  • This Place Is Wild! Missouri Mines State Historic Park Shares History With Lead Mining
Did you know that Missouri once led the market in lead production? A quick visit to this state historic park will explain how this location once was the bustling center of economic growth but now sits abandoned for the most part. The tunnels filled with water but the adventure above ground is still unique.

There is video on UA-cam called A Story of Lead (1948) which shows underground footage of this mine in operation.

Happy Sunday Bunny. I feel like I should get a tablet and pen to take notes, I'm one of those nerds who enjoyed school. You're an excellent teacher and we all learn so much from you. I love your videos ❤

Lol I’m super glad that I’m able to share these little brain wrinkles with everyone and people are so excited about learning. There are so many things out there that are incredible yet so frequently not spoken about because there are larger topics that others have deemed more important. I think places like this tell us a lot though and so I’m so glad that I can share them.

I wanted to go here but it was closed when I was in the area. Even if I didn't get to see it with my own eyes, I still enjoyed it through yours!

I’m glad that I could share it with you! There’s been a lot of places that I have missed because I’ve either not gotten there early enough or didn’t reserve a spot and so when I see them online, it just makes me excited to see them later on in person, however I know sometimes it’s harder to get to those places so it may take a while. I’m glad that I can share this with you. At least you could get a glimpse inside.

So many great brain wrinkles! I love being able to find places like this that are not necessarily the most explored by people on UA-cam, but need to be more explored by everyone on UA-cam! They have such a great story behind though

Most of them are flooded and the ones that are not have been deemed not safe, but they do have another place in Missouri that I will return to the uses the flooded tunnels

Lol I clicked this, because this is my hometown, and less than a 10min walk from my house I can't tell you how many times me and my friends used to visit here as kids. Our school even took a field trip here once, and they had a rock and gem trade going on in that museum, and got to take a legitimate tour of the place. It's Soo neat. It's also dangerous in some places, or at least used to be. Alot of the places around the facility had sinkholes, and quicksand pits because of the flooding and collapses that occurred underground. I'm not sure if that's still the case, but it was A common warning around town growing uplol.
Awesome video chick! It's awesome to see someone bring attention to our little historic town. If I can make a suggestion for another video, would be to visit the Bonne Terre mine. It's a town close by to park hills. It was another huge lead mine, BUT it flooded really bad, and is now home to the billion gallon lake. The entire town basically sits on top of an underground lake now. They do tours and it's really neat to see. Alot of the equipment is still left where the workers dropped it when they had to evacuate. Fun fact, it's Soo massive, the Red Bull team visited here and brought ramps and jet skis and boards underground and did a whole like, Xgames type set down there. Which you can also find the video of that on UA-cam as well.
    Anyways, keep it up!

Whatever I went through that area, I did not get to do Bonnie terre but I do have it on my list to return there. I’m super excited to check it out. One of my friends even got their scuba diving certification going there.
