Matthews/Atlas Alessandra Ceiling Fan

Matthews/Atlas Alessandra 56" ceiling fan in matte black with gray ash blades. This fan was featured in my most recent Product Spotlight video, be sure to watch that one for all of the in-depth details. This one is a really solid intro for the Atlas brand, a great mid-price value product with all the great details and customization that Atlas offers. As you'll see in this video, the only real drawback I'm finding is in the speed range. Of course I always want a slower low speed, but that aside, the three higher speeds are all very similar. I'm not really holding that against them for the time being, because this is really their first venture into next gen DC products. As always with this stuff, there's a bit of an adjustment grace period required while the individual line gets things dialed in. We'll wait and see how the next upcoming products evolve in that regard. Of course Alessandra offers the wide range of popular Matthews finishes, and also features some of their stunning faux wood tones. These finishes are stunning on their own, but they also pair seamlessly with the real wood finishes in the Atlas product line. So you could do something like the Nan in your great room, and coordinate it with an Alessandra for your adjacent outdoor patio for a little bit of variety, while still keeping a concise finish palette. Atlas is really building the fan line out in the right way, sticking to the core values they've always held, but expanding the scope of possibilities for the products and potential customers.

Brilliant video as always! I absolutely love the new DC line they’re branching out into. I agree, differences between speeds, and a slower low would be nice, but I do think that’ll come as more fans in the next generation line come out. I love how it functions just like an AC motor fan would.

Thank you for this review. Would you say the blades lean toward a more tan (warm gray) or cool gray color?

I would say this blade finish is on the warmer side, their barn wood finish leans more cool-gray. This gray ash could really kind of flex either way, I think, if your coordinating finishes are also in a midrange. Obviously it's not straight up gray, but there are some nice cool taupe-y undertones in it.
