- In today's LEGO city update, we start working on our new harbor and train yard. The train yard has been missing from the city for the last couple of years due to space constraints, so I'm excited to be able to bring it back into the city. This area is far from complete, but I think it's coming along nicely!

Would be great if you buy two of the new Lego City harbor sets and combine the ships together to create a big container ship! Besides, you would already have two cranes to put on top of the docks!

Would be fun to expand the layout below the table top. Do underwater scenes of sunken ships and minifigs diving for treasure
Yes he may do a deep sea deep under warter Sean under the city I have started one under my sea .and it's dope cas. It make it look more realistic. Only problem is if. He got. Table Leg s under the table in the way .blocking the arear .

I think your road plates work well with the industrial look of the harbor and train yard.
Yes .I not a fan of the new road base plate s. But thay are great for industrial. Drive way s an arear s .I got some I have yoused. For some spot s in my city yoused them for parth s an drive in arear rest my roads are the other old road plate s 😊

Maybe a crazy idea.. but I am from the Netherlands. We have to deal a lot with water. We have these natural dams called "dijken". Maybe you can raise the train track on the whole front do the same heigth as the train yard. I bet that would look cool. Also you can look for bike lane ideas. We have quite a few of them here😉
You should expand the beach. It looks small now compared to the cove!.

Based on your water action scene idea, you could have the Coast Guard chasing someone.

Brilliant idea to use the road plate . Looks just like a yard to me. Better to use what you have if you can than buy more and have a bunch of stuff sitting round . Tfs
The friends boat should have a scene in the dock of people loading party stuff. Balloons a cake can add a lot of fun colors

You should make one of those jut out piers into a coastguard hq, with the office at the end, the different boats around it, the jeep out back etc, that would help populate some of the boat yard without significant development or investment
Maybe tied into the action scenes with a helicopter rescue off shore from a stranded vessel?
Road plates in the harbor make sense as it's obvious trucks, forklifts drive around. Don't forget the train stopper at the end of the track.
You could use tires as bumpers on the sides of the docks for the boats and build stops for the end of the tracks in the train yard.
Before you continue with that rockwork by the beach, I hope you will consider expanding the beach by making it longer/ having more sand section in between the fishing store and the beach boardwalk, by moving the fishing store over, locating it where the rockwork has started. More space for volleyball, sand castle building, etc. is preferable, I think.
The train yard and harbor look great, basically an industrial area.
Maybe you could add a factory (maybe a Lego brick factory), and shipping containers
Metrosheving/racks on wheels. And then just stack drawers on these in your temp build area . Development looking good so far.
Really like the road plates for boat yard seems more industrial
Loving the updates...2 suggestions I have move the bait shop back a bit and add more beach in front. Also you could expand the zoo forward up to the train tracks instead of another road.
A little Theodore tugboat MOC for the harbour would be rad!
I think it would be cool if you eventually put a fence around the boat yard and train yard and add that realism!
In the canal and the harber you should have a layer or a little bit of darker Grey to represent like the tide changing or the water level changing.

Amazing job in the boatyard + train yard. I love everything. I was thinking about the city area facing the sea. What if you take inspo from those pretty seaside cities like Santa Barbara or Santa Monica in the US, or even Cannes in France. They have cute boardwalks, but also the businesses are more related to a seaside. So you can have the grand hotel facing the seaside like in Cannes, restaurants buildings if you have and so forth. Then adding a lot of palms and maybe the roads are even permanently closed from traffic and become a pedestrian Sunday market on the street. Just to add smt different. There are so many roads in the city now
You should def have the lighthouse at the end of the rocky cove! Would look realistic and blend well. I am looking forward to seeing all the details. It's sometimes hard to get a true picture without all these things!
you could do some moldy green on the seawall and some dark gray greeble work on it as well but the boatyard is starting to look awesome

And I really thought they were getting swept. Oilers have all the momentum now, it's their cup to lose.
You should put like a warehouse in that empty space in front of the train garage with some cars and trucks driving in and out with cargo, that would make the area more industrial and accurate

You should get the new Lego delivery truck set and have it driving away from the harbor and towards the Lego store so it looks like a new shipment of sets has come in. I’m enjoying the progress!
Rail fan here, make sure you add a siding somewhere in the rail yard so if an engine need to be on the other side of the train cars the engine can use the sinding to go around and get on the other side of the cars
Also you are using right switches for your yard use left switches and have the straight part of the switch connect to the next switch it will make a stright line with parking lines coming off it
It will save space look cleaner and look more realistic

For the water near the old fish market you need the old port like with only old boat or even like a pirate boat is on show to visit
It's looking amazing! That mountain range is gonna need to be BIG. It will definitely pull the whole diorama together. It would be insane if you could put the ski slope/resort ON the mountain range, for height. Bravo, love following along!

you should seperate the harbor by citizen/residentowned boats on one side, cargo on the next, and coastguard station.
For your "joots" make 1 longer skinnyer ones so that your small boats can park

