Excellent video Goat Hikes. In case you go back or if it can help others, here's a few notes. 1. Spider meadows: Campground has lots of sites, both sides of the creek. Those on the other side are not as obvious. There is a friendly deer that likes to visit you while you are on the toilet. Just talk sports. He's a Mariners fan:-) Hang your food well. The rodents are really good at chewing into your stuff and getting at your food. 2. Spyder Glacier: We found it easiest to just sit down and slide to get back down. I was protecting my knee and the thought of going down the backside with a pack on etc was unappealing. You don't really get much speed but it's really expedient. 3. Image lake: There are camp sites above, which you can see in this video but also several large sites down below the sites you see in the video. They are group sites but if not in use you can use. Lots of hammock spaces there. There are also two toilets at image lake. Lastly, 1/2 mile up the trail from the lake is the Mission Ridge fire lookout. If you want views, oh man, that's the place. Shoot pics of Glacier peak over the water. Iconic shot. Sundown is great too. Beware of bugs at night though. 4. Buck creek pass campground. There are quite a few sites and two bathrooms. The water is down the hill and past the spring where the water is, you will find more sites (one is up on the left as you go down, its somewhat hidden). So for camp sites you will find 3-4 up above which have the views but little in the way of food hanging trees (also have bugs that look like ticks but are not), the horse site down the hill a ways and on the left, and about 6-8 down by the spring. 5. On the segment between image lake and buck creek pass, just after you come out of the valley and crest the mountain there is a trail to the left to a place called Sheep Camp. It's not far, maybe 3/4 mile or so. It has a huge meadow and nice views. Plenty of water. When you enter the meadow there is a site high up on the left that is not obvious. The majority are in the trees to the right or on the other side of the stream further to the right. Well worth a night there. Go up the hill and shoot pictures of the sundown. Amazing.
Hiking the PNW is a treat. We have such a pristine wilderness still. Quite wild and hard to access. Beautiful trip. Thank you for the video. I am planning a Spider Gap, Red Mtn, Lyman, Cloudy Peak and North Star Mountain next summer and this give me a great idea of the route.
Incredible backpacking trip my friend! Seven years ago I planned a week long backpacking trip up there, end up cutting it short because of the weather. I’m totally heading up there soon again! Thanks for the video and for being a genuine human being.
JUST DID iT!!! effin forrest fires kept our views like eh. Bro thank you... what an amazing video. You underplay the zig zags on the gaps. You da man... Thank YOU... maybe my girlfriend will believe me lol.... sending you so much love thank you brother
Thanks for the trip video! I’ve been to Image Lake a couple of times and Buck Creek Pass once. My wife and I are going to Buck Creek Pass this week, with meanders to Flower Dome and High Pass. Cheers!
Hiking up Buck Pass, camping, and returning was one of the best hiking experiences of my life. Check the weather. Do your research. You WILL be rewarded.
Definitely check the weather, but don't trust it.I was there a couple years ago and the forecast was 10 days of sunshine. Reality included rain and thunderstorms...
Amazing. I want to go there now! A few questions: How long is the hiking section in the burnt forest? Also, on a random week day in july how crowded would it be?
