Hello, we are RBM Outdoors. Very nice review, thank you very much!
A note about why the pipe is placed at the front and not at the back side of the stove. This is the intentional design which accounts several factors. One of the main factors is the stability of the pipe which is also a matter of safety. For that, a stove jack has to be situated on the roof as high as possible, also in order to reduce the wind impact on the outer side of the chimney. Since the roof has inclined shape, the stove jack has to be situated as much closer to the center as possible as well, but not at the roof center though. In case of the chimney at the back of the stove, it would become less stable. And shifting the stove to the center in such a case would also steal a lot of living space. So for the better stability of the construction and for providing maximum living space, the pipe is placed at the front side of the stove if the stove is placed perpendicularly to the wall. This solution also provides more heat income from the pipe to warm up the tent. And it’s not a big deal to have an access to the top surface of the stove for cooking even having the pipe in a front position. On the other hand, if you place the stove in side by side position at the tent wall, as the customers also often do, the location of the pipe on the stove doesn’t matter at all. So as said the pipe at the front side of the stove is the thought out design that takes into account multiple factors. This is a tent stove after all, not a stuff in the home kitchen.
As for the possible decoration on the windows, well it looks nice but makes the stove a bit heavier. But we’ll think of it. 🙂

Thank you for stopping by! We hope to be using the tent with stove very soon and can’t wait to see how they work together. We will be showing the temp difference (outside and inside), cooking and just general use on that trip. Tent initial thoughts video is done and will be coming out this week- now it’s time to get out in the field and use it.

Well I didnt expect a response from the manufacturer of the stove and for that I am certainly grateful. You make a lot of sense and after hearing that I guess I can agree with you. My thought to the original poster of this was possibly setting it sideways in the tent and then there would not be a problem. I really do appreciate the response and I will certainly reconsider my original thought of not buying this for that reason. Thank you again!!

I like most of the stove but I don’t like at all that the chimney is in the front and not the back. Trying to cook on that you will always be working around a very hot stovepipe. I think that is a poor design. I wouldn’t buy it for that reason.

Funny you say that as that is a concern for us as well. We will see how that gets in the way our first time or two using it, so far that is really our only concern for the same reason.

I really like the stove other than that. Maybe if you put it in the tent sideways it might not be so bad. Well I hope it works out well for you, I will be watching to see how it works out.

I fully agree with you The stove wipe should be in the back

@@gregoryschnatter3561 We are thinking the same thing, we are also thinking this stove may go sideways in the tent and maybe then it won't be an issue at all. Once we get out and use it we will see how it works out, we think we will like it either way as it seems to be a very well built stove and should do a good job of heating up the tent.
