Got back to this one after half a year and as of writing this there are brown, black, blue and clear models, each with solid or transparent section and with nib choices of EF/F/M each for US$20. Ordered an EF black with solid section just a few moments ago because I wanted something to take in a plane and it looks so classy. Also it seems to be a very good and reliable writer from what I've heard people saying. Thanks for your reviews, Aaron! Very helpful.
I bought the pen and I never have to open that valve but I haven't had any really long writing sessions either. It wrote perfectly right out of the box and never hard starts.
Just yesterday arrived the 699 and my verdict is that is the best 'fake "F"' that I ever used, despite the fact that with my usual ink, the writing become too much wet.
Well done! Excellent review! I purchased one of these bad boys just last week and I thoroughly enjoy it. I was somewhat less impressed with the 456 but the 699 has really come through for me. Thanks for the excellent review and keep up the good work!
Thank you, Aaron. Excellent review as always. I have bought the Wing Sung 699 and agree with your verdict. It seems Wing Sung have quite a few Vac Filler pens in their range now. My only concern, watching you posting the pen, there might be stress on the cap the more you force the barrel into it, which could result in cracking. Not saying it's going to happen, just a concern.
Good review. You have a better nib than mine, wetter & softer. I wonder about early versions vs production versions. The pen is good but doesn't excite me as much as a 456 does.
Hi Aaron. I do enjoy your videos and really appreciated this one. Given your suggestion that the nib in the 699 might be a little bigger than a no.6 nib, do you think that a FPR ultra flex nib might fit in this pen? I noticed the little divot at the top of the nib through the transparent section, which is a feature of the FPR nibs also. I’ve experimented with the ultra flex nib in a jinhao pen and just couldn’t get it to fit. But if it fits into this 699 i might consider buying one to fit my extra FPR ultraflex. I love that nib. It would be great if you could find some time to try this and let your audience know if it works. Just a suggestion.
The jinhao 51a is a great fountain pen. You can get it for around $2 on aliexpress. Bobby pens has one with a customized nib for around $8.50 that I own that writes great.
I just got mine 2 days ago, but it's a bit different. it takes 2 turns to uncap it, and I can write continously without having to open the blind cap. is the 699 already in mass production? or are they still beta versions?
@@aaronspenvideos4420 while there are inconsistencies with chinese pen manufacturing, I doubt they'll screw up (hehe) that much to add several extra layers to the threads. could it be a knock off?
It has some descent weight and the barrel and section feel nice. The thickness of the barrel is very solid, but the cap seems a little thin. I definitely feel like the plastic overall is solid. The 823 feels heavier in the hand then the 699.
It is an odd nib size even though it is about a #6 nib. I have not tried any other nibs other than my nib out of my wingsung 626. You may check online and see if anyone else has tried any other nibs.
Hard to compare as my 823 is a medium and the 699 is labeled as a fine. The 699 to me writes a little wider than a Japanese fine would, but I dont think it is quite as wide as my 823.
Yes, please be specific, so we know not only the best, but also the worst. Was it scratchy nibs? Bad fitting parts? Mold marks? Leaking seals? Gold plating falling off, or what?
Finally someone did a comparison between the Wing Sung 699 and the 823. Thank you very much, Aaron.
Your welcome

Nice comparison with the 823. Thanks. Enjoyed it.

I have been waited about week for this this review. Thanks.

Nice review and comparison! Also, I you have really amazing hand writing.
Thank you

Thank you, and I'm glad you are enjoying your pen!
Talked me into it!
Just ordered mine.

I agree on the cap and this will not be a pen I will probably ever post unless absolutely have to. I'm glad you are enjoying your pen!
What I know is that the grip may broken if disassenble and reassenble it incorrectly

I was thinking about doing a comparison between the 456 and 699. I really enjoy my 456 and understand you liking it more.
I am still waiting for the piston filler edition
456 is better though its nib did't satisfied me.
Adding this to accidental ASMR lol

I will look, but I dont think it will fit. The 699 nib is actually a little smaller than your standard #6 nibs.
Oh ok thanks. I misunderstood.
Which is best fountain pen under 10 dollor on AliExpress in terms of nib and ergonomics

The 699 is in mass, but as Johan stated there maybe differences in the pen molds or inconsistencies.

How does the thickness and feel of the plastic compare with the 823?

Do you know what nibs fit into it? I tried with my Kanwrite #6 ones (which I think as as thick as Bock ones) and they didn't fit at all.

Nimosine #6 , jinhao #6 also fits this pen
how does the writing compare in terms of width to 823 ( is the 823 you have a fine too ?) . keep up the good work !

I've 2 of these vac fillers, on the recommendation of UA-cam 'experts' wetting their pants over them, and the 2 are the worse pens i've ever bought.
Thanks for the comment and I'm sorry that you do not enjoy your pens. What issues were you having with the pens?
Yes, please be specific, so we know not only the best, but also the worst. Was it scratchy nibs? Bad fitting parts? Mold marks? Leaking seals? Gold plating falling off, or what?
