  • On paper, at least in the 2019 Echo product catalog, doesn't sound all that exciting compared to the PB-2520 and PB-255LN. But once you look into the actual features of the PB-2620 and the design of this blower you start to realize just how good of a machine it really is. At this point you stop questioning why it's $50 more than the PB-2520 and start realizing that there are way more than $50 in upgrades and features in the PB-2620! The PB-2620 is a part of the Echo X Series line up of professional grade power equipment. And even though the PB-2620 might have been designed for professional use, that doesn't mean it isn't a great option for use around the home. In fact it makes it even more of an option for home owners because if it's built to handle the hard life of daily professional use, then (in theory) it will last even longer for the occasional or seasonal user.

      The difference is mostly on paper, not worth 50-70 bucks. The filtration on 2520 uses the same medium so they both filter the same as they're small engines with small cylinder airflow, same cfm blowing power, cheaper and also lighter. They're both pro grade and the engines are pretty much identical.

    Excellent review with a lot of great info that I was not aware of. I just purchased the 2620 after my pb231LN needed a new carb. After 15 years of use , it was easy to upgrade to the 2620. I enjoy the extra power or energy this blower has out the tube.

      A lot of people keep putting Band-Aids on their older hand held equipment to keep them going, but it reaches a certain point where even if they do have their old equipment running like new it still doesn't have the power and performance of a newer unit. It can be tough to make that call sometimes.

      Thanks for the feedback. When we first saw the PB-2620 at a technical training it just didn't sound like there was that big of a difference between the two on paper. But as we found out there is plenty of reasons to spend the extra money and take home a PB-2620

      Thanks for the great feedback! When the PB-2620 was first show to us my honest first comment to the Echo reps were why would anyone spend $50 more for the PB-2620 when they can buy the PB-2520 and a duckbilled nozzle for another $10 or so? But after looking deeper into it I realized there's a lot more gong for the PB-2620 than I realized.

    I just received the echo hand held from work when my old blower finally kicked the bucket. I was skeptical at first, but then I was like wow really nice blower even for the commercial work that I do. My old blower had 150 mph compared to echo 170mph and the echo is a pound and 1/2 lighter, and quieter. Just give it 3 mins to warm up!

    Seems to have a big design fault, the engine is connected to the frame as part of the structure, where the Stihl and husky the engines are connected by springs etc for better vibration control.

    Used Echo strimmers & hedgecutters in the past, been pretty good but the best hand held blowers I've used are the Makita MM4 and the Husqvarna 525BX!

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  3 роки тому +2

      The 525BX is a smooth running machine with those antivide springs! And it's also a bit more comfortable to run than the PB-2620 because it has the contour in blower housing to line the outgoing air up with the handle. The Echo is well built and a really nice machine, but it does lack those two comfort features. Thanks for the feedback!

      The Milwaukee stuff is pretty nice and it's always a plus if you have their power tools and multiple batteries. But as far as power, or blowing force in this case, the gas powered ECHO will be the better option.

    Is there a reason echo put the intake on the left side? Given that most people are right handed, wouldn't it be better for it to be on the right side so it wouldn't need a guard to prevent clothes being sucked in?

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  4 роки тому +2

      If I had to guess (which I am) I would say it's because as you mentioned with most people being right handed would put the exhaust against their clothing or body and be a dangerous scenario.

    BOTH the Echo PB-2620 & PB-2520 have either some form of Nikel-Silicon Carbide or simply a Hard Chrome plating on their cylinder walls, though Echo neglects to advertise the presence of a "chrome" plating in the lower end 2520. Often NikaSil, NiCom, etc... are confused with a "Chrome Plating", while Hard Chrome plating(s) on engine cylinders have, for some time, been supplanted by superior NiCom, NikaSil & other various platings, even cheap China made two strokes have some form of a Nickel, Silicon Carbide "NiCom", "NikaSil", Hard Chrome, etc... plating, if they didn't their lifespan would be VERY VERY short!, 4 strokes with high silicon aluminum "AluSil" cylinder material "plating" will hold up due to the lack of 2-stroke cylinder wall ports. AluSil is preferred over NikaSil platings due their ability to resist Sulphur induced corrosion by manufacturers like BMW.

      Supply and demand. The demand is high for these blowers because they are a great value and perform very well. On the supply end though, Echo hasn't been able to keep the production up to match the demand because of parts and labor shortages like all manufacturers are facing. Best bet is to check out the Echo website and find an Echo dealer in your area and see if they have one.

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  4 роки тому +4

      I get the info straight from Echo just like I've been for well over a decade. The PB-2520 is their consumer model blower and the PB-2620 is their professional grade model which is why it has the X Series designation. There's also plenty of other consumer models in Echo's equipment line up like the GT-225, GT-225i, SRM-225, SRM-225i, CS-310, PB-265LN, PB-580, and the list goes on.

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  4 роки тому +4

      All ECHO handheld equipment regardless of whether they are intended for commercial use or for the homeowner are “Professional Grade” meaning the components are manufactured with commercial quality parts and are designed to be repaired if needed. Many competitors design their homeowner equipment to be discarded after they are damaged or fail. That method makes the manufacturing process less expensive which can help drive down the retail cost. ECHO does not take that approach in their consumer designed equipment. They build their consumer products with the same quality as their commercial products. That is a reason why ECHO products are priced higher compared to some other competitors. The “X” Series line of handheld equipment is specifically designed for commercial use.

    There's zero reasons to get 2620 over the 2520. The air filter on both uses the same filtration material, the engine is small so both filters are more than enough. The fact they both have the same airspeed proves it. Not worth 50 bucks more for gimmicky "better" features, when in the end its a machine that performs the same, heavier, and more expensive.
