I can’t stop raving about the beast 😅 I love how creepy and how ominous he is. His deep soothing voice and yet his dark design with barely any light is amazing. Episode 7 where we find out Auntie whispers is related to Adale is so good. And the entirety of episode 8 is gold. The Beats, the woodsman, the music, it’s so well made.

TRA LA LA LA LA
His voice is simply beautiful ❤
I love opera
Tim Curry’s career deserves more than to be remembered as “the guy from Home Alone 2”.

Communism was a red herring the whole time!
@@worthythaneofross3925 I see you tremble with antici-

Honestly though, for being the same age as them, I'm often amazed at the limit of some of their popular culture knowledge.
He takes any movie he’s in to the one place not yet soiled by capitalism… SPACE
Fan fact-
This episode is based on a tale named “Babes in the wood” about two children who get lost in the woods and dies under a tree, covering with autumn leaves. Very heartbreaking story.
Beatrice’s betrayal definitely broke Wirt, and there’s more Gravity Falls vibes with his beliefs after that backstabbing: “Trust No One”
This isnt the Odyssey, this is the Inferno
One might even call it ‘Dante’s Inferno’
Thinking about it, every episode of this show is full of parallels of things from “Dante’s Inferno”, there’re many articles/videos listing all the similarities that are too strong/frequent to be accidental (like how O’ Brother Where Art Thou is Homer’s Odyssey)
one might call it “Inferno”
They use the same story telling so it's both
@@ThePunkina1they really don’t. The oddest is an epic poem about a man cursed by hubris to wander for 10 years before the gods let him go home. The inferno is about a poet getting a guided tour of hell with all the hot hot hell gossip.
The amount of music in this show is amazing.... It makes the series really unique.
it's not like other shows don't have music. But the music in this one, goes so well with the style of the show and makes it work amazingly
Ever since seeing this episode in 2014, I've been saying "Ain't that just the way" and "It just goes to show you stuff" all the time alkjfdklaj. Greg has the best lines istg
Just so everyone knows, babes in the wood is a story where two children die while lost in the woods, and robins cover their corpses with leaves, this term is also used for real life child murder cases. So knowing that, the episdoe Babes in the wood gets a whole lot darker
"For whom the bell tolls" is actually part of a quote by John Donne, a poet. The main section it's taken from actually includes another quote most people are familiar with, despite having no idea where it comes from. It's actually a very powerful bit of prose:
"No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
I think I said this in another Over the Garden Wall post by you all, but Samuel Ramey (The Beast) is a famous opera singer. Just an amazing bass-baritone. The Queen of the Clouds is another opera singer, Deborah Voigt
the whole dream sequence is straight out of an old walt disney cartoon called Alice's wonderland 1920s as well as other shorts from that era and a bit of little nemo (not pixar)
Tim Curry isn't ONLY a movie actor, he also does alot of voice acting!
Agree with Suraj that this would be good to have on in the background of a Halloween party, and in fact I have the DVD and it includes a version with just the visuals and score, would be perfect background material.
WOAH! Really???
"The Ringing of the Bell" has to be one of my favourite episodes from this series- because of the creepy spirit.
Also, can't wait to see the finale reaction. Love the final 2 eps! :DDD
Literally my favourite mini series ever
Actually it’s more inspired by Dante’s Inferno
Maybe a bit, but it’s mostly inspired by older cartoons and themes from back then. This one explicitly references Babes in the Wood, Alice Comedies, etc.
@@ma.2089 they meant the whole show was based on Dante’s inferno, not this episode specifically. And it had been confirmed that dented inferno was a big inspiration for the story
There is an old story called "babes in the wood", if you read it you can get a little idea of what is happening here
Episode 8 left me wanting to watch the next so badly, I’m holding off until October 31st aka Halloween. Gotta get that true Over The Garden Wall feeling. 👻 🎃
Edit: can’t wait to watch you guys finish the series. The final two episodes are so well done.
You guys should react to infinity train, it’s an animated anthology series and it’s so good
YES, AGREED
Yess, it's honestly one of the best animated shows of this century no joke
YUP
they'd love the mystery vibes
@@aiwekano8593 second season was boring for me ngl
@@micah2887 are you serious, that shit slapped
“Oh no it’s the black” -Mickey 2021
I normally watch this show at least once a season, but so far I'm up to 2. This show is just SO good. The next two episodes are my favorite and I'm so BEYOND excited to see you guys react!
There is a theory that his wish was to go back in time. Since the beginning of the series, nothing much has surprised him, and he has done a lot of strange things that make more sense later on. Like throwing away the only money, they have so they can't go to the evil witch. It is almost like he knows what will happen. So it is possible that that entire dream sequence was a flashback to before the first episode. We are seeing his second time going through all of this.
Wait whaaaat, first time I've seen this theory but holy moly they're definitely onto something
23:40 “Don’t know if they’ll go death dark..”
Lol..oh buddy
The specific old cartoons ep 8 is homaging are the Alice Comedies shorts Disney & Iwerks made before they went on to make Oswald, and later Mickey.
