LOL!1 Love it ! We share the same mentality, ride them as they were meant to be ridden and fix what breaks and then ride it some more. If it gets scratched or chipped remember it is a motor bike and go for a ride...:-)
Back in the day I had a Triumph 3TA, 350cc. Probably an early sixties era. It was the model with the bath tubs! After a van drove into the back of the bike and trashed the panels I discovered that the oil tank under neath the bath tub side was a beautiful chrome job! Hidden from view. I loved that bike and still ride a Speed Triple and I'm 73 years young!
That is another very sweet bike, I remember when I was a teen, no one wanted their "Brit bike" to sound as "obnoxious" as a harley. The two into one is very fine sounding. Thanks for showing this one.
That BSA logo of the three crossed rifles on the engine case is SO cool. I am also someone who believes in riding the old girls... don't let them sit. Good for him. Nice property there too, I like his range setup!
He reminds me of Malcolm McDowell's character in the 1968 Lyndsay Anderson film "If" when he steals an RGS from the garage. Look it up on YT. What a glorious sound!
Great to see a well used BSA and the owner enjoying the ride. Yes Mike in the UK the oil tank and side panel would remain black and the petrol tank would be the larger 4 uk gallon type.
Thanks Mike for showing us Mike’s RGS. It makes a change to see an older British bike ridden like that rather than just seeing an immaculate bike trailered to vintage meets or sat in a museum. It sounds glorious and shifts off the line 👍
As noted in an earlier comment I was thinking of Steve McQueen also! Mike seems like quite a character, I like his backyard range - I could tell him a story that would make him cry about trying that up here in Canada LOL!
Hi Mike, it's funny how we may appear somewhat contradictory, the other day, for instance, I said about one of your great videos on Cul-de-Sac how I appreciate the gentle atmosphere that seems to flow from you and your motorcycle acquitances but, on the other hand, I can't hide that I also appreciate some levels of, lets say, "good natured hooliganism" depicted on this one. I kinda like the peaceful vibe of the folks but lets face it, we all ride motorcycles because of the fun. I mean, they are fast, they are dangerous, they are loud and we may get hurt (or worse) riding them and all of those factors are parts of their magic, fascination and appeal. As the character of Robert Redford put on Little Fauss and Big Halsey : 'Cycle's a mean toy... 😉 It's good to see one of the guys riding so carefree. People and bikes are not built like that anymore. Beautiful non restored BSA, and an owner that clearly loves his steed but does not worship it, brilliant! As usual, very nice video. Thanks for posting it. All the best from Brazil. ✌
That certainly bought a smile to my face this sunday morning 👍 The RGS sounds a treat, thanks to Mike for once again sharing the bikes story with us. Have a great week Mike atvb t ..
Another great video, really appreciate your uploads (especially the cul-de-sac videos now that you're able to do them again), all the insights and adventures into classic / vintage biking. Just can't beat the sound of a well ridden old skool twin either! Especially on those 2-1 pipes!
Thank you for sharing! Only: where are the youngsters? Don't they ride these beauties anymore, have they lost the art of kick starting a classic bike???
How do you survive on that thing? No ABS, no traction control, no wheelie control, no IMU, and no rider modes. I love those 1950s Brit bikes with those magnetos that never miss a beat when the revs get up. Great video btw.
Great bike, but I think the fuel tank looks a bit on the small side in proportion to the rest of bike, that’s just my opinion, but he’s not worried about sliding the backend out, he’s braver than me, I wouldn’t risk it on an old classic, cheers Mike for Sharing that with us.⚙️🔩🔧🇬🇧👍
Cool bike. My 64 Triumph TR6 has a chrome oil tank and side panel (done by a previous owner.) I'm not a huge fan of that look,, but it works well with this BSA since the gas tank is mostly chrome. When I eventually paint my tank I'd like to get those chromed panels put back to stock black.
That must have a standard gearbox on it? The front brake looks worn and the headlight is too high and the lens is off centre. The headlight brackets are not RGS. Apart from that it's a beauty. You have some great mates Mike.
Now, see what you missed when you had your own real RGS roller? Certainly got top dollar on eBay but it's not difficult to round up the bits, shame you let such a gem get away. My buddy Steve shipped it to Scotland and I believe its been restored. Keep calm & ride a BSA.
Cheers Doug. Yes, that was a tough decision but honestly I don't think I would have ever got around to restoring. I'm glad that it went to someone who could put it back together again quicker. Cheers
One of the nicest A10's around for sure. Technical question, you said it has 10.5:1 compression so how do you keep it from detonating? I've ridden many miles on an A10 but I could never successfully run anything higher than 7.5:1 compression with out having detonation problems.
What ever happened to " swept back pipes"..I've had Norton, BSA, Triumph in the 60s and they all had twin swept backs, always thought they looked better than the standard pipes..
Thanks Roy, yes I have heard the funny story that there are actually more RGS bikes on the road than were ever produced in the factory 😉. Thanks for your note. Cheers, Mike
Mike rides that bike like Steve McQueen ! Sounds awesome and I also loved to see him kick start the bike off the stand 🇬🇧🏍
What a sound!! That boy can ride for sure. I loved how he kicked it sideways under full throttle. That was fun. Thx Mike
Wow. That’s got some poke off the line and sounds fantastic.
Hahaha "some poke" . The last time I heard that phrase was in 1984 in Zimbabwe. So glad that some of us preserve those good old phrases.
Usually the sound on U-Tube is pretty flat, but that bike sounded awesome when Mike gave it a couple of squirts. Very Very good. Thank you!
👍👍real riders steer with the back wheel 🤣😮👀😂👍🍺🍺🍺🏆
Nice and he rides his bike. Sounded great and had the get up and go. Thanks Mike.
That's exactly how these bikes should be ridden. Nice one!
LOL!1 Love it ! We share the same mentality, ride them as they were meant to be ridden and fix what breaks and then ride it some more. If it gets scratched or chipped remember it is a motor bike and go for a ride...:-)

