And all the Harley boys like myself were jealous of the simplicity of this job. We got to drain the trans and remove the cover. Then screwing the cover back onto the cable takes 20 minutes fiddling with the cockeyed threads.
Good to hear the sound of that Tiger again.
Agreed, but you can probably get the part for the Harley. Compared to the Six-month backorder on the Triumph.

I have to remove mufflers to change clutch cable. yes harley clutch cable replacement suck.

It is a very difficult challenge, telling a story without talking. You should try it, think you will be surprised how hard it is?

It's a shame you couldn't get the proper cable while traveling and were forced to deal with that clutch cable hassle on a regular basis. I was glad to see the proper repair once you were home. It'll be great not having that recurring pain. I'm already looking forward to your big adventure next year, when you are repairing a broken throttle cable every couple of weeks. :-/ :-o
cable woes were really a breeze after the first 4 repairs :)
On my 3rd clutch cable on the klr. Found out after the first break, there's this thing called cable lube. Who'd have thunk. After your vid on cable repair, bought a kit but was disappointed with the cable thickness. Definitely good to have in case of emergency though.
Nomad, They make cable luber's. It's a tool you slip over the end of the cable and shoot whatever snake oil you'd like down the housing the keep the cable moving freely. I oil my clutch cable every 1k miles. I also lubricate the pin holding the clutch lever in place. Like an old timer told me, if you love it lube it.
there remains a good bit of controversy on cable lube - whether it adds life or removes it, especially on dirty bikes
@@MotoGiant - I like RemOil. It's a light solvent/lubricant typically used on firearms, similar in function to WD-40 but it doesn't oxidize to form a yellow gummy goo, and it leaves a dry film of Teflon. It may be the only good product Remington makes. :-) Some of the commercial cable lube is probably similar? In dirty applications like dusty off road riding, I'd over lubricate the cable from the top while working the clutch to flush dirt out of the cable housing at the bottom. But yes, in general, oil plus grit equals abrasive lapping compound. The air filter on my old VWs were a big air box with half an inch of used motor oil in the bottom. Intake air would hit the surface of the oil and the suspended dust and grit would stick to the oil. It's amazing how much thick gritty paste would accumulate on the bottom of the air filter tank.

I have to replace my clutch cable next week. I don't know if it will be ASMR though 😂
You should try it - I find the "no talking" story approach very challenging

Nope, not any more - fresh new cable! The rest of the time were repairs not replacement