The Ringing Of The Bell still haunts my nightmares to this day, and I was in my 20s when I saw it xD It’s an absolute masterpiece.
Ep7 has my favorite line that I think got missed. "We came here to burgle your turts!"
More like Dante's Inferno than Odyssey
This is officially added as an fall annual watch for me now, it's just so good ☁️🎃🐦🍂
“It’s Cartoon Network so I don’t know if they’d go *death* dark.”
So… so whose gonna tell them 😐
The ideas of loss of hope and death + the leaves placed on the kids (coincidentally the kids are friends with a blue bird) is a reference to Babes in the Wood. In this story, 2 kids are abandoned in the woods, sleep, and freeze to death/are killed and placed underneath a tree. Blue birds come and cover their body with leaves.
Whenever there’s real life events of kids dying in the woods, they’d call them babes in the wood
wirt was so happy and carefree last episode now he's just... depresso...
16:00 - EVERY story in Western Literature is a variation of The Odyssey. It's the Hero's Journey.
I think the bell is a reference to the bells bedridden plague victims would ring.
The how mini series is literally an allegory about death
It kinda could resemble depression but I dont think they intended it to be so "real"
I think it matches the tone of grim fairttales. It seems the beast needs people to be lost in every way. Like in tales when people forget who they were and forget all their hopes. It seems like the transition into a "lost soul"
Salvador Dali did do a cartoon…with Disney. Although I wouldn’t call it a children’s cartoon…..it’s called “Destino”
Salvador Dali has collaborated with Disney and there is a short called Destino that he was part of making. You can watch it on youtube
Im glad you watched these in two episode segments, i think it fits really well like that. I always watch it as a movie tho
Just so I can tell someone I'll tell the comments. The creator of over the garden wall took alot of inspiration from Dante's inferno and Dante's trials
I love your reactions. I can't wait for all you guys to react to the last two episodes. they're my favorites.
Discounting Adult Swim shows, anime, and Clone Wars, is this the first Cartoon Network show the Normies have reacted to?
Yeah, it's really nice. I wish we can get these every once in a while.
@@macuna1995 Blindwave is currently doing Teen Titans.
Ah! The next episode is my favorite!!! I hope it comes out soon!!!
When y’all posting that finale reaction?? It’s so good!
Damarin, I haven't addressed you directly as I have the other Normies yet, so this is exciting. You had me at the beginning; see, I ALSO got Spirited Away vibes from this episode, and I was waiting for someone else to bring it up
Spirited Away especially with the two witch sisters (one being "good" and the other being evil).
@@justinnaniong7872 Both are old and menacing. One forces others into servantry and the other ends up with a willing servant
the actual design of auntie whispers looks so much like the witches in spirited away. must be the big nose
excited for the last 2 eps!
I want y’all to show the title to the show. The Chapter reveal is beautiful
Lorna is voiced by Shannyn Sossamon.
I love this series.
Ain't that just the way
It just goes to show you stuff
Please watch the last two episodes on Halloween it’ll be perfect
cloud city is heaven.
Great reaction! The ending of episode 8 is quite dark!
my asmption as to why auntie didn't get rid of the spirit. is cause she might not fully know about how the bell worked. she might have feared that removing the spirit might also remove lorna's spirit. due to the fact the bell works on lorna, that lorna and the spirit might be tied.
auntie is old. she might not fully be able to move on from the past ways and is just doing the wrong thing with good intentions. She's a lonely old woman who was afraid of being left behind. doing what she thought was right to keep her family safe.
OTGW is back thanks normies
You guys have to go back to watching "You"season 3 it's freaking fantastic!!!!
It's Dante's Inferno in cartoon form.
I cannot wait for the final episodes
This is Dante’s inferno
Y'all should watch Infinity Train after this. Just as good
No. Over the Garden Wall is one of the best pieces of media I have ever seen. Infinity Train is at most a neat little series, but it isnt even close to bring as good.
you guys should watch infinity train
only 10 episodes per season, and its similar horror vibes
Put Damarin in all of your reactions

The new Opening for Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) has Spoilers somebody should tell them so they can edit it.
Please react to infinity train the CN show please👌
2eps left buckle your seatbelt
If you are disappointed that there is only one season, check out infinity train, it has 4 seasons but deserves 8
The reason there are so many iris shots is because it is paying homage to old cartoons from the 1930s.
I kinda got a *Terrytoon* and a *Fleischer cartoon* feeling from Greg's dream.
I do like the nooooooooo part
I could watch the fuck out of a show with just the two on the right, they have more depth of thought most of the time
Now that you’ve watched episode 7, go back to 4:26 of your first reaction video for some foreshadowing.
Is that a rakhi on Suraj's wrist?
I think it's less Odyssey and more Dante's Inferno
Dantes Inferno
Death isn't a reach at all it's a finger wiggle away like it being about death and the afterlife is surface level
Guys, they need to watch Steven Universe!!
React to "Vis A Vis" 🙏🏻
This show never shows up in my subs >:(
When are you going to react to jurassic world camp cretaceous?