That was awesome - kind of captures where my head was as a budding ridinig teen in the later 60s/early 70s. Freaking incredible sound.
Nice. Thank you for showing it off for us.
He just needed a warm up lap😂🤣😂 What a guy!!!👍
That is another very sweet bike, I remember when I was a teen, no one wanted their "Brit bike" to sound as "obnoxious" as a harley. The two into one is very fine sounding. Thanks for showing this one.
Thanks a lot, John. That was a terrific visit to meet with Mike and his amazing RGS!
I am so glad, Mike rode it like that!
That confirms I need to get one.
Got to have a bike which is a bit of a beast. 👍
What a great bike and a great story.
Many thanks, I loved hearing it roar up the driveway 😉 Best wishes, Mike
Lovely to see a good honest BSA👍
That BSA logo of the three crossed rifles on the engine case is SO cool. I am also someone who believes in riding the old girls... don't let them sit. Good for him. Nice property there too, I like his range setup!
Just a great bike and a nice chap 👍🇬🇧
He reminds me of Malcolm McDowell's character in the 1968 Lyndsay Anderson film "If" when he steals an RGS from the garage. Look it up on YT. What a glorious sound!
Holy holy cow what a 2nd pass ladies and gentlemen we have a winner.
Lol
Bit of Speedway on the BSA 😂.
1963 was a great year cheers Mike.
Restored just to the right level for a rider's bike, and very authentic as proven by the rotating headlight lens that so often happens.
Lovely BSA! Honorable mention to the ‘67 - ‘72 Ford stepside in the background as well!
What an awesome bike and the owner knows how to ride it!
Had to watch twice! Great fun Mike
Interesting character and bike...thanks for the post.
Great video Mike. Had to grin when he was giving it the beans!
This is the type of rider i like riding with \m/ RIPPER
Mike giving it the beans on his gravel drive just made my day. Lol. Gotta grow old disgracefully - its the only way!!!
So much fun. Loved watching him rip up the road.
That is one beautiful bike. Loud and proud love it love it love it.
Great to see a well used BSA and the owner enjoying the ride. Yes Mike in the UK the oil tank and side panel would remain black and the petrol tank would be the larger 4 uk gallon type.
Just a wonderful machine, the RGS is one of my favourites.
Sounds lovely, really nice machine. Love the impromptu rifle range too !
What a beautiful looking and sounding BSA RGS!
Thanks for sharing 👍 🏴

