicopters and planes get into dogfights with guns, it's usually the helos that win. It's not ridiculous at all for a helo with gunpods to threaten aircraft, they can be very agile, and in this case they're using the same 23mm autocannon used by Soviet-era fighters, they'll be able to put out a lot of fire if they go head-on against a plane.

      Yeah gonna need real world evidence of a helo using gun pods to engage a fighter jet...

      @@BandannersRTS in 1978 the US Army and USAF did a joint exercise called J-CATCH that tested fighters against helicopters, the helicopters apparently went 5-1 against fixed-wing aircraft. You don't see any engagements between fighters and helos since then because it's doctrine everywhere that fighters should keep well away from enemy helicopters.

      @@xeroprotagonist I still can't imagine they were taking out jets with gunpods haha.
      Missiles sure, but fixed wing gunpods.

      @@BandannersRTS Apparently that was the case. To quote Wikipedia; "To the surprise of many involved in the program, the helicopters proved extremely dangerous to the fighters when they were properly employed, racking up a 5-to-1 kill ratio over the fighters when fighting at close ranges with guns." At those ranges, guns would beat missiles; hence the doctrine to stay away.

    21:45 They would be even better unit if there wasn't VDV Metis squad in infantry tab with same Metis but for only 65 points instead 85...
    Also if you are going to paradrop, you really want to have Spetsnaz as a good paradropable anti-infantry infantry
    27:44 You read it absolutely right, it means something like mantle, by the way
    28:53 Yes it is a HEAT shell, while the second round is a HE shell, I think they removed the missile for balance reason, since it can see far enough to find targets for itself

    Top-attack/fire and forget missiles for Russia are LMUR(mi-28NM) and Sokol-V(T-14 Armata)

    BMD-2 is significantly lighter and less armored than other IFV (to be able to airdrop). For example, irl BMP-2 has top speed of 65km/h, Bradley is 56km/h while BMD-2 is 80 km/h. Hope this help.

    • @BandannersRTS
      @BandannersRTS  7 місяців тому +1

      That's interesting to know, do you think the T15 would be 80 as well though irl?

      @@BandannersRTS On Wikipedia it stated that T-15 has 65-70km/h top speed, but it is still not a mass-production model so we dont know yet. However, consider that T-80 tank can reach 80km/h and M1 Abram can reach 72km/h, it certainly can reach that speed with the right engine.

    Russia don't have any top-attack missiles IRL, it's accurate.
    And as I know, in game you can hit top armor only with top-attack weapons, it doesn't matter where are they launched from. If it doesn't have Top-attack trait, it hits Front/sides/rear armor, which is accurate, helicopters don't fly that high to easily hit tanks in the roof.

      @@krzysztof3813 which one? I guess you talk about LMUR (ЛМУР or Изделие 305) but it's not a top-attack missile, it's actually a missile with a camera that sends image back to the operator, so it can be used as a top attack, if the operator is skilled enough, but it's not what is usually called a top-attack like TOW-2B or Javelin that do a top attack automatically

    Russia can bring out helis that can carry out 21 troops have anti air or anti inf rockets with atgms for less than either the dedicated American attack helis with just atgms or most of americas heavy transport helis with like a pair of 240s… what the heck kinda balance is that?

    • @BandannersRTS
      @BandannersRTS  7 місяців тому +1

      Well the difference is the USA do not have their airborne brigade in the beta, where Russia has their VDV included in the two brigades. So I expect you will get cheaper transports in that. Of course that said I expect pricing to undergo some changes :)
      I should note of course they run different tech in terms of transport helos. I can't actually think of a heavily armed US transport helo off the top of my head? And while the game avoids total realism they try to stick to the stuff both use/plan to use.
      Where the Russian use all the Mi8s etc which tend to have rocket pods etc.
