👍🏾444. Practically the same type I changed on my previous '98 Avensis Mk1 many years ago. Very easy and fast to replace. I did a friends Mk2 Prius front hub bearing and that was hard to remove due to galvanic corrosion. I had the take the hub assembly to a friends garage to separate the bearing. Later I did the other side and was prepared. It took 6/7 huge impacts with a heavy sledgehammer to separate the bearing from the hub. I have done most other types of wheel bearings like tapered, press in and the Renault Grand Scenic disc/bearing combo. I am a home DIY mechanic and have the wheel bearing removal kit, plus a 10 ton press. The wheel bearing kit is great as I can work on location. The press is made redundant. I like your humour and great video.
I remember changing the shoes on my Datsun Blubird180B, the step was at least 1mm, machined it out at work :) Had to beat the washers with a hammer untill they looked like the replacement kit that arrived a few days later after I had pulled it all apart the hard way !
Indeed. The MK2/MK2.5 Focus only came with all round disc brakes in hatchback form in Ghia or Titanium trim levels. Zetec and below got drum brakes, although it does make for some awesome handbrake turns! 🤣
A neighbour of mine has just got a new Audi Q4 E-tron (horrid thing) It’s got sodding great drums on the back! EVs are gentle on their brakes, discs may seize up through lack of use, drums are a bit more resilient to this.
@@FatHead1979Whats interesting is that all Focus models for the German market always had disc brakes all round since the 99 model year. Wonder why they fitted the UK models with drums, they all came off the same line in Saarlouis didn't they?
@@johnb3141 That's not actually corect mate, drum brakes were still fitted on Zetec trim and lower trims all the way through until the MK3 Focus. And Ford been the penny pinching @rsehats that they are, CONTINUED fitting rear drums on Zetec and lower trims for the MK3 Focus.
@@johnb3141 Because you said that your 2006 Mk2 Focus must have been one of the last MK2s to have rear drum brakes, when Ford actually carried on fitting rear drums on certain trim levels for the rest of the Mk2 production run and the MK3s.
Cold UK weather! Its still 32+ degC in The Philippines. You have a choice, shivering in Blighty or sweating in Mindanao. Glad you got back home safely Alan. All the best from Hong Kong.
Just finished replacing rear hub and spindle of a 2003 Ford Focus, which is similar to the video. Be sure to remove the smallest of the springs on your brakes so you can loosen the brake shoes (put spring back on of course).. The old hub has been worn down and the brakes self-tighten as that happens. If you don't do this step, your car is likely to get really bad mileage and handle poorly... just like you have a brake part way on.
Hello. What is the reason why aluminum wheels often do not have a flat surface on the back. think of the part that has contact with the hub! is it to make it easier for the factory so they don't have to make this surface completely straight
With the ford centre caps take the metal spring ring out of them and stretch them out then stick them back in the plastic tabs and that will stop them rattling about.
Alan do what I’ve done to sons 1.6 and upgrade to rear dise and calipers. All just bolt on . From the 2.0. Also a lot less Ruston that then son 2008. Just had to renew rear suspension most bolts got cut of.

Nice to see Ford used proper wheel nuts instead of the crappy ones they use now!
There's no difference you could still get the mk2 with chrome caps ?
I have a 19.5 mm socket just for that😂

Does this transit have the wet timing belt? If so, maybe you could make a vidoe on that?

How much was that Alan ?
Can you remove and bend the circular wire part wider on the hub cap to make it tighter?
