  • The MALM Commander was designed with members of the Swedish Navy to commemorate their 500 Year Anniversary! Once only available to service members, now this version of the MALM Commander 42 is for sale to the public. This tool watch packs a few nautical features, including the compass bezel as a navigational aid. The watches are assembled in Sweden, feature a premium wooden display box, include bracelet sizing tools, and come with a 5 year warranty.
I didn't cover it in the video, but my favorite color of this watch is the new Storm Orange variation that just opened up for pre-sale. It's stunning!

This watch was on loan from the manufacturer, through their consultant, for the purpose of showcasing on this channel, without compensation. The watch was returned after all filming was completed.

    Wow! What a beauty! 😍
And apparently more than skin deep.
By the way, your vids are getting much better. Excellent B shots.
Keep up the good work. 😊👍

Definitely a beauty...and I LOVE the knurling! Definitely check out their new Storm Orange version of this watch, too!
Thanks for the compliments. The more time I get with the watch, the better the shots. This was from over 130 clips and an hour of footage. Down to 8.5 minutes! I love producing the full review videos, because of all the b-roll, but I think my unboxing videos historically get more views. It's fun to produce both, though.

Great video. Newish subsriber here. Love your review style. You have the perfect narrator voice. Your comments are brief and to the point. You cover every point of information the watch collector needs and nothing superfluous. Well done, Sir! Happy New Year to you and yours.

Oh, that's awesome...thanks for the kind words! I'm still refining the process and trying to make small improvements with each video. I'm learning how to do this right in front of you. Thanks for the confirmation that I'm on the right path. Happy New Year!

I love this silver dial, especially with the pops of color, but I REALLY wanted to see the new Storm Orange fumé dial...it looks SPECTACULAR!

Great build and beautiful dial/handset. I really enjoyed it on the leather rally strap too, despite losing water wearability.

This is a stunningly nice looking tool watch. Unfortunately it would be too big for my six and a half inch wrist. 1:44 That is a higher than average amplitude for a run of the mill NH35 movement.

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt  5 місяців тому

It wore like a 40mm to me, but yeah...pretty lengthy lug to lug for you. NHxx movements are just inconsistent from one to the next. This one is swinging pretty good for its line, as you say, but the next one could be under average. Thankfully, I've had pretty good luck with all of mine. Also, this reading is from only one position.

Just on my minimum size for a change. Thanks for the review.

Big watch brother! I like to think of 40mm as my minimum, but there are always exceptions that can fit well. But I usually gravitate towards 42 to 44mm.

I will drop to 40 if it's an especially elegant piece that I will only wear occasionally. I'm happiest around the 44 to 46 mark. My everyday driver is a GWG-1000 mudmaster. I realise I'm a little outside the bell curve.@@WatchWitt

No, I get you. I like larger sizes too, but review what's out there. I try not to review smaller watches, though, because it would look weird to model them on my 8 inch wrist. Love that Mudmaster! My biggest watch is a 52mm Invicta (of course) Pro Diver!

    • @Plexcom60

So you get it too. I often start watching reviews of interesting watches but lose interest when the small size is quoted. It's not to say I can't appreciate them, but if I can't wear them I'll move on. That's a sizeable Invicta. I know they do a lot of big watches but I didn't know the Pro Divers came that big. I have an Invite Grand Diver that comes in at about the 46mm mark and it seems like I'm wearing a small armoured vehicle on my wrist. At the same time it appears to be a very well built watch even if it isn't highly specced. @@WatchWitt

@Plexcom60 I still keep watching the video if it's too small, because I'm just a watch nerd. But as far as producing a video, I feel like unboxing videos is all I can do with a small watch. Hard to give my actual "review" of a watch if I can't/don't wear it. The Invicta I'm talking about is a Limited Edition...not sure if that contributed to the size. I'm not really familiar with the brand, as that's my only Invicta, and I prefer their more "tame" pieces. Most of my co-workers collect all kinds of Invicta watches. Here's the video if you want to sneak a peek. ua-cam.com/video/Lu4h7NQcz78/v-deo.html

IMHO calling it a "tool watch" is a bit of misnomer. To my mind that watch would also handle more formal evenings out type settings with a jacket and tie. Thanks for the informative video.

Tool watch definitions vary amongst enthusiasts, as you pointed out. To me, a tool watch, at the heart of it, is a watch that has a specific complication or feature beyond just telling time. This compass bezel for navigational aid meets the criteria for me. I also think a rugged look, like from this knurling, is a "visual" tool watch cue too. For more formal evenings, like you mentioned, I'm more in the "sport watch" mindset. Thanks for watching and commenting...love the interaction!
