This lake could be phenomenal if Minnesota power wouldn't drain the water levels every spring. The bait fish need high water levels to spawn. They need to get into the previous years grass to spawn. With low water they can't. That's why this lake has so many cigar size walleye. Fish lake right around the corner has way better fishing simply because it's never low in the spring. Island is deep enough to have a deep water prey fish to accelerate fish growth. But people are content with the quality of fishery it is (which in my mind is not very good).
