You need to know that you can be seen as a "no asset" case to the trustee, even though you do have a house and car. In this video, it was a little confusing on that. This differs from state to state too

This chapter of the Bankruptcy Code generally provides for reorganization, usually involving a corporation or partnership. A chapter 11 debtor usually proposes a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time. People in business or individuals can also seek relief in chapter 11.

What is chapter 11 bankruptcy?

If you own a house the bankrupcy does not protect your son.
Your son loses the right to live in you house in case you die under a bankruptcy, and he end living at the street if he cannot pay the debt.
On other word, if you are "proprietary" of a house, the bankruptcy does not respect your house.
