Me, my dad and some friends of ours went fishing in Lafitte in August. We found a good spot and were throwing popping corks with dead shrimp and doing pretty good with that. We would occasionally see a red cruise by the boat so my dad pulled out a redfish magic and started tearing it up just sight casting to them going by the boat. Those things work.

Keeping them fish on a stringer is risky. A gator is liable to come up, grab that stringer of fish and BOOM! your flipped right next to a water lizard
40-50 years of doing so , even in alligator loaded bayous and marsh, I've never had that happen. they are a pretty skittish animal. not saying they won't...

I've been looking at Hobie and Old Town Kayaks for about 2 months now. I was just about to buy a Hobie. But my wife said why don't you use that money to put a down payment on a skiff. Now that doesn't happen to often so I may just have to get a boat and wait a little longer for a kayak.
if i buy another boat it will be a flats skiff. having said that and having owned like 9-10 boats... u will fish 100 times more with a kayak...
I'll definitely get a skiff. Being 70 years old I think I'll get the boat and get a kayak. With a skiff I can take my wife out. She wont do a kayak.
