Just trying to get one bolt off!). good stuff. keep it up.

'you can put Loctite on the oil filter if you hate the person'. When I was working at a dealership, we had a mechanic put in his two weeks, then for the next two weeks he 'confused' red loctite and anti-seize. And he put it on EVERYTHING. Oil plugs, brake calipers, header bolts, etc.

Exactly. That thing's rough. It's usually better to start with a clean canvas. There's a guy in my area with a clapped-out Nissan 300ZX he imported from Japan. Broken suspension, messed up alignment, scraping the ground, rough paint. If he didn't have to have right hand drive he could have bought a very nice 300ZX here. Or, if he'd saved a little more money, he could have had a nice RHD 300ZX.
@Tummymunster i usually just kinda twist it a little after taking all the bolts off. That or you can gently use a deadblow on the pan itself- even running a razor blade in between the pan and block (very gently). Aluminum is much softer than steel, meaning striking it with steel tools can dent or scar the surface. Even using a razor to take off old RTV can score the block and make it a nightmare to seal.
As a detailer, I love that Tristan whipped out the Tornador for the engine bay. As someone who wants to live, please use a mask when spraying chemicals with a Tornador 🙏
Take your intake off, have someone turn the key to on and hold the gas pedal down to open the throttle plate. Use some brake cleaner or whatever you want to clean out the throttle body. Might solve your dying at idle issue
this, and clean or replace the air flow sensor which is probably caked from that shit air filter and cracked intake box. It needs to sit and idle for over 20 minutes to map the air fuel mixtures after a few fuel pump prime sequences to calibrate the throttle position sensor.

As someone who did spark plugs on a 3.6R outback Subaru, I can tell you they made a 30 min spark plug job turn into an 8 hour knuckle buster.
