I love American gospel, the old gospel of the 50s and 60s. Those songs touch your heart. I am a fan of Elvis Presley and heard gospel for the first time in Elvis's voice.

Terry Blackwood has such a calming voice.Jake Hess' voice is uniquely beautiful.
A man that I had became very close to over the last few years, Dr Damon Patterson, an ordained Baptist minister of 70 years. Dr Patterson was called Home on February 15, 2022, almost 94 years old, still preaching, teaching, and ministering to others till his death. Anytime I hear “His Hand in Mine”, I’ll always think of my wonderful brother in Christ, as this was his favorite song. His son, Dr Fred Patterson sang it at Brother Damon’s funeral. Fred sang it beautifully, but not quite as his father sang it, but since the funeral service, I can’t seem to get the song out of my head. It’s a beautiful song, but Dr Damon Patterson was a man loved by thousands, such a humble servant of God. Looking forward to seeing him in Glory one day soon.

I wrote something when I was 16 and it became a pop song when I submitted it to be evaluated.
So I just smash the Hammond C3 in town when I can now, and it’s fun for me, but writing music is not easy,

I’ll give you a hint, it starts in the key of C. Think Country & Western in Barbershop Quartet style and play it in a few different keys and you’ll be gold.
@@Breakthroughh I learn these songs by watching either the keys or guitar players hands, but this is simple 12 bar blues country in a few different keys.
I was told to learn every song in all 12 keys and you’re going to be good.
Transcribe the bass first, then you’ll figure it out.

@@JesusisJesus this is a good way to learn piano especially. I learn to play in in all 12 keys, but I use the circle of fifths to transpose

One of my favourite gospel song's. I am a great fan of this very dedicated couple and their group.Food for my soul,God bless you all.
Even though I read the title, I saw Glen Payne with a mic and got my hopes up of him doing a solo. He did such a soulful rendition of this with the Cathedrals in the 70s. The emotion in his voice matched every word that he sang.

Anastasia wrote Angel Band in Flemish in 1994. She had Alzheimer's but she still remembered Flemish sometimes. Some of the family members said she was given a dose of sodium pentathol just after she wrote this song so she couldn't translate it herself. Vestal Goodman translated the song into English and it was sung at Anastasia's funeral. We have reason to believe she was a martyr.

Terry did not get the lyrical rhythm of the song. Jake had to show him how it’s done. After all, Jake (with the Statesmen) sang it first.
I think Terry has his own style. It is what drew me to this video. His emotion shines through in a very special way.

There is no right or wrong in musical interpretation. You may have always heard it one way, but that never means its the only right way. You obviously know very little about music.
