i like that every time you introduce the next step in the sequence, you still start explaining from the very beginning of the sequence. Really helped drill it in. This was excellent!!
finally , I can listen to this man explain all day long. Very detailed, not to assume everyone watching is master hvac. People are always starving for good and detailed info to learn from. Thanks, great job
I have spent hours studying HVAC systems on the internet. This one is hands down the best I have seen to date. You are an excellent teacher and I thank you for sharing your knowledge. Captain Ron
I'm an HVAC Tech going on my 2nd year in December. Just wanted to say this video is the best video I've seen thus far on troubleshooting a furnace. Great video to refresh my memory.
I have 6yrs doing hvac tec and install ed for a compans and I never have a problem how to fix it, all that you need to know be with the right service tech and ask questions if you have to.i like to watch hvac videos from others tech to get some tips and apply it in the field and it work, not complain . This guy splained very well
repeat repeat repeat........I loved every repeat of the operation. I am exploring repairing my furnace....Your presentation gives me confidence. Thank you.
Excellent explanation for a DIYer and complete noob in the HVAC world. This video allowed me to know exactly what I was looking at. It also allowed me to function test all components before taking anything apart. Truly thank you Sam!
Sam, this is the best in depth explanation I've ever seen. If you aren't an expert you sure fooled me brother. Thank you, as well as your furnace for being the guinea pig multiple times. That was the best 26 minutes I have ever spent on youtube :) You have a new sub from me.
*GOOD STUFF BROTHER* ... As a stubborn *IT* guy...I refuse to call a tech to fix anything. I have been diagnosing and repairing my furnace for years... Knew some of that stuff... But never knew the entire process until this video... *THANKS THANKS THANKS* *LIKED...SAVED TO FAVORITES.. AND SUBSCRIBED*
My man… 😮 you are the best instructor online ever. Seems like you follow the current flow point to point… great work! Yes I learned and subscribed, yes sir…
By saying the wires are interconnected, means they are all in series, if any one the safety devices open then the furnace will open and shut down. I believe. I would have liked to of seen a wiring ladder diagram. But this was by far the best explanation I’ve seen on You Tube. I’ve had some electrical experience and I enjoy watching these video’s. Always learning more. Thank You
Sam, this is one of the best presentations on the topic. I am part time tech, and it was excellent to be refreshed on all the minor details. Will look for other videos from you. Thank you.
I don't know the first thing about electrical, but when my ac compressor wouldn't kick on today, I knew I had to figure it out on my own. This video has really given me the confidence to troubleshoot my system. Very well spoken, detailed, and laid out information. Thank you!
I have been messing with furnaces for about 10 yr and currently in hvac school. And I can tell you that this is well explained and one of the best vids I have watched, thanks for taking the time and effort to make this vid
Thanks Sam --- as a note - some of these air switches has two contacts - one on the front one on the back check both! On my Carrier unit the yellow jumper powered both switches - then there was a brown (signal to control board) and orange (signal to control board) two different outputs signals. Inducer housing pressure and collector box pressure (check all 3 tubing- green, black, and black square tubing vacuumed sensing signal). Blow them out (toward the inducer housing) and you can check them with a OHM meter by gently sucking on the hose and hearing them click. Make sure the hoses are good and tight - a very small vacuum leak can cause them to not work!
Omg this guy is such a great teacher, he repeats himself just enough to be sure I have captured his messages. His delivery rate is at a speed that I never become overwhelmed regardless of how much useful information he delivers. What a great furnace video Sir.
Wow. That’s the most complete and comprehensive walkthrough I think I’ve ever seen. A natural teacher. Maybe you should consider joining with Khan Academy…seriously.
Sam your a good teacher,u speak and teach at good pace.Your easy to follow and understand. Although you are very wrong,an inducer running or verifying(what u call it) isn't what closes a psi switch .The psi switch has a tube going to it that tube is connected to the housing of the inducer, when the inducer runs in a system that doesn't have a chimney problem, chimney pipe problem, heat exchanger problem etc the inducer running creates a vacuum that the closes the psi switch normally open contacts. Not all blower mtr run on a call for heat for 90 seconds, thats that furnace, thats not all.Roll outs, high limits psi switches are not INTERLOCKED ,thats called wired in series. In the beginning u said u were troubleshooting a board,so why would u use LINE voltage ground and not your LOW VOLTAGE NEUTRAL?Your low voltage neutral is common.Your discussing a gas fired furnace and u speak about the flame rod for 15 seconds? That rectification signal keeps the dam thing on,if thats not a good signal bck tothefurnace it won't wrong for 12 seconds. For some reason the flame rolls bck,FOR SOME REASON,howabout for these reasons,a bird nest in your chimney, water in your chimney, a brick chimney that fell apart,a cracked heat exchanger, a blocked secondary,a drft mtr with no squirrel cage that doesn't use a psi switch but rather an end switch.AND FORALLTHESE REASONS THATS WHY A ROLL OUT WOULD POP(the resettableswitches)Start up process, the industry lingo we call that a sequence of events.I JUSTHEARD INTERLOCK AGAIN,roll outs wired in series.GOOD JOB BRO,keep upthe good work
I'm writing this from a new tech stand point. One of the best if not the best video I've seen on troubleshooting a furnace, no fancy terms simplicity yet filled with information!!! Great job Sam thank you for not rubbing on our face your knowledge and making it simple for those of us starting in the HVAC field!!!
