I used to watch you and your daughter all the time on PBS. She's probably in her 30's now. Time flies, have fun! I love watermelon and will definitely make this in the summertime!
I've had watermelon agua, but never with lime. Although I have put lemon juice on watermelon wedges itself with a dash of salt and chili powder. This was before Tajin was inventented. Lol. Delicious! You just gave me an idea of mixing watermelon with a can of pineapple. I bet that would taste like tropical heaven!!
I absolutely love agua fresca de sandia! However my all time favorite is pepino. I use this exact same recipe too. So easy to make and so satisfying. Thanks Rick!
Most agua fresca in Mexico is made with well water thats boiled and mixed with pure caine suger for it's unique taste. That's how my grandparents made it for many years before they pasted away. Its hands down the best way to enjoy.
During the summer, I put watermelon in my blender, then put it right in the ice cream maker. It was absolutely delicious, no sugar added or even necessary.
@ exactly. Maybe the lemon and lime require some to cut the sour. But sugar is not a thirst quenching thing nor good for hydration. A little cucumber and mint also makes a great addition
@ I actually don’t drink liquor. I eat only carnivorous with salt and water. But I still raise a garden for other people and I love watching cooking videos and cooking for others
If you omit the sugar, you can add lime juice accordingly. Same outcome, No extra processed sugar. That's what some sugar addicted folk refuse to embrace. I mean...why would one have to add sugar to a ripe watermelon? "Oh...we added too much acid." 😅 Whatever, homie...
If you watch closely, he dilutes the blended watermelon with water, water naturally doesn't have sugar, the sugar helps with that. As Rick said and as we do in Mexico, aguas frescas aren't fruit smoothies, they are basically fruit flavored water, thus the added sugar. There's also the fact that you usually serve this on ice, further diluting it, thus the need for sugar

Looks good. I put tajin on the rim of the glass and love it.
Can't go wrong with those simple ingredients.
Another traditional recipe --- go rick !

Looks refreshing and I will try. Thank you.
Delicious. I usually add a cucumber to my watermelon aguas frescas. Other melons make great drinks too (honeydew, cantaloupe, etc.).

Looks fantastic and refreshing!!
I will definitely try this!!
Love it!
Watermelon Agua Fresca looks really cold and refreshing
thanks for exciting drink.🧋🥛☕
perfdct timing for thanksgiving!
Watermelon is my favorite fruit so I know I'll love this
Watermelon is my favorite too.
With the watermelons I grow I could make 3 different color watermelon juices, red, orange, and bright yellow.
5:02 - Using the mixing spoon to waterfall some of the beverage into the other spoon so he's not double dipping. Smort.
Thank you for sharing! 🍉🍋🟩
I would LOVE to see how to make the limonada you serve at Xoco
Damn it Rick. I went to the grocery store already 2 days ago.
Now I have to go back for watermelons. And limes.
Maybe a pineapple too.
Might be better to use a cold press juicer if not drinking it all the same day. I find the blender oxidizes the juice quicker.
Look at the color of that watermelon. Where can I get that? Half the time here in Phoenix not as bright red as this.
I'm trying this
Dear UA-cam AI auto subtitles, what is a "Candlelope" ???
Now add the tequila
🍉
Salud!

Lol, I did this all summer long. Skipped the sugar and strained it. Then took what was left n froze it.
Seedless? IDK. I'd rather do the work to take out the seeds than eat GMO food. IMO. Great Video
Who else wanted Rick to pull out a bottle of tequila and add it to the Agua Fresca? 😏
Adding sugar to that is insane
Agua frescas are made with sugar, he's making agua frescas....
Rick, we don't get watermelons in November.
In California you can still get watermelon but it's the last of it, was doing watermelon Agua Fresca all summer long.
i keep the sugar out , fruits are already sweet
I always try to remove the foam. Am I the only one?
Can you spike this with some blanco tequila?
I prefer horchata.
I’d add a little salt.
🍉 💦
Doesn’t need sugar, just add lime and let it sit overnight! Hibiscus tea would be best
I cringe at all of the sugar. But skip the sugar and add liquor and we’re in business. 😂😂😂
Never drink anything other than water then. Sugar is in every damn thing you drink

Yeah the watermelon should be sweet enough

By definition agua frescas have sugar, he's making an agua fresca. Do you not get that?
No tequila?
