OP's dad is under no moral or legal obligation to take some rando's kid he doesn't have custody of ANYWHERE. Many lawyers would advise against it and NO judge would enforce that.

Story 1: This is why the phrase “Don’t piss off the people who handle your food.” exists.
My forest restaurant, a customer overheard another customer say “let’s see how much free food we can get” and making sure 5 people were within earshot to be able to tell them that “no, that’s actually what you ordered” was soooo satisfying
those people do NOT deserve that

Story 1: Uggh, large groups like this table of 14 are just horrible, and a big reason why restaurat put auto-gratuities on their final bills. People like this only go out to intentionally cause problems and try and get free food.... and yes, that customer 100% is a liar... and the whole thing with the budgeting list was just pathetic and proves what their intents were. The moment "tank-top guy" started to follow the OP around, they shouldve called either security or police on this guy... because he sounded both crazy and dangerous. Hopefully this group got banned for this.
Story 2: No way is the OP a jerk here and i feel bad for both the OP and the step-brother here. It really doesn't sound like the OP dislikes the step-brother overall here, at least from what i can tell here.... it sounds like he doesn't like the mother here (and i can see why) and the fact that her and her new husband are trying to force relationships with the new family and siblings, and that's always wrong. This whole birthday thing really wasnt any of the step-brothers business and he really has no reason to be around the OP's dad at all. The step-brother being upset about being excluded falls 100% on the mom's shoulders here, and i can see the OP going no contact once he is of legal age.
Story 3: OP and the wife need to tell this greedy aunt to screw off, and soon. The OP has every right to that house, especially since they have done so much for the house and the MIL after her stroke. Its pretty clear the aunt just wants money from a potential sale of the house and doesnt care about the MIL at all. OP may want to lawyer up and have paper records of everything. Otherwise, this could get ugly.
Story 4: Okay, why is the OP even in contact with the mom here? Its pretty obvious that the mom favors the other sibling here. At least the OP knows how to try and do things better for themselves and their children.
Story 5: OP is not a jerk at all, and has no reason at all to feel bad here. More proof on why family traditions are just weird and dumb. If you want to follow it, then fine but if not, why is it that big of an issue to people that arent the parents? OP had every right to return all the gifts.... especially when the family had "Agatha" instead of "Indie" on them. If they cant accept what you named your child, then cut all of them out, because this will only get worse as the child grows up.
Story 6: Yeah, bosses like this are absolutely awful... and they wonder why they have a hard time keeping workers. I kow i wouldve done that exact same thing... especially when the boss told you to sit down too.
*Story 1:* Talk about crazy customers! If you want a free meal, make your own meal. Don't go pestering servers at a restaurant you're going to eat at. Chasing the server around the restaurant just because you don't like how your food turns out to be? That's so not okay behaviour.
Story with the rent to own situation, the question isn't just is the aunt a jerk, hits are you a jerk to your sister-in-law. Because if you're paying rent to own. You pay $2,000 a month, until your mother-in-law dies. Then by your sister-in-law out of the remaining balance. Your math is wrong, and you're cheating your sister-in-law out of $1,000 a month for the rest of your mother-in-law's life. The house should be split between the siblings 50/50 & buying your sister-in-law out, years later. Isn't fair, to her. But it says you a bunch of money. And rent-to-own doesn't put 100% of the rent, to the purchase.
What has the sister in law done for the mom? For the house?