A cool mini figure scene could be coast guard or life guards saving a drowning figure(maybe it’s just a head on the water haha)

It's great to see you move from project to project in this new city. The initial piers look like a good start, but I bet the more you look at them the more you'll want to space them out so you can get two boats between each set. More space for details too.
I can see this area taking quite a few iterations and design changes as there's a lot of good space and ideas to work with. One point about the rails though. In a pier/dock area the rails wouldn't normally be ballasted at all. They'd be inset directly into the concrete/tarmac so that trucks can drive across them.
Also, I had that crane/dock set as a kid and it was so epic when it was released. Not it looks tiny on that table.
If your able to maybe you should add a Ferrylanding /boat ramp to unload cars or boat to tie in your floating island Mansion that you'll add in down the road.

Ideas for the ocean area, offshore drilling rig, cruise ship, whale watching story, sailing race.
Again, the downtown should be in contact with the pier: you win the width of the sidewalk. The road and the train should be at the end of the block, the train working like a tram. Check croatian city Split.
And your access holes should be surrounded by buildings. Chech parigian fake façades
Could try adding some sand green, browns and tans, to create tide lines on the harbor docks

Bricksie, the Lego Polar Explorer sets and the new Lego Jungle Explorer sets, would really flesh out your expedition section of your harbour.
For one, that sub fits better with your current big explorer ship, yet that jungle heli, fits with that polar explorer.
So expend that section of your harbour, a bit and buy those sets.
And yes, two ships, side by side in between two docks, is quite logical to do.
And your bordwalk, at a small harbour to it, for the smaller boats, think small(er) yacht harbour, here.
I think near your fairywheel, would be a good location for this.
Can you figure out how to give your smaller explorer ship, a Well-dock & Moon-pool setup?

Yes, setup a explorers set of docks.
You are going to need to go to the Legostore, anyway, so get those explorer sets.
They even give you the parts for some other great fun, like for say your Zoo or maybe your mountain or undersea settings.
Get some cabinets that fit under your table, with glass doors, that would let you create a underwater world along that whole stretch of your layout, Bricksie.
The only problem I see with your layout, is that you don't have a easy way to get power to the underside of your layout, not even for some under the table lights, so you don't need to grap a flashlight or so.
So start thinking on that tiny problem, better you do it now, while it's still relative easy to fix, then later on, when it gets quite hard.

If you move the entire seaport 1 baseplate closer to the front edge, that would give you 1 baseplate more room to place a road to the port and the countryside.
The coast guard boat might look great near the seawall so it looks like the beach and boat yard are both protected. Maybe add a small coast guard duty station building. The joy you have building Lego really shines in this video!

It'd be nice to see you hang up the wall art & organize the place, as the city is not something that will be or should be done in quick order.
A larger beach would look good with this setup. The ratio from boatyard to beach right now looks small
I think the kind of fence to add the train yard would be the new ones from the police 2024 sets
Maybe you can put some lego tyres on the sea wall. i think that would look good and fits with real ones.

I still think you should expand your beach a little bit... it seems small compared to the harbor... and I think 6/8 more studs of expansion would definately improve the layout of the beach and the city itself...

There should be a boat launch in the boat yard
After game 6 I think the oilers deserve to have their logo somewhere in the city. Maybe as something like the pathways in a park.
Yaaaay finally the train yard man so man possibilities and the dock is spot on every dock i see the boats are squished together, ive only seen millionaire ships and boats having decent amount of space between eachother
I reckon you should do a kind of County Fire Dept/Sheriff's Office in the Countrysie part of the city. I've already come up with a name for it Bricksie Co. Volunteer Fire & Bricksie Co. Sheriff's Office
When I was watching the Oilers game last night, I thought of a great idea for a build in your city. Rogers place, you could totally build the Oilers arena, i don't know where you would put it but it's suchs a cool build that no matter where it went it would look amazing!!

I wish my local LEGO stores had 4x4 green plate, I would go crazy! But last time I went they did have the 2x4 green brick, so you win some, you lose some 😅

For your harbor I would just use the same as on the fishing store, some tires hanging in a chain off the side. I really liked the look of those tires, old school .
A rescue scene in the deep portion of the water would be pretty cool. Maybe someone accidently went past the rock cove and needs saving now
Looking great. Think it would be great to link the light house into the edge of the cove a bit more, currently it feels disconnected with no space to go around. Would love to see you produce some sort of Oilers MOC given your love of them.

I wonder if the edge of your docks should have warning stripes.
One more thing....the lighthouse should come before the boat yard. Lighthouse reps safety and harbor. Can't have harbor first.
Not that you need more reasons to get the new Lego truck, but if you set the road into the harbor up so that semi trucks could load freight, you could have a cargo ship unloading Lego that your trucks could deliver. Also, a roundhouse in the train yard would look super cool.
