Another BRILLIANT video. I’ve been struggling with word order, Mel. I Googled it and found you again. I will be watching everything you’ve got! Thank you so much.
I have been looking for information like this for years - thank you very much Mel - please do more. I feel that not know sentence order has stopped me from confidently improving with my BSL learning, because I know most of the time I am signing SSE and not BSL order. Thank you again!
English is not even my mother tongue but I try to learn a little BSL for a story that I write. I think this is quite helpful, especially for people that already struggle with English syntax.
Hi Jessica, sign order is the number 1 question I find. I have a video on BSL syntax which hopefully you will find useful. Its on my beginners playlist. Thank you for your question
I’m learning ASL (American Sign Language) and BSL word order has helped me get a better grasp on ASL word order. :) thank you! :) I understand that ASL and BSL are two completely DIFFERENT sign languages but I believe their word order are the same. The only difference is the alphabets and the signs. :)
Thats great, Im really pleased its been helpful! I find as a Deaf person when I meet other Deaf from around the world that use other sign language , we can still converse, not in a complicated way but enough to get by, even though as you said its a completely different language. All the best with your ASL.
BSL learning with Mel thank you!! ☺️☺️☺️ and I have a question, I hope it’s not too much trouble but I have been making my own sentences in ASL gloss from English and I don’t have anyone to check them to see if I am doing things right. If it wouldn’t be much trouble may you check them, please? And you can tell me if I am on the right track or not? :) Here are a couple of examples: 1) I like to walk through the park because it is peaceful. lx-PARK-WALK-I-LIKE (wh-q) WHY? PEACEFUL. 2) Beth spilled food on her dress. fs-BETH-lx-SHE,lx-FOOD-SPILLED, (wh-q) WHERE? HER-DRESS. 3) Yesterday we had ice cream. YESTERDAY-ICE-CREAM-WE-HAVE.
Kiki TheDisneyFan Hiya I would sign 1. Park walk like why peaceful. (I would miss the i out because facial expression will show that its you so you don’t have to use it)
I love the syntax of signing, it is so interesting if not a little challenging having to re-think and re-order words, but it is important to sign correctly so to be easier understood. your syntax videos are also very good because we can pickup new signs along the way as you sign and explain. 👍
Hi Paul, thank you very much. What you say is very interesting, some people think signing is Signs but in English word order, they don't always realise it is a complete language. Thank you very much for supporting my channel.
So I have a question. A simple sentence like I need my hat, in bsl would it be hat I need? Or I would like tea please it would be, tea I would like please?
thank you so much for posting all of these videos! they are the most helpful vidoes ive found on youtube!
Taylor Cullen You’re very welcome Taylor, thank for supporting me 🤗

BSL learning with Mel Thank you so much and don’t worry I completely understand. :)
Kiki TheDisneyFan Hiya
I would sign

This is amazing Mel. If you've not done so already, are you doing videos on more complex sentences and grammar?
Thank you very much. I have under my improvers playlist.
Why can't I like this more than once?!
I’m new to BSL and I’m scared that I’ll never wrap my head around this, and everything I sign will be in the wrong order.
Hi Grace, don't worry, you'll get there. It takes quite sometime to get used to sign order.
BSL learning with Mel Thanks Mel, I hope so!!
@@SuperGeekalicious Hi Grace, I'm sure I will. If it helps I think sign order is one of the number 1 questions people ask or struggle with.
Love this
