One key on the Vitamix. DON'T overuse the tamper! You need the vortex action! As SOON as the mix starts to move, GET THE TAMPER OUT! Many people leave the tamper in and mix it around. The tamper hinders the vortex action! Also the tamper that comes with your Vitamix has a stop. It will never hit the blades unless you put body weight down on the lid so that is flexes downward. Nobody is going to do that anyway, so moot point.

Excellent comparison for making soups and ice cream. Swaying toward buying the Blendtec. The Vitamix has a tamper, just in case it is needed and the Blendtec does not require it. Tells me there is a design flaw with the Vitamix.

I bought an oster versa. Its as powerful as the vitamix. Works the same. I like the dial and program keys on my oster better. Its a third if the price as well.
