The DUP will continue to seek the restoration of Northern Ireland's place in the UK internal market - we wont shirk our responsibility and will make our decisions rationally and clearly in the knowledge that we are the custodians of Northern Ireland's place within the United Kingdom.
Eveyone in the HoC looked like they were falling asleep during this speech.

It's simply because the majority of Britain's politicians, and general population, have no interest in Northern Ireland.
The union is going boys get used to it as a northern protestant im looking forward to a fresh new united ireland.
“Cross community consensus” while admitting its a “divided” community. “Good government”? Come on. How about abandoning the us versus them policy. Democracy failing and the only people that get hurt are the citizens of NI.

Glad to hear the DUP is standing strong for the restoration of full UK rights to Northern Ireland. Unionists are behind this principled stance but we will not tolerate any sell-out.

@@asanulsterman1025 consequences of what the DUP pushed for unfortunately, ideally they wanted the border to fall around NI/ROI which didn't happen. The only way to remove it is full realignment in the areas they had hoped to diverge from, which is looking likely, although brexiteers in England won't be happy. I generally don't understand how goods check would really impact a person's sense of national identity. Plenty of goods and services have been treated differently in NI over the years, the adverts in England/Scotland/Wales which specifically state "excludes NI" spring to mind.
@@funnyflix895 what new legislation? The GFA is a multi-party internationally binding peace treaty. Any change in the parameters for a border poll would need to be agreed by all those involved..and I suspect perhaps even put to the people.
I have been aware of Jeffrey Donaldson for almost thirty years. This is by far the most passionate and honest speech I have ever heard from him.
That bought him about 2 more weeks to get a deal published.

Can Sir Jeffery explain in simple direct language what level of cross-party consensus is required for all the NI political parties to enter Stormont to set the levels of algae on Lough Neagh that the public should accept? To set up standards of care for the ecology of Northern Ireland? If the DUP want to set divergent standards to those of the EU, to set the UK apart from the EU then how much lower should NI standards be compared with EU standards, for the DUP to meet their expectations of Brexit?
May Sir Jeffrey's message be properly heard by those who need to listen.