All the best from Brazil. ✌
That video put a smile on my face. As always, thank you Mike.
A bit before I was born in 59, my late father had a Golden Flash. He was a "rocker ton up boy" cafe racing North of London.
Very cool, thanks Russ . Cheers, Mike
Great to see a bike been used.
Super guy! Very friendly and a lovely bike
Hooligan! It sounds great!
That certainly bought a smile to my face this sunday morning 👍
The RGS sounds a treat, thanks to Mike for once again sharing the bikes story with us.
Have a great week Mike atvb t ..
Sounded great on the run with the ignition property advanced! 👍
He's nucking futs!!
I do that an ALL my bikes including my survivor 1973 TX650 !
Wow that boy can ride a bike for sure just love to see this😂😂. Lovely bike too thank you Mike for sharing it with us
Definitely motocross background.
👍👍😉yes, definitely!
Great video and great bike! I think Mike's motocross skills were showing through a little.....
i had one, bought it as a box of bits for £100!had a Norton tank, which i kept rode it and sold it 3 years later for £800.
Great video Mike, didnt expect to see the rear wheel drift though. What a bike!
That was one of the best he's a top man

YES i would , especially for a friend .
Sounds spectacular.
Great video! Thanks!
😜👍 what a character
Just brilliant ! 😎
Great to see
Thank you for sharing! Only: where are the youngsters? Don't they ride these beauties anymore, have they lost the art of kick starting a classic bike???
Thinking of buying one same as yours 1963 in the UK
Good luck, Matthew. They are fantastic bikes. Probably the best BSA in my opinion. The gold stars are very cool, but the rockets gold star is awesome.
How do you survive on that thing? No ABS, no traction control, no wheelie control, no IMU, and no rider modes. I love those 1950s Brit bikes with those magnetos that never miss a beat when the revs get up. Great video btw.

BSA stands for british scientific achievement nice bike thank you
not bloody sore arse then ?
Lovely bike and that sound is amazing. I think that it was this BSA model that Kawasaki copied back in the late sixties.
Had one in ,,63 totally different
I never should have sold my 1956 A10 Road Rocket 😢
Only one I ever saw with a alloy rocket 🚀 on the front fender👍🔥
A fantastic bike and the sound is amazing great video as always cheers 👍
What a bike ,what a sound ;what a guy !! I`m not brave enough to do that on HIS Rocket Goldstar! (I thought siamese pipes were standard?)
Keep in touch with the Gold Star Owner's club!! UK
GSOC have the factory records
Great video again! Mike, thats the way the RGS should be driven, great!
its dynamite on wheels thanks 4 the show
Brilliant, absolutely stunning. I might try and ride my A10 like that ! On second thoughts maybe not. 😉
Brill bike and video
Looks like she has some power left in the old girl!
All Mike needs now is some barbed wire to jump 😂
Really sounds terrific 🏍
Have great week Mike 👍

At the time the English motorcycles had that certain "Lightness of Being".
Now, see what you missed when you had your own real RGS roller? Certainly got top dollar on eBay but it's not difficult to round up the bits, shame you let such a gem get away. My buddy Steve shipped it to Scotland and I believe its been restored. Keep calm & ride a BSA.

sound is satisfying. performance adequate, now if we could just do something about advancing age...
When he said he likes to ride 'em, he wasn't kidding. : ) She started in one kick. Did he tickle the carb at all...or just kick it?
😃
Well I hope my A65 goes that well when I get it screwed together.
One of the nicest A10's around for sure. Technical question, you said it has 10.5:1 compression so how do you keep it from detonating? I've ridden many miles on an A10 but I could never successfully run anything higher than 7.5:1 compression with out having detonation problems.

Omg😲😎
How much compression must have a 1967 bsa thunderbolt 650 cc?
Ment to be riden
👍
Front brake is wrong
A nice original bike, unfortunately a RGS is an easy bike to forge with about 3,000 in the US alone.
Thanks Roy, yes I have heard the funny story that there are actually more RGS bikes on the road than were ever produced in the factory 😉. Thanks for your note. Cheers, Mike
Sounds just like the new Gold Star ,( not )
