Nice initiative of Bruce to play this concert in 1988. The next day he played in front of 80 000 paying people at the Hippodrome Vincennes on his Tunnel of Love Express Tour.

Blowin' in the Wind is one of the best songs Bob Dylan ever wrote, in my opinion, but Bruce Springsteen singing it? Perfection.

Si Anella Bruce che canta Dylan è uno spettacolo emozionante e profetico perché tutti noi , piccoli umani , dovremmo cercare nella nostra vita una metaforica terra promessa !!

Incredible performance of Bruce. Hard to See the 300 000 in the audience though. But I guess Bruce was the last artist on the Bill. I have seen footage from earlier in the day and its a huge Crowd. Not as big as the 500 000 in East Berlin but huge Crowd Anyway. But the Paris Concert was a free Concert, with other artists. The East Berlin Show was a regular ticket Tumnel of Love express tour show. 160 000 or 170 000 tickets were sold in East Berlin Then another 340 000 people gate crashed the East Berlin show. Something absolutely unheard of in Communistic East Berlin. 500 000 people watching Bruce Springsteen in a big field in East Berlin and Bruce says in a speach that he hopes that all the Walls someday Will fall. Bruce sure was on fire in 1988. The Paris Concert shows this very well. The next day he did his regular ticketed show on the Tunnel of Love Express tour in front of 80 000 people at the Hippodrome Vincennes.

As was often the case with much of Dylan’s songbook over his life, covers often were better than Dylan’s original. There are numerous examples, such as Blowing In The Wind, of which I first heard either Joan Baez or Peter Paul and Mary (I did hear Joan perform it live in college), and there’s All Along the Watchtower, which Jimi Hendrix produced a cover within 24 hours of Dylan’s original release, and far better known. Even Dylan was quoted as saying Hendrix’s cover was better. (And there’s a great cover of the cover composed by Bear McCreary for Battlestar Galactica in the 00’s.) But my main point is this Bruce and others have covered Dylan’s songs and often do them justice.