Thanks so much!! I took 3 months class learned AC but didn't really know anything, your video is a tremendous help, thanks again. Please make more videos like this about the AC system also!! I will be sure to keep an eye on the new one you make!
Beautifully explained the complete flow of signals. For a dumb person like me understood the entire process. Best thing is repeating things again and again. Best video sir. All I can give you is respect
I’m currently in HVAC school. This semester I’m studying gas furnaces and electric motors. This is by far the best video explanation I have came across.
WOW I have spent hours and hours and hours trying to find a video like this. This video is the best that I have found and probably ever will find, on trouble shooting a gas furnace. For those of us that are trying to find out what is wrong with our gas furnace, In my opinion this is the video we need and have been looking for. Thank you so very much.
1# Gas Furnace Operations Video on UA-cam UNDISPUTED!!!!! When I began hvac at apartments awhile ago, just finding a video where the tech didn't go off on unrelated information, advance functions, random applications etc was impossible.
EXCELLENT explanation I have never ever SEEN such technically wiring explanation cycle ON UA-cam. "GOD BLESS YOU" my friend keep making more videos' VERY LESS PEOPLE HAVE SUCH TALENT TO EXPLAIN the real world knowledge. Every HVACR guys should watch this video again and again till they get MASTERs of FURNACE wiring.
Great run down on trouble shooting a gas furnace I never really trouble shooted a furnace I just went off the diagram and the lights blinking indicating the problem I rebuild a whole gas furnace in over two years due to it being in a flood that I wasn't aware of but I appreciate this
Sam you are an excellent teacher !! 👍👍 . Thank you for the perfect quality and lighting. I replaced my board exactly like yours, no heat... hit the roll-out resets and BOOM, We have Heat and my beautiful wife is happy. 🙏🙏💜
I just want to thank you for this video. I bought the igniter for my furnace and I thought it was going to work but it didn’t. I followed your video step by step and it worked. God bless you and yours my friend.
I just wanna know which genius thought it would be great to place a flue in front of the blower assembly. True stroke of genius right there. That an entire company signed off on. Truly phenomenal.
🏆 Thank you for your helpful and detailed guide to troubleshooting HVAC systems. Hands down your video is one of the best one that details all provable causes and how to test components with a multimeter.
Best way I have see trouble shooting a warm air furnace . Love the fact that you took your time and explained all different scenarios. Also the way you talked slow and clear . Most people talk way to fast and jump around from topic to topic. Nice Job Sam keep them coming. And remember if you don't use it you loose it. If you share it its yours for ever. If you keep it to your self there is a chance you may loose it . I had to learn this the hard way.
I’m very impressed with your thorough, methodical, and informative video, I don’t mean to nitpick but instead of using electrical tape to close “hold in on position” your furnace power switch, might I suggest that you just try pulling it out, same as setting a fan limit switch to manual. Keep up the good work, maybe it will get some of the people who bother me at ridiculous times to realize that they could do it themselves, I was called at three o’clock in the morning on Christmas Eve to fix a boiler and again on Christmas Day to do a forced hot air furnace and I’m not even a furnace technician. . . I’m just “Blessed” with the ability to fix things.
I have seen a lot of furnace videos on the net but yours was the best one yet I don't think it gets no better than this one... it really helped me out a lot I just want to say thank you and keep up the good work!!!
one fine job, any one manically inclined should save this video if u try to work on a gas furnace. i know i won"t remember all this but i'll have it to watch when i need it. you will never find another one even close. very precise, thanks for helping
This is awesome! Just a suggestion that what would have made it more awesome is a 15 second talk on what each of those pieces does like "flame sensor is there to detect that you actually have ignition and flame and if not it turns the furnace off to prevent gas leak"... things like that.
This video was very informative. I am an HVAC/r technician and even if I wasn’t, I’d be able to understand this video clearly and precisely very good teaching method thank you so much for the information
I just watched your video. I'm a hvac student. This is one of the best videos ever seen. You are great teacher. I really appreciate your video. God bless and keep up with great work. Thanks again.
Hello I just came across your video. Excellent tutorial video. Very in-depth video. I’m a homeowner and my hobbies are mechanic s, electrical, plumbing, carpentry along with others. I like to diagnose and repair problems. I know repair cost are high but one time I was charged extremely more one day I had service on my furnace when I was working. No more. I plan on taking a HVAC course. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Wow, that was absolutely perfect ! Your illustration, camera work, and explanations..spot-on ! I would have liked to see the flame sensor, and how to clean or replace it. Fantastic..!
From Argentina. Thank You Sam. Whith your explanation I resolved the problem in my weathermaker 8000. one of the temperature sensors is faulty. I replace this and it worked perfect.
Sam, you did an excellent job explaining the furnace start-up sequence with trouble-shooting tips every step of the way with a multimeter.
