Having come up during the Golden Age of Hip-Hop, it's an honor and privilege to experience this doc! I never even met him and I teared up right with him. Y'all just don't know - Shante, Biz, Shan, and many others, were as familiar in the Black household as fried chicken and floor model tvs. When he said "I Pioneered This" he did. NOT. LIE. 👏🏽
Had to pause the video at minute 7. Needed to comment and say thank you. Thank you for creating this. It's amazing to see him in his life. He needs to have his own show!!
I live near Shan and see him often in the neighborhood, a real authentic dude that will give you the shirt off his back. Great peace and i'm glad he's being celebrated.
I didn't expect this to be as raw and emotional as it was, but I love that this is what we got. Peace and thank you to the legendary MC Shan for laying it all out there, and definitely to Rock the Bells for putting this together in the first place. For the culture!
Being authenticity candid, M.C Shan was able to separate M.C Shan from to his real self True Happiness does not come money💰, fame or notoriety, BUT the love of his family which is precious commodity #mcshan
I think he just inadvertently told rappers they were slaves to their way of life but he is free as can be and his name is still spoken over 36 years later. Half of these new rappers are forgotten two weeks after they get shot! That makes this interview even better lol
Talking about your love ones in being emotional is not weak when they have passed on it is beautiful and keeping their memory alive may they Rest In Peace.
Excellent piece on the legend M.C. Shan!!! One of the best to ever do it!!! Thank you Rock the Bells team for bringing this to fruition!!! Still my favorite emcee!!! Family first!!! Salute Shan!!!👑💪🏾✊🏾
Shan may not be everybody's best M.C ever, but he's the realest M.C ever!, and the most hated on M.C ever.. Shan helped pioneer a certain element of hip hop and M.C careers! That brother deserve better respect from the Hip Hop Community!!!
This is very nice and there ain't no shame in shedding tears I know what that feels like you have a very joyful, uplifting and positive spirit Shan cos even in the darkness that light will shine bright 🙌💯🤙
So happy to see MC Shan doing well ...I used to go to the Latin Quarter and Roseland ball room in the mid to late 1980's I was 20 something early 20's and when it was no show going on Latin Quarter would let you be on the stage curtain down but I remember Shan was on there in the corner near me with this fine Spanish Chic and when he stepped off for a second I tried to holla at her 😅 ..but he came back to soon ...them times where great...We see Kane Biz Eric B Rakim Dana Dane ...Justice DMX all of them on the regular and we didn't go star crazy because we thought we was just as cool as them! 😎 My both spots was popping on a Saturday night Roseland kept Stetas sonic preforming or The R&B singer Shannon "Let the music play" some of the best times of my life ....🙏🏾☝🏽 For The Incredible Biz Marlie! 🥲
Brother, I seriously tell everybody that the Golden Era of hip hop started in '85/'86 . I was 15/16 years old and as a teenager we was up in them same spots you just mentioned... straight chillin. If you knew the artist that was performing you took a Deuce-style flick, let them hit your blunt, maybe took a swig o Ol English or Private Stock and went back to your hood. The next week you was bragging about how the artist and your crew was chillin at the spot where you went to see them perform. I miss those days that you mentioned fam. Salute to you for still being here past the age of 55 'cause a lot of us ain't here fam.💪🏾✊🏾
Glad the grill been upgraded, bruh bruh... was definitely needed to allow you enjoy life that much more. Little things. Even the yung'un knew that was needed.
Shan living in Douglasville Georgia! I'm glad you're doing good and enjoying life. Next time you out In Atlanta since I live here too , Let's have a drink for Everything you're done for hip hop! Much respect! - DJ Juuice.
Yo Shan, feeling the heartbreak of your children leaving this world before you and shedding tears for them is not weakness at all. It takes a real man to not hide their true feelings. Much respect to you.

I grew up listening to 80's and 90's Hip Hop music. I remember those battle records between Shan and KRS-1, they were epic! . It seems so long ago nowadays. This video really touched me.
FASCINATING! Shan a real one for putting this out. For the first time, made me realize that Shan might've been the pioneer of that wild child energy that we ended up getting with ODB, DMX and others. JayQuan from The Foundation (on UA-cam) hinted at this years ago and now I really see what he means.
