There are no department stores in that area! You have to drive to Pensacola. Even the Santa Rosa Mall down in Mary Esther closed and that was sketchy at best.
Thank you for your input. It's worth noting that Crestview offers a variety of shopping options, including Beals and Marshalls. While the Santa Rosa mall has experienced closures, there are still several department stores available. Additionally, the proximity to TJ Maxx, Burlington, Marshall, Ross, Kohl's, Belk, Silver Sands Outlet Mall in Miramar, and Destin Commons provides convenient alternatives. Crestview's appeal lies in its affordability, although it may require a bit of travel for extensive shopping. Your insights into the local trade-offs are valuable, and I appreciate your perspective.
Having lived in Crestview about 56 years of my 66 years, I can attest that most of what they say is true, but would like to clarify some of the information, and add a little additional info. There is definitely a concerning traffic situation because of the only one major state road that runs north and south through Crestview. Unfortunately city officials through the years didn’t anticipate the population increases to the level they are today and appropriately plan for the accommodating infrastructure. But the construction of a city bypass is now underway, and completion is estimated I believe to be early 2025 or ‘26. This should relieve some of the congestion through town. As mentioned, the summer heat can be brutal at times. You can expect your electric bill to increase significantly during the summer months from running your air conditioner continuously. But you will make up for those higher costs in the moderate fall and winter months, sometimes being able to actually turn off your HVAC system and opening your windows. Hurricane season (1 Jun-31 Dec) is always reason for storm preparedness, however Crestview is far enough inland to where there is not too much cause for concern unless there are really extreme winds associated with the storm. I can remember only evacuating once in my 55 years living here, and even then the path shifted and we were able to turn around and come right back home. For grocery shopping, they failed to mention that Pic n’Save is another option, and an ALDIs grocery store has recently been added. As far as housing, there is always new construction of new subdivisions underway. There are also options for buying property and custom building. The schools are generally rated high among state’s schools, however there is only one high school and it is overcrowded. Not aware of any plans to add another high school currently. In general, Crestview is still a great place to live and raise a family.
This is an outstanding response @ctfair, I appreciate it! And you are right, we completely forgot about the Aldi's! We will fix that in a future video. Crestview is a heck of a place to live, the "bang for your buck" plus everything it offers makes it a solid option for so many folks moving to the emerald coast.
Bypass, lol. What bypass sends you into town before bypassing the cause of the backup. In no way is this so called bypass going to alleviate traffic of Hwy 85. You’ll still be sitting it traffic at Duke Field at 4:00, actually closer to 3:00. I will say that this is more of a state and county issue as the city doesn’t own the property south of the Shoal River so they have their hands tied there. However our city manager is possibly the worst city manager in the country. He’s promoted building 1000s of houses and numerous apartment buildings with no plan for the traffic. And our city council look like one of those dumb dogs you use to see in the back windows of cars. Their heads only move one direction, which is up and down while agreeing with anything the city manager says.
Our goal is to be as transparent as possible, If someone uses us to purchase a home, and we didn't give them accurate advice and they choose an area based on that advice, then they will be upset with us for misleading them and I'm not about that life 😆
I would stay away from DR horton homes..there's a reason they finance for less than banks. They hire subpar contractors. Hvac issues, plumbing, electrical. 3,000sqft home with 1 return for a 4 ton hvac unit👌🤣. They rarely hire quality local contractors. The workers don't live in the area, they are housed in hotel rooms in the area. They are a large company that builds cardboard box houses. Avoid them!!

Winters are awesome. From October through April the weather is magnificent. Cool, less humid.
