Where Louise talks about the trickiness of demotions and the knock-on effect this can have on how someone’s seen within the company and their “personal brand”. I wonder whether we stay in positions where we’re ultimately unhappy due to the fear of how it makes us look to others rather than going for what is best for us in our lives and our circumstances. I actively requested a demotion from a managerial role that I was headhunted for due to the hours I had to work and the effect the stress levels had on my personal life. I’m glad I didn’t care what that will look like on my CV, or my LinkedIn profile or whether people speculate as to why there was a change to my position. There is more to life than compromising yourself to uphold your “personal brand” and image
